    Chapter 1(Part1)
    Rose

They came and gone. He died and so did they. We all thought it wouldn't happen again. The Hunger Games were gone and now they are back. Not entirely the same, of course. But now it's called the Arena.
It started eight years before I was born. Mom tried to stop it, but President Abigal Snow wouldn't listen.
Now, children 13-17 would be forced to enter the Arena. Like the Hunger Games, there is a reaping. I have two more years of this. And I spent time like my mother would, hunting.
If you didn't figure this out by now, my mother is Katniss Everdeen, but she goes by Mellark now. She was the Mockingjay, the Girl on Fire, you probably heard her story. I have a little brother who is twelve named Hunter. My father, as you know, is Peeta Mellark. And me, I am Rose Mellark. I was named after my aunt Primrose.
I walked past the torn down electric fence that no one bothered to fix. Gale and other survivors of the Seam tore it down, as you may know. I picked through the remains as bits and pieces tug at the hem of my jeans.
I walked deep into the Meadow. I picked and pushed my way the tree that held my bow. I reached into the nook of the old elm to realise, it's not there.
At first, I don't jump into any conclusions. I just pushed my way to the young pine that held my quiver of arrows, thinking that I misplaced my bow there.
When a root caught my jeans, I fell, only to be caught by the earth. Grass and dirt covered my face. I got up and kept going. I would wash my face later.
I finally got to the young pine and peered into the tree's branches. I didn't see anything except needles and branches. There wasn't a bow or arrow in sight. Great, I thought, who would want to take my bow and quiver full of arrows knowing it would irritate me?

  12. Who took her bow? A friend? Enemy? Best friend? Who did it?

"Matt," I muttered. Matt was the guy I loved with all my heart. And I intended to marry him.
I picked my way through brush and branches slowly and stealthily. Then I saw a figure about fifteen to twenty feet away. I pushed my way toward it. When I came up behind it, I took its hand and and whispered in its ear, "It's wrong to steal from the love of your life."
"Really?" he replied sarcastically. He turned around and peered into my clear blue eyes with his sparkling green ones. "How are you?" he asked and kissed me lightly.
"Good, but first, hand them over," I replied, holding my hand out.
"What are you talking about?" He smirked.
"Matt," I said sternly. I have a short fuse when it comes to my temper.
"Fine," he scowled and gave me my bow and quiver of arrows.
"Thank you," I replied with a smile. "Now, let's go hunt."
We headed out, searching for some game. Finally, we spotted some deer. We followed them into a clearing. As I took aim, I heard a rumbling. I didn't think anything about it, at first. I let the arrow fly, watching it hit the deer's eye, making it fall to the ground, almost dead. I heard the rumbling once more. I looked around and noticed, I was on the train tracks.
    "Rose!" I heard.
