Shan. *poke* Shan. *poke* Shan. *poke* Shan. *poke* Lemme tell you something, honey... *whispers* UPDATE! All of us might appreciate it. And we're very anxious. Very. So, you know, it's just a suggestion. But more of a command and a demand.
••••Update•••• "Mo-om. We're home," I call from the front door with Preston by my side. It's been a couple months since Preston and I started dating. My mom was overjoyed when I told her we were an "item" and now, he practically lives at my house. He eats dinner with us every night and hangs out here until I fall asleep. Is it too soon to say I love him? "Lav! Hey!" Preston hugs my mom and hangs his backpack on the rack. Today starts our two week winter break for Christmas and Preston and I decided to spend the holiday break together. Since there is no snow in California, it's not exactly winter, but it is still colder than summer. "Hello Preston! Hi honey," my mom kisses both of us on the cheeks, "do you two have plans for this evening?" "Well, I wanted to take Ter out for dinner tonight; it's our three month anniversary," Preston tells my mom. "Oh is it? How adorable! You two kids have fun. I'm going on a date myself," my mom blushes. "WITH WHO?!" Preston and I asked surprised at the same time. "I met him yesterday on my morning jog; we're just having dinner. I'll probably be back before you," she winks and gives us the "I know what teenagers do these days" look. "MOM! Seriously?!" I yell at her and then laugh; Preston joins in on our laughing. "I'm just kidding! Anyway, I should be getting ready soon. He's coming to pick me up at 5:30," she smiles and goes up to her room. "Now that we're alone..." I smile, "what would you like to do?" "I'd like to spend my day with my beautiful girlfriend," he cups my face with his hands and kisses my cheek lightly. "Well, I know that!" I giggle, "would you like to go anywhere special?" "Well, I would like you to meet my parents. They are off work today," he smiles. "I don't want to..." I say sadly. "Why not?" he asks pouring sadly. What if they hate me?" I worry. "I promise they won't. They're actually okay, not as cool as your mom, but they're okay," he kisses my nose, "don't worry, Ter." "Alright, just let me change," I crinkle my nose at my choice of outfit today, a t shirt and yoga pants. "Well, I like your outfit," he winks and laughs. "Stop it," I glare and then laugh hugging him. I go up to my room and change into a more appropriate outfit. I choose a red tank top and tuck it into my black and white vertically stripped maxi skirt with a small slit. I throw on a denim jacket because it is pretty chilly and throw on a pair of red Toms. "You look gorgeous," Preston gushes as I walk down the stairs. "Not as gorgeous as you," I plant a small kiss on his lips and wrap my arms around his neck, "besides, now we match." Preston's outfit is probably much better than mine; I love guys that dress nice. He's decked out in a red polo shirt with the button undone and slightly skinny jeans. He finishes the outfit with red and black Nikes and his signature lip bite. "Ooooo I just realize," he bumps his nose to mine, "we should get going." "You're right! We have dinner reservations at 6:30!" I laugh. I decide not to interrupt my mom, so I leave a note on the front door saying where we're going. We climb into Preston's car and drive off. We arrive several minutes later in front of the large gate of Preston's house. He pushes a button and the gate opens slowly. Preston drives up the smooth driveway slowly and clicks another button for the garage door to open. He neatly parks his car inside and turns off the engine. "Before we go..." I stop him from opening his car door, "what do your parents do?" "Ter! Stop!" he kisses my cheeks lightly, "they'll love you! And you'll find out." "Can you just tell me please?" I smile. "No," he seals my lips with a kiss and gets out of the car; he walks around his car to open the door for me, "shall we?" "We shall," I take his hand and walk into the large house. The inside looks completely different than how I remembered. The old Renaissance style, became modern retro. With a red leather sofa, flat screen TV, triangular lamps dangling from ceiling and the coffee brown walls with large green dots make the room look exciting. "Wow," I say breathlessly, "I love it." "It's my mom. She does like home decor stuff. She designed and matched all the colors and furniture for the rooms," Preston smiles proudly at his mom's work. "I love it! It's so pulled together!" I gawk. "Preston, you're home!" a little girl runs up to Preston and gives his legs a hug, "Is this Terissa?" "Yes, it is. Would you like to introduce yourself?" Preston smiles at the little girl. "Hi Terissa! I'm Gina, his little sister!" the little girl runs to give my legs a hug, "Preston talks about you all the time!" "Aww he does? That's cute," I giggle making Preston blush, "how old are you, Gina?" "I'm 7 and a half. All he does it talk about how perfect you are! I see why though," she gives me a toothy grin, "he has a journal and once I read it. It had