  1. Dont all those prevention go under health care already???? Here they do...

And let's be realistic... For a government it pays more to have over weight, smoking, alcoholic, addicted to drugs people than healthy... How else could they make all that tax money from the pharmacology companies??? And that is why the private health care is better... If it coasts 5000£ for an er admonition your insurance pays it... Not the government...

  2. Over here all health care is free at the point of need. Prescriptions are charged at £7.65 per item unless you meet certain age (pensioners and children get them free) or income requirements. Certain medical conditions also entitle you to free prescriptions too. If you have to pay, you can have an option to make it cheaper. As I'm asthmatic and take regular meds, I can pay monthly and all my meds are covered for about £10 a month. It's set out to help. Even then I've seen the drug costs and they make a bloody fortune most of the time.

  3. The government has a central funding for the health service paid for out of taxes which are paid at a sliding scale of income. Private health care is better how? Who pays for your people in ER who don't have insurance?

And no. A sick, drug addicted population can't work. They then claim disability and unemployment benefits which take further money from the government. Remind me how that helps?

The preventative stuff I mentioned does come under health care. They're also more likely to affect those of lower socio-economic status. The people who don't have insurance.....

  4. It's the same system has in Portugal...

Here everything is free, but you pay a really expensive insurance... But then again, when you go to the doctor or the hospital your treated like a queen/king because your a client... As when it comes to the other system you're not always very well treated...

  5. You must have insurance... It's the law, if you move here and you don't do you're insurance the government does it for you... It's not a choice... It's like tax... You pay them even if you don't want...

  6. We have some awesome doctors and some really crappy ones. Some are really impersonal, I'm lucky that I've been with mine since I was 2 and he's an old school type that likes to visit all newborns just to coo and will do anything for you.

  7. But once again that's the big difference here... Here if you can't work because of a health problem it's not the government that pays... It's the insurance..

  8. Our tax is on a sliding scale so the highest earners pay most through to those with a really low paid job don't pay until they earn over a threshold. It's not perfect but it's an attempt

  9. Ahh ok. That would be insane.

  10. Casper that sounds like a good health plan

  11. Yeah it's not perfect but it's not bad. We've had it for 60 something years so we're used to it

  12. I think we just need to plan it out better and wait to get it till we have a better economy.
I think for this healthcare drug testings should be frequent. That way we know that patients won't be using their "free" doctors visits just to work their way to get their favorite drugs.

We also need to realize that taxes for EVERYONE are going to go up. Not just the rich, but the poor as well. Everyone is going to have to pay more, and for the majority of Americans nowadays who are living paycheck to paycheck just to survive, it will take a lot of money away from them.

  13. It's garbage

  14. Lol poor americans  they are actually PAYING for healthcare, we do it in taxed..,

  15. Health in the us is crap and expensive, not everyone have the opportunity find a good job to pay for a expensive health program.

  16. SoFoda, if it's crap, don't use it, but when you need it, don't complain.

    Fix it yourself.
    You'll be fine, I promise.
But if you can't do that, I'm suggesting health care. ;D

  17. Btw if you're on lower income it's less expensive. If not, you have nothing to complain about. Everyone else in The US could afford it. If you really are lower income, then cool, all the rest of us will be forced to pay it. If not, I don't see why you're complaining bro.
