Jeremy's POV Alex pulled away, giving me a small kiss. "I love you," she said. "I love you, too," I smiled, taking her hands in mine. She loved when I did this. "Hey, lovebirds," Marissa said, walking up to us. "Marissa," Alex said, getting up to hug her. "We can't thank you enough!" "Well, I can't let my little sister get locked up for something she didn't do!" Marissa joked. We all talked and laughed for a while. "I've got to go run an errand," I said. "I'll call you later, Alex!" "Bye," she hugged me. I walked out to my car, and started driving to the mall. As soon as I got there, I walked in. It was a HUGE mall; it was four stories tall and had over a hundred stores. It was the perfect place to go for what I'm getting Alex. I walked into Jared, the largest jewelry store in this mall. It was pretty big for a jewelry store. "May I help you?" a clerk asked as I walked up to one of the cases. "I'm just looking for something for my girlfriend," I smiled. "May I ask what?" he said. "So I can help you more?" I paused for a moment, looking down at the glistening diamonds in the showcase. I looked back up at the clerk, who was wondering what I was doing. "An engagement ring," I smiled.
Part 29: Jeremy's POV "Oooh!" the clerk chirped. "And who might the lucky lady be?" "Her name is Alex," I smiled. Just saying her name made me smile. "She's one lucky girl," he said. "What's your price range, sir?" "Around six thousand," I replied. I came from an extremely rich family. "Holy..." the man started, then cleared his throat. "O-okay." He pulled out three beautiful, amazing rings. I immediately picked out one with small diamonds embedded around the whole ring, with three larger diamonds on the top. "That one's a beauty," the clerk said, seeing that I had been studying the ring. "I'll take it," I smiled. After paying the cashier for the most amazing ring I had ever seen, I took the little box out of my pocket. On the top, in fine cursive letters, it said, "He went to Jared!" Advertising much? Then, I opened the delicate little box and studied the ring for a while longer. The beautiful diamonds glistened in the sunlight coming from the windows. I was interrupted by my phone ringing. I quickly put the box in my pocket and answered the phone. "Hello?" I asked. "It's...Alex..." I heard someone breathe from the other line. "What?" I asked. "Who is this?" "It's...Marissa....Alex....in the hospital....come quick!" she panicked. The line went dead. I practically ran over people while trying to get to my car. I drove as fast as I could trying to get to the hospital. I rushed into the emergency room up to the front desk. "Where's Alex Porter?" I asked hurriedly. She told me pointed in the direction of where her room was. I bolted there as fast as I could. When I walked in, I saw Alex laying on her hospital bed, looking more helpless than when Mary knocked her out. This brought tears to my eyes. Marissa was sitting on a chair in the corner with her head in her hands, crying softly. "What....happened?" I choked. She looked up at me, and started crying for a minute. Then she finally spoke. "We were leaving the courthouse," she started. "We had to cross the street to get to our car. It came out of nowhere...the truck was going over the speed limit...and hit her head-on..." She took out a tissue and blew her nose in it. "And now...she's in a coma," she cried. "The doctors say she won't make it. But I won't lose her again." "She's strong," I said. "She'll make it." I took out the ring and walked over to Alex. I heard Marissa gasp behind me. I took Alex's hand and slid it on her finger. "I wish you could say yes," I cried softly. I brought up a chair and took her hand in mine, knowing she used to love when I did this. Used to... I don't know when, but at one point I fell asleep. In the dream... Alex was standing in front of me, tears filling her eyes. "I can't live without you, Alex!" I cried. "I'll do anything to bring you back! Please! Please...come back..." "I can't," she cried. "Don't worry about me. I love you, but our future together is impossible..." "Don't leave!" I yelled. "Please!" "I'll never stop loving you," she said. "Have a good life, Jeremy. Stay happy..." And she disappeared. End of dream I woke up suddenly. It was nighttime Alex was still lying on her hospital bed, and our hands were still locked together. I needed to get some fresh air. I walked outside of the hospital, only thinking of one place to go: a church. As I rounded the curb, I was blinded by two bright lights. Then everything went black. ATTENTION: the next update will be the VERY LAST update of this story! It will be pretty long, like this one, so it's like a double update in one post. Anyways, I shall post it sometime tonight. Part 30 (Final Part): Jeremy's POV A bright white room surrounded me. It feels like I'm dreaming again. Then I saw her. I started running towards Alex, and she started running towards me, like in the movies. "I've come here to save you," I whispered in her ear. "Just as I promised." She looked at me and smiled. Just before our lips could touch, a bright light flashed, taking her away from me. Alex's POV I woke up feeling lightheaded. The dainty smell of medicine filled my nose. "She's awake!" shouted a woman from the side of the room. "Mom..." I whispered. My mom came up and hugged me tightly. I saw my dad and my sister, Mary, gasping and crying tears of joy in the back. I pulled away from my mom. This was confusing...Mary was supposed to be dead! And all of those memories with Jeremy and Marissa seemed...vague and faded. "What's wrong, honey?" my mom asked sweetly, still crying from shock. "Mary's supposed to be....d-dead..." I stammered. "What?" my mom laughed. "You must have been dreaming!" "It was so real, though..." I trailed off. "Wait...Jeremy! Marissa!" "Who?" my mom, dad, and Mary all asked in unison. "My boyfriend! And Mary's twin!" I exclaimed. My mother and father exchanged confused glances. "Honey," my mom spoke. "Mary doesn't have a twin. And you don't have a boyfriend. You've been in a coma for three months. You were on your way to a blind date, and on your way there, a car hit your car head-on. You were beaten up pretty bad." She softly cried for a moment, pulling out a tissue, but I wasn't paying attention. All of my memories with Jeremy...Mary being dead...Mary's twin sister.... It was all a dream. Two weeks later... I finally got out of the hospital, and was on my way to the blind date that I was supposed to be at a few months ago. I can't believe he had still wanted to go out with me after all of this time...it was sweet. I arrived at a little coffee shop on the corner of the street. I saw only one man inside, and I knew that was my date. As soon as I walked in, I saw who it was... It was Jeremy. I ran to him, giving him a huge hug. "Thanks for saving me," I whispered in his ear. "Dream Boy." It wasn't as long as I expected, but that's the end of the story! I may not do a sequel, so if you want a sequel, please comment on this thread saying you want one.