your-." "That's enough, Gina," Preston shoots her a glare, "where's mom and dad?" "They're outside on the patio. They're deciding on how to decorate our yard for our Christmas party!" she gleams, "I should be going. Nice to meet you, Terissa!" "Oh about that! I've been meaning to invite you! The invitations haven't come yet though," Preston kisses my hand. "I'd love to come, if that's alright," I say smugly. "Of course! Who wouldn't want you to be here! The details are on the invitation," he kisses my cheek and whisks us off away to the patio. We walk through the kitchen, with a black and white theme that looks so modern and pulled together. I'm in love with it; I better ask Ms. Vermeer to do my house one day. We walk through two white doors to the patio, a large space of green grass and a large swimming pool. "Hello, mom! Dad!" Preston waves and squints his eyes at the sun pointing at us. I turn around and see his parents, a happy couple sitting in lawn chairs comparing pieces of paper. Ms. Vermeer, a pretty brunette, is wearing a pink shirt and jeans with an apron over and Mr. Vermeer in a dress shirt and dress pants. "Hello Presty!" his mother greets him. "Mom! I told you not to call me that anymore," his face gets the reddest I've ever seen. "You used to love it as a child! Anyway, is this Terissa?" she gestures at me and smiles. "Hello, it's very lovely to meet you, Mr. and Ms. Vermeer," I blush and walk up to shake their hands. Mr. Vermeer politely accepts with a large smile and Ms. Vermeer pulls me into a bear hug, "I've been dying to meet you, darling! Presty hasn't stopped talking about you since he bumped into you that day on the beach!" "Mom, that's enough," Preston becomes irritated. "I love your home," I change the topic, "the way you re-did all the rooms are phenomenal!" "Why, thank you dear! It is my job after all. The whole old fashioned thing did not suit me," she chuckles. "What about you, Mr. Vermeer? What do you do?" I ask smiling at him. "I'm her architect. I build and she decorates," he responds holding his wife's hand. "That's such a perfect match!" I smile. "What about your parents?" Ms. Vermeer asks. "Well, my mom's an accountant and my dad, I don't really know. My parents are divorced," I say with a forced smile. "Oh dear, I'm sorry, I shouldn't be questioning things like that," she says sympathetically. "It's okay, lots of people do," I smile. "Did you tell her about our party, Preston?" Mr. Vermeer asks. "Yes, I have. She'd love to attend," Preston smiles and holds me in his arms. "Great! I'm so excited for this party! Presty finally has a date!" Ms. Vermeer gushes. "Really, mom?" Preston glares, "anyway, we better get going, we have a date tonight." "Aww have fun you two! I'm so had I finally met you, Terissa!" Mrs. Vermeer gives me a hug. "Thank you for having me," I smile and wave goodbye. We walk to the garage passing the beautiful rooms once more and then we're off, "Where are we going?" "To the restaurant," he smiles. After a short drive, we arrive at "Kickin' Crab", a cajun restaurant. The inside is dark with small lights above each table. All customers are wearing the bib with a crab on it. "I really wanted to see you in a crab bib," Preston jokes. "Oh my gosh, you're kidding!" I laugh with him. We get seated immediately due to our reservation and look at the menu. We decide on Kickin' Combo 2, which has one monstrous crab, crawfish, shrimp, potatoes and more! The waitress hands us our bibs and tells us the food will be out shortly. "I love this thing," Preston laughs. "You're so weird," I giggle and put my bib on. "You look really cute in it actually," he says, "and I got you something for you know, our three month." "Aw you didn't have to," I say as he hands me a fancy white box. "Yeah I did; you're my girlfriend," he runs his finger over my knuckles. I open the box and my mouth shoots open, "Preston! A Pandora bracelet? Ohmygosh. I love it!" "It's blue sapphire," he smiles, "your favorite." "It's so perfect... I got you something too!" I open my purse and take out a box, "It's not much... but you've been saying how much you needed one." His eyes widen when he opens it, "you got me a new watch? And it's Armani! You're crazy." "I'm glad you like it. I've always been bad at choosing gifts for people," I smile. "Like for Oliver?" he blurts out. "Yeah," I laugh as Preston's face gets serious all of a sudden. "Terissa, I've always wanted to know what happened between the two of you... And I don't want to ruin our date but-" he says. "No... It's alright. I should tell you right? I have been keeping it for a while. I'm just ashamed of it," I say slowly. "So tell me," he smiles. "Well..." I say, "it started off with my dad cheating on my mom. That's why they divorced; um, my mother and I stayed together, and my brother and my dad left." "I'm so sorry, Ter," he brushes his finger tips against my knuckles and puts his hand on top of mine. "My last name used to be Bennett, but I started using my mom's last name, Lennox," I continue. "Not to sound rude or anything, but... What does this have to do with Oliver?" he asks confused. "Hmmm," I say. