"Darla, can we hang out today? I need to talk to you," Alexis phones me at home. "Of course! That's what best friends are for right?" I respond. "Alright! Meet me at the mall! Be there at four!" I go to my room and change into a bright, blue belly shirt, red denim shorts, and blue chucks. I decide to leave the house at one because I have to walk to the mall, which is at least two miles away. I get there at surprisingly 1:30, being a runner and all, and walk inside the sticky building. I see Zach and a group of his football friends walking towards my way, so I quickly run outside. I pull a cigarette from my bag and light it. Calm down, Darla... The group of guys walk out and see me sitting on the concrete blocks set up in front of the entrance to make it look more fancy. I don't even bother looking at Zach, but I put on my best flirtatious smile. "Hi," I take a puff of my cigarette; as they walk closer to me, I blow the smoke out right in front of them. "Hi hun. Who must you be?" one of them says; I turn to face a large, muscular guy. Obviously football player status... "I know you," a cute one says to me, "you're Darla Platt! I've heard tons of things about you! I'm friends with your brother!" "Oh," I take another puff, "him." "I know you too... Word on the street is that you go around sleeping with every guy," Zach says. All the boys turn to look at him with awe. "Oh hey, Zach. I go around sleeping with every guy? How about the time you kissed someone else while you were dating Alexis?" I ask ever so innocently with a smirk. "Shit man! You did?" the muscular one says again. "Darla...." Zach looks at me with anger. "What? I recall that moment very clearly," I smirk again, "should I tell you again so you remember? Well, we were in the woods and-." Zach grabs my arm and yanks me away from them, "Stay away from Alexis. You're no friend to her." I roll my eyes and walk back to Zach's friends. "Would ya look at the time!" I say, pretending I have a watch, "I should be off now!" I take out a pen and write my phone number on both of Zach's friends, "Call me," I say and blow my smoke into their face. I throw my cigarette on the ground, step on it, and walk inside. I wander around the mall with two hours before Alexis gets here. I walk to the part of the mall I was just at and see the cute guy from before. "Hey," I say smiling innocently. "Hey it's you again," he smiles at me. I walk up next to him and sit next to him on the ground, "what are you doing here still?" "Waiting for my brother to come get me. I think he went off somewhere with his girlfriend though. I might have to walk," he says, his eyes shining. "How unfortunate!" I say attempting to sound sympathetic, "I know a better idea! You could hang out with me for a bit." "I'd love to. I think what you said to Zach was funny. I never seen him act like that before; what's his deal?" he asks. "We have history," I say looking deflated. "Oh, I'm sorry, dear," he puts his arm around my shoulder - I rest my head on it. "Thank you for being so kind to me," I pretend to sniffle, "what's your name?" "Ben. I know yours already," he smiles with his eyes twinkling. Darla, don't do anything, he's just a sweet kid... "I don't mean to be creepy, but are you... single?" I ask. "Yeah, I haven't had a girlfriend since Year 6. I'm going to Year 9 like you," he responds with his eyes saddened. "I never seen ya around before!" I say. "I've always been around. I mean, it takes a lot for a pretty girl like you to look at someone like me," he responds shyly. "Oh, Ben! I would've noticed, but I used to not pay attention to anyone except for this one guy... but he broke my heart," I say. "That was Zach, right?" "Yeah... How'd you know?" "Well, with what you said before. You said "we were in the woods" and that you and Zach had history." "Yeah... I didn't think you'd hear that. It was all my fault though, and now he hates me because I've been hanging out with Drew and Nathaniel and Matt and just ugh. He hates it that Alexis and I are good friends. We're meeting up at four today." "Wait who are all these people?" "You don't know Drew? Zach's brother?" "But...Zach told us he was an only child..." "That son of a bitch." Ben left to walk home at around four, so I could meet up with Alexis. I knew Zach would turn out to be a jerk. Gosh. Seriously? I know the EXACT reason too. Zach is embarrassed of him. Actually, not just him, all of us. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Short, but I felt this update needed to be necessary. I'm gonna show the mall scene with Alexis obviously, but I feel like you guys aren't interested anymore . Thanks for reading!
I've read this story from page 1 to 23. I'm so in love with it that I can't use words to express it anymore. Please continue updating, I think you're really talented. I enjoy this story.
