***NOTE: SAMMI WANTED ME TO POST THIS UPDATE RIGHT AWAY SO IT DOES NOT CONTAIN TWO FLASHBACKS. Hm. More cliffhanging flashbacks for you ***
••••Update•••• "Oh my gosh," I breathe, afraid of daydreaming again. "Are you okay?" Preston asks, worried. "It's um nothing. Hurry and get your credit card. We should get going," I say coldly. "Yeah. I guess so. Do you want to come in for a minute?" he asks. "No! It's err fine!" I stumble. "I'll get my housekeeper to fix you a drink," he says tugging at my arm. "No! Really! I should um save my stomach for the date! I mean, hang out!" I blush. He smirks at me and gets out of the car. He runs in through a side door to get his credit card. The car is parked facing this beautiful mansion, so I could see every little detail. I know this house well enough, for it contains many memories of my past. And here I go again... Drifting into open space... •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Flashback The drama club chose a cold March night for the premiere of the winter musical, RENT. I'm going to see it with my mother because Oliver got a main part as the character, Roger Davis. He's always been a great actor and singer; I'm not surprised though, it's because of his father, of course. All those singing and acting classes paid off. My mother and I walk into the busy auditorium through the front of the school. "The show will be great," my mother says excitedly; we always go to the shows together, even in when I was in middle school. Lately, my mom and I have been doing girl to girl things. My dad and mom aren't getting along too well anymore; I like to get her out of the house, so I don't have to fall asleep to yelling and hearing broken glass break against the floor. "Two tickets please," my mom takes out her wallet. "That'll be 12 dollars. Enjoy the show!" a friendly lady hands us the two pieces of paper saying "RENT!" on it. We hand our tickets to the usher at the door, who hole-punches them, and then let's us pass through to choose our seats. We pick the seats in the middle of the middle section. This way we won't have to hurt our necks looking up at the stage, or won't be too far to see the actors. My mother leaves to get some snacks for us because we didn't have dinner before we left. We planned to go to dinner with Oliver at a nearby restaurant after the show. She comes back with my favorite candy, Sour Patch Kids, and some popcorn. This will have to do for now. "The show is starting!" my mother squeals. I laugh with her. She acts like such a teenager still sometimes, which is funny since she is a lawyer. I'm pretty sure most lawyers are all sophisticated, but my mom's not. Most are busy too, but my mom makes time for me during the day. She's the best. The show is fantastic equipped with amazing dancers, jaw-dropping singers, and of course, amazing actors. Oliver puts his heart and soul into every song; I know it, because I can feel it. His depression about his girlfriend April and his new found love for Mimi are perfectly portrayed in his acting. His costume is amazing; he actually looks like Roger. His hair parted off to the side and gelled a little to keep it from falling into his eyes. It's also a little wavy, just like Roger in the Broadway show and the movie. The combo of the leather jacket, white t-shirt, and navy blue jeans fit his body perfectly and make him look extra hot. I'm totally fangirling. He does have a love interest, in the musical, acting of course. Mimi Márquez is played by Gianna Friedman, a senior in our school and also an amazing singer and actress. She gained acceptance into Juilliard School of Music in New York City for college. At the end of the show, all the actors take a bow. When Oliver comes out to take his bow, I hear a bunch of girls squealing for him behind me. I look back and see a group of young girls, freshman too, all captivated by him. I roll my eyes and sink down into my seat. "It's okay, honey. Oliver still likes you," my mom laughs. "I know, but ugh. Stupid Oliver fan club," I mutter. She continues laughing and says, "Someone's jealous." "It's not funny, mom!" I laugh with her. After the guy, who played Mark Cohen took his bow, the director comes out onto the stage. "The performers tonight were amazing weren't they? I just wanted to say thank you for coming opening night! And now, I'm handing the mic off to Oliver!" she squeals along with girls behind me fangirling over Oliver. "Thanks for coming tonight, but before you go... Terissa Bennett? Will you please come up on stage?" I hear him say. "Ugh. Who's she? Why does she get to go up to talk to that hottie?" one of those girls mutters. I stand up and turn around to look at them, "that's me." I don't bother looking at them after and walked down the aisle and onto the stage into Oliver's arms. "Hey, Riza," he whispers to me. "What's all of this?" I ask too soon for anything. "You'll see," he says grabbing the mic again. He nods to one of the technical crew members and a song begins to play. I recognize it immediately as "Can't Stop" by One Republic, one of my favorite songs. "Oliver..." I whisper as he starts to sing. I sing along with him in my mind: I don't want to live without you I can live without you half the day, heeeay hey I don't want to live without you And put life off for another day Hey-hey yeah hey-hey yeeeah But I can't stop Thinking about... thinking about us Anymore oooh oh I said I can't stop Thinking about... thinking about us Anymore ooh oh I said I can't stop... no Thinking about... thinking about this Anymore ooh oh And all I've got... uuuh Is nothing I want Anymore ooh oh When he finishes, I'm practically in tears because of how beautiful he sang it; I knew he meant it. I takes my hand to the very front of the stage and sits me down, my legs dangling over the edge of the stage. "Riza... I don't want to live without you. You mean the world to me and more," he takes my fingertips and kisses them. I look over at my mom who's smiling at me and then the group of girls, they're crying too, but happy tears. "Terissa Francesca Bennett, will you go to Junior Prom with me?" he asks looking deep into my eyes and smiling. Oh my gosh... I thought to myself. "Yes," I whisper to Oliver; he smiles and hugs me right away. The packed auditorium starts to whistle and cheer for us. He helps me up and then he takes me backstage. "Riza, I was so nervous up there, but then when I saw you smiling, it all went away," he put his hand on my cheek. "You continue to surprise me," I smirk at him before giving him a kiss. "Save those for Prom pictures," he laughs and kisses me again. I sigh happily. Prom. End of Flashback •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• "Earth to Terissa," Preston says waving his hand in front of my face. "Ugh! Again? I'm sorry..." I say. "I don't mind," he laughs, "you daydream a lot. It's kind of well..." "What?" I say leaning forward. "It's cute, okay?" Preston blushes. "Oh," I blush too. We both sit there for a while not talking, but both of us beet red. "We should um, get going to the restaurant, now," Preston says starting his car. "Great idea," I say as we drive off into the distance. "So what's your whole deal with the 'don't talk to me' expression you put out for everyone," he awkwardly asks. "I just don't want to get too close," I say. "Why not?" he asks. "I don't want to be hurt again," I say, trying not to reminisce. "Who hurt you?" he asks. "Oliver," I admit. That's the first time I said his name since I last saw him. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• SO! The next update should be interesting . You get the Prom update and "date" update! Eep!