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Flashback Things at home haven't been going too well. My dad and mom are constantly arguing, and on top of that, I can't even concentrate on my school work. I never mentioned any of this to Oliver, because I didn't want him to worry about me. I just go to school every day with a smile on my face, just like nothing is going on. On the other hand, things with Oliver have been great, other than me not telling him about my problems at home. It's been about a year since we first started dating. Honestly, I'm so happy, that sometimes I forget about my parents arguing. Oliver is truly the love of my life. Today, Oliver is staying after school for a theater club meeting on the spring musical. Essentially, I don't have a ride home, meaning, I have to walk. It's not too bad, considering I get to clear my head as I make my way home. I finally get to my house and surprisingly, the front door is wide open. I walk inside and hear the china hitting the ground. Shattered dinnerware is everywhere, along with broken picture frames and holes in walls. "M-mom?" I gulp. "YOU KNOW WHAT, MASON?" my mom screams and sobs, "just get the hell out. Terissa never deserved this in the first place." "Terissa this, Terissa that, why do you love her so much? What did she ever do for you? All she does is run around with that emo boy," he eggs on. "I love her because she's my DAUGHTER. You were never a father to her," she screeches. "Ty is about to go to college and you do nothing for him! You're worthless!" he cackles. They argue on for a while, with me standing in the other room listening to them. In the end, it's been decided, my parents are getting divorced. End of Flashback •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• "My mom didn't tell me he cheated on her until later on," I say sadly. "You didn't deserve that, Ter," he walks over to me and gives me a hug, "you deserve so much more for being so strong through everything." "I've always heard that... but what do I deserve then?" I question. "You deserve the best, and nothing less," he rhymes poetically. I giggle and plant a kiss on his lips. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Many clams and one large crab later, Preston and I decide to take a walk around the park to let our huge dinner digest. The sun is just setting and the hill at Patterson Park is perfect for viewing the sunset. We sit down with our heads touching and fingertips grasping, watching the sun disappear from human existence for the evening. "Babe, you still never told me about Oliver," Preston finally says. "Oh yeah. It's kinda embarrassing," I giggle, "but I'll tell you, I guess." •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Flashback The same day my parents decided on a divorce, Oliver texts me an urgent message. I wonder what he's so excited about, so I quickly text him back. I kept my word, and in ten minutes, I arrived at the entrance. I sat down on a nearby bench waiting for Oliver's car to show up in the empty parking lot. I piece my words together on how I'm going to tell Oliver about my parents' divorce. I weighed down my options. Oliver, my dad cheated on my mom and he's an ass. No... Too harsh. Something bad happened today, but I don't want to talk about it with you... Hmm... Too desperate. My parents divorced today. Too straightforward. I reorganize my thoughts just as Oliver speeds quickly into the parking spot near the entrance. "Terissa!!! Hey!" he waves and sprints over to me. "Hey," I croak as he pounces on me for a hug with a huge smile on his face. "Let's go to the fountain! I gotta tell you something!" he grabs my hand and drags me to the fountain. He sits me down and turns to face me, "Guess what?" "I dunno," I say awkwardly. He ignores my unenthusiastic response and continues, "My dad got landed me an audition a couple months ago for a TV show in England! And I got it! My plane leaves tomorrow night to film this coming Saturday!" "Wait," I stop him, "you had an audition and you didn't tell me?" "Well, if I didn't get the part, it would've looked bad, and I wanted to surprise you!" he grins. "Wow, that was... unexpected," I say hiding my feelings. "I know right?! Gosh, I'm so excited! This is what I want for my life! To be an actor and singer! It's coming true! Can you believe it?" he hugs me. "So you're definitely going? You haven't thought about it?" I ask, slightly sad. "What's there to think about? This is the only thing I want for me. The only thing that's important to me! I didn't give it a second thought!" he smiles widely and pulls me into a hug, "I knew you'd understand!" "Oh, yeah," my fake smile turns into a frown when he hugs me. I can't believe he just told me my opinion didn't matter. I thought he loved me. I thought he cared about. I thought I was the only thing that he cared about. I thought I was the only thing he wanted. I thought I was his future. But I guess not. "You're being quiet," he says releasing me from the tight hug. "Oh really? I didn't notice," I lie. "OH! What did you want to tell me?! I remember you saying that!" he smiles. "Oh, um, it's nothing," I quickly say. "Okay!!" he says too excited to notice my sadness. Nothing, just like us. