After what seemed like an eternity we had killed all of the creatures, and the adrenaline rush I was running on was completely drained. I slumped onto the first rock I could find that wasn't completely covered with blood. stephanie sat opposite me, and we both stayed there for a while to rest and clean our weapons, being careful not to touch the blood. We started to talk, and told eachother what had happened while they were gone. Stephanie explained how she had ventured too deep into the forest and it had gotten far too late without her realizing. I told her what had happened while she was in the forest. "Well after you left, Abigail took us to your parents' house. she said something about there being more room for everyone. At least you won't have to sleep next to Arthur anymore." I smirked when I said that, and quickly tried to hide it. I had nothing against Arthur, I just didn't appreciate the fact he got to be so close to her. Also, it's fun to annoy him. The result is spectacular! Well, it is to me. "we waited there for ages, wondering where you were. We agreed to just wait for you to come back, but I sneaked out anyway." "it's lucky you did. I would be dead by now otherwise. How on earth did you find me?" "I didn't. It was just pure luck." well, not pure luck. The retching and the sounds of mutants were pretty hard to miss... "did anybody notice that you left?" "I don't think so, but we should be getting back before they do." I had completely forgotten about the mysterious figure watching me from the window. We both stood up, but she sat back down again at once. I wondered if she had broken some bones. I spotted blood trickling down her arm, and rapidly cleaned and bandaged the wound. I also gave her some water so she could wash the taste of sick from her mouth. "thanks." "no problem. Can you walk?" I asked her while putting the rest of the water and bandages Back into my bag. The answer to that was already quite obvious, but I decided to give her a chance to prove me wrong. "I'm not sure..." she got up and tried to take a few steps. The expression on her face told me everything I needed to know. I stood, picked her up and started to make my way back. "I... Umm..." "it's fine. You don't have to say anything." I needed her to be quiet, or else we would get lost again. I kept walking, and after a while I realized she had fallen asleep, her head against my chest. She looked so sweet. I managed to retrace my steps, and after about half an hour of walking we got back to her parents house. She had woken up, and I set her on the ground as gently as I could. "Thank you..." "Its ok. I would do anything for you." she looked up at me. "Really?" She asked. It sounded slightly sarcastic, but I couldn't care less. I pretended not to notice. "Really." I said, and I leaned down and kissed her. I saw a shadow in a nearby window, but I didn’t care if anyone was watching. I kept kissing Stephanie, not wanting this moment to end. Then, somebody opened the door. "Umm... Is this a bad time?" asked Arthur. I will kill that bastard. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