Bump!! I've been checking like every two seconds, waiting for you to update. Please pleas please update!! I need it ~(@-@)~
~~~~UPDATE!~~~~ "Darla!" Alexis greets as she walks into the mall. "Oh, hey," I say, still infuriated by what Ben told me. "What's wrong?" she asks, her large eyes saddening. "Zach told us not to hang out anymore," I say. "What?" she looks surprised. "He just walked out of the mall and threatened me," I respond. " I don't even know what his problem's been lately! He's been like this for a while," she responds a little angry. "I don't know." I obviously do know. It's the day Zach found out I hung out with Nathaniel's crew. What's even the huge deal? It's not like he cares about me.... Or does he? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Alexis's and my shopping day consists of eating and trying on ridiculous outfits that even Alexis can't rock. It's so fun, but today, neither of us are feeling it. We gossip the whole time, mostly about Zach, which I'm fine with, considering how much I detest him. I love it when Alexis complains to me about him. I love it even more when we both exchange horrible stories about him. I kinda feel bad since Alexis is his girlfriend, but who knew Zach could be such a piece of work. I did ask her why she didn't dump him yet. I'll quote her, "Even though he has MANY *laughs* horrible moments, I still love his great moments. That masks everything else. That's what love is right? Looking at all the positive and forgetting about the negative". Did I mention she's sweet? Neither of us buy anything; I hardly buy clothes in front of her. Alexis knows I'm "different", but I don't want to embarrass her or make her look bad. She's one of my close friends, and I could never do that to her. She eyes a couple of shirts, but she doesn't get them. Clothing has been pretty expensive lately, and the neither of us are rich. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We finish our girl's day out and we both head our separate ways. I run home, which is a bad idea, because it happens to be pretty hot outside. I get home in about half an hour and run into the shower. My lungs have gotten worse; I get tired more easily, but it doesn't stop me. "DARLA. Phone," my mother calls from the kitchen. I change into a disgusting outfit that I'd only wear at home and pick up the phone. I check my surroundings before answering, making sure my mother isn't anywhere near me. "Hello?" I say. "Darla, it's me. Wanna come over? I got something new today," I hear a voice I recognize so clearly now. "Ugh I just got home, Nathaniel," I complain. "Please?! I didn't show anyone else yet! You get to try it first!" he begs. "What is it?" I ask. "I'll tell you when you get your ass over here! My parents aren't home for the week! C'mon!" he pleads. "What's in this for me?" I ask. "You get first dibs!" he exclaims. "That's it?" I snicker. "And you can get a kiss from me," he says. "I'll pass," I joke. "I was kidding! We're friends ya know," he laughs. "Fine. I'll be there in twenty minutes," I say goodbye and hang up the phone. I walk to Nathaniel's house, a couple streets away from mine. I wonder what he has this time. Last time he told me he had something interesting, it was just a poster he got. I slapped his head really hard. I walk up the steps to the front door of Nathaniel's home. I make a fist ready to knock on the door, but before I can even do so, he swings open the door. "Hiya, Darla! I've been waiting!" he exclaims, "I watched you from the window!" "That's not creepy at all," I punch his arm lightly. "Come to the basement!" he holds his hand out and leads me down the stairs. Nathaniel's basement is nicer than Drew's; he has a color television, a comfortable sofa, a refrigerator full of beer and it doesn't smell like wet mold. "What is it that you wanted to show me?" I ask. "These," he says and holds out a bottle of small pills. "What is that? Aspirin? Why's you wanna show me that?" I complain. "It's not aspirin," he says seriously, looking right at me. "What is it then? I've clearly never seen it before," I respond. "It's a new thing. A lot of people have been taking it," he says. "What does it do?" I ask. "It makes you energetic and it takes you on magical trips. A lot of people like it," he says, his eyes sparkling. "Trips?" I ask. "We have to take it to find out; that's what my dealer told me," he looks at me, mischievously. "Well, what's it called?" I ask, curiously. "LSD." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi readers! This is kinda short... Sorry the mall scene is a little boring, but I wanted to show you the close relationship between Darla and Alexis. There will be at least one more fun and fabulous adventure between them before the finale (which is coming soon). I hope to update soon! I'll be pretty busy the rest of the week though so... I'll try. Thanks for reading .
