Just finished! Hope y'all like it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Rose!" I heard and was pushed out of the way. The train flashed by and I was pushed to the ground. "Rose, are you okay?!" Matt exclaimed as he got up. "Fine," I replied, also getting up. "Thanks for saving me." I walked over to the deer and fully killed it. "It's no problem," he said and picked up the deer. "We should get going. The reaping will start in a couple hours." I nodded and started walking with Matt. He carried the deer with little or no problem until we got to my home in Victor's Village. He handed over the deer at my door and planted a quick kiss on my cheek. I waved goodbye and walked inside. I sat the deer on the table and called to Mom. I walked upstairs and went to my room. I saw my reaping dress on my bed. It was a red dress with ruffles at the bottom and no straps. My mother wore it at her interview with Caesar during her first Hunger Games, as you might have heard. I smiled and walked into the bathroom and took a shower. I scrubbed the dirt off my face, my arms and legs to get rid of deer blood. I washed the sweat and grime out of my hair. When I got out I put on the dress and the shoes that matched and walked downstairs. My father was sitting at the table, his back to me. My mother was speaking with him as she was washing her hands at the sink. Then she turned around and saw me. "Oh my... Rose, you look beautiful!" she exclaimed. My father turned around and nodded in agreement. "She's right. You look like her during her first interview, beautiful." "Peeta," my mother said blushing lightly. I smiled. "Thanks, Mom and Dad." I sat down and my mother started braiding my hair. "So, are you still living up to that vow?" my father asked. He was talking about the vow I had made when I was fourteen. I vowed that I would volunteer for any younger girl whose name was picked out of the glass ball that held the girl's names. "Of course, Dad. Every girl has a future, and it's to live. I'm helping their future," I replied sadly. "I don't like it," my mother said. "But you survived! So did my father!" "That is because I kept him alive. So did-" she stopped herself. She was going to say Finnick or Gale. Which one, I don't know. My dad put a hand on my mother's for comfort. She smiled at him and looked back at me. "Luckily, your brother isn't in it yet." "Not yet, Mom," I heard. I turned around and saw my little brother Hunter come down the stairs in one of my father's old dress clothes from the Capitol. I smiled at him, "You aren't even going to be in the reaping let alone the Capitol." "I must be prepared for you," he retorted proudly. He was always too proud because of the family name. My mother laughed. "Now, come along, you two. We have to hurry. Or we'll be late!" We all got up and walked to the square. I examined the new buildings, shops, houses, and such that was built within the last thirty years. As I walked to the roped area with the other sixteen year olds, my parents headed up to the Justice Building and Hunter stayed behind the ropes and children in the reaping. "Hello, District 12," my mother said cheerfully, hiding her sadness. "Welcome to the reaping for the twenty-fourth Arena! And now, here is a word from our wonderful mayor!" She clapped and sat down next to my father as the mayor stepped up to the podium. He started talking about the Hunger Games, how it stopped, how the Arena began, and that sort of thing. "Thank you, and good luck to the tributes," he ended shaking hands with my mother. "Thank you, sir," my mother said as she walked over to the podium. "Now, as my old escort would say, may the odds be EVER in your favor!" She smiled as she remembered Effie, who was at the Capitol as she spoke. "Now, the moment we have all waited for. Ladies first." She walked over to the glass ball with the girls' names in it. She reached her hand in it and mixed the names around. My name was in there only five times because of who I was. I watched her as her hand grasped a slip. She pulled it out as she smiled at everyone. She walked back to the podium. She opened the slip and fear flashed across her face. Her eyes flickered towards me. I knew then. I knew whose name was on that slip. I closed my eyes and held my breath. And then I heard her say, "The female tribute is..." She took a deep breath. "Primrose Mellark."