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• "He didn't even care that you didn't tell him something obviously important to you?" Preston says shocked. "Yeah, pretty much," I say wiping my tears away. "Hey, don't cry," he wipes my tears for me and kisses the places where they fell, "it's all over now." "I'm just so happy I found someone better," I cup his face into my hands. "I won't leave you like that... I don't think I could ever. It's so corny to say, since we just started going out, but it's true," he smiles. I kiss him on those soft lips of his, our mouths intertwining and moving together. I wrap my arms around his neck and ruffle his hair; while his hands go to my waist. Our kiss intensifies and we both struggle to breathe. We stay like that for a couple minutes until I end the kiss with deep breaths and hug him. "I didn't finish my story," I smile. "Tell me," he kisses my cheek. I lay my head down on his lap and look up at his face staring down at me, "So, I'm an idiot, but we tried to do long distance. He called me everyday to talk to me, but it wasn't the same. I never did tell him parents divorced; he was always talking about himself and how the show is a huge hit in England and what not," I say. "Wow, how self-centered," Preston adds. "Well, yeah. Eventually, those calls came once a week, then once a month and then he never called me again. Every time I tried, it would go to voicemail. Until I heard about something," I say. "Tell me," Preston says playing with my hair. "In February, I was looking at a British celebrity gossip site and saw a headline: MIND GAME'S STAR OLIVER RUSSELL AND STAR OF TRAITOR, WINONA SALKS HAS ANNOUNCED THEIR ENGAGEMENT. Underneath had an article about the two of them and a picture of them smiling and holding hands," I look down and sigh. "I'm so sorry, Ter... I say this all the time, but... I really am," he says playing with the ends of my hair. "That's when I lost it... I just got so depressed. I couldn't handle going back to school to face the people or the memories," I say. "I'll never make you feel the way he did. I want you to be happy. That's what I want, for you to be happy," he smiles and bends over to kiss my nose and lips. "I'm glad," I smile. "I-I love you, Terissa," Preston blushes. "I love you too, Preston," I sit up and we sit there, kissing for a long time. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• The drive back home is silent, but full of smiles. It's dark outside, but I feel his smile; that's how much I'm around him. I can feel his feelings, happiness, sadness, craziness, everything. We arrive to my house and the street is packed. My neighbor must be having a get together for the holidays. "You go in first, I'm going to go park the car," Preston smiles and kisses my cheek as I push the car door open. None of the lights in the house are on; mom must be sleeping, her car is in the driveway. I take my keys out and unlock the front door. I leave the door unlocked for Preston to come in and wander into the kitchen. I turn on the lights and see a shadow from the neighboring hallway. "Mom?" I call, getting a little freaked out. I hear nothing but silence, so I turn around and try to forget about it. You just be dreaming.. I thought to myself. I turn around to go to the sink and clean the dishes left for me there, when I see the shadow again, "Who's there?" After silence, I decide to clean the dishes; when I reach for the handle to turn the water on, I hear a voice I recognized so clearly, "Hi Riza." No you're dreaming, Terissa. You're dreaming. I say to myself. I turn around to see if I'm imagining something, but I'm not. I choke on my spit realizing the deep voice I recognized, ever so clearly. "O-Oliver?" •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• FANGIRL AWAY! Just note, I didn't proofread because it's 11PM right now and I'm tired. I'll try to update ASAP, but I'm really busy .
NO NO NO NO! GO AWAY OLIVER, YOU EGOCENTRIC, SELF-CENTERED, NO GOOD, EGOTISTICAL ARSE! YOU SHOW UP AFTER WHAT? ONE, TWO YEARS? AND YOU SAY, "Hey, Riza." NO NO NO NO. I WILL NOT ALLOW IT! *pushes Oliver off a cliff* Just kidding, but seriously, he does not even deserve to even be in the same town as her, the ass! I just now hate him. Throw him off a cliff. Just do it. I just hate people like that. I mean, the freaking nerve of that guy! I just, oh my gosh, I just can't believe he could be so self-centered and thought that fame was better than love. Here's a good quote for ya: "Love is worth more than money. But it is much harder to find." -Shana I actually came up with that. Because it's so true. Do yourself a favor, Oliver, and get the hell away from Terissa before Preston pops up and beats your ass. I would approve of it so much. Okay, that was my lovely little rant on how much I hate Oliver. BUMP! AND I JUST ADORE PRESTON AND TERISSA!
