    The Library
    Arthurs Point Of View

    "whoosh"

I grinned as it went straight through its chest. As usual, I was right on target.

It fell onto the floor, dead, with blood flowing out of the hole I created and making a puddle on the ground.

The girl who I had saved stood up. She looked unharmed, but shaky. I called over to her.

    "Are you ok?" I asked.
"Who's there!?" The girl asked, facing away from me. She backed away from me (well, she thought she was, but she was really backing towards me).
She tripped over and fell backwards. I quickly stepped forward to catch her.

"It's only me. There's nothing to be scared about." I said soothingly. She seemed to calm down a little. The girl turned around, and I got a proper look at her.

I was staring into a pair of dark brown eyes, barely a shade from black. Her brown, wavy hair tumbled down her back, leading my eyes to-- no Arthur, look back up...

    "I wasn't scared." she said.
I could tell she was lying. Who wouldn't be scared from what had just happened? I decided to flirt with her a bit.
"really? You looked quite scared when that thing was about to sink it's teeth into your pretty face."
I smirked as her cheeks went as red as her lips. Those red, luscious lips...

She scowled at me. She looked around 17, a year younger than me, but when she scowled she seemed a lot older. And angrier.

"my name is Arthur. Arthur Fennon. What's yours?" I asked.
"Stephanie." she said. "Stephanie Wilson." I smiled. A beautiful name to match a beautiful girl.
"cute name. almost as cute as you." I expected her to respond, but she had gone off on some sort of daydream.

"steph? Hey steph! Are you still there?" I said, waving my hands in front of her face.

After a few seconds of waving wildly in front of her, she got her head out of the clouds. She was probably just deep in thought.
She blinked and shook her head.

    "huh?"
    I laughed.
"if you keep doing that you'll be killed before you know it. Either that or worse." I said to her.

She knows what will happen if she isn't constantly alert and on her toes. Everyone does. If you don't pay attention, you die.

"I know what I'm doing." she said with annoyed look and went to pick up her knife. Thankfully, she stuck it through her belt and not my throat. She looked like she was seriously considering it though.

"I have lived here all my life. I'm not a helpless little girl."
She had lived here all her life? I couldn't remember seeing her. Maybe I've seen her at school before when we were small...
