Alex's POV Kissing him was like standing on the edge of the world. It was like all my best memories rolled into one. Fifty new dresses. A song I couldn't live without. The sun on my skin. It was the kind of kiss that made me know that I was never so happy in my entire life. He pulled away and smiled down at me. "Now do you believe me?" his smile grew. "Definitely," I smiled back, wrapping my arms around his neck. "Jeremy and Alex," said the police officer that drove us here, walking up to our cell. "It's time for your trial." We slowly got up and walked behind the officer without a word. Disturbing men and women tried reaching out for us as we passed their cells. I clung onto Jeremy's arm tightly. He sensed I was scared, and wrapped his arm around me while walking, holding me close. We got into the police officer's car, and drove silently to the court. "Everything will be okay," said Jeremy as we were guided to the entrance. He took my hand in his and held on. I never wanted him to let go. Especially when I walked in and saw who was there...
Part 26: Alex's POV "Max..." I whispered under my breath. Jeremy caught me glaring and looked to where my eyes were glued. He immediately tensed up at my side and squeezed my hand tighter. Max strutted up to us, winking at me when he was a few feet away. "Hey, gorgeous," he smiled. He turned to Jeremy. "Hey, jalawb." "And what's a 'jalawb'?" Jeremy rolled his eyes. "That's for me to know, and for you to find out," Max sneered, putting his hands in his pockets. Him and Jeremy exchanged glares for a few moments, then I led Jeremy away to where we had to sit. The trial started fifteen minutes later, and was going by pretty smoothly. After about two hours of arguing back and forth, the judge said that it was now time for the jury to declare its verdict. One of the members of the jury stood up and put his glasses on. He picked up a piece of paper that would determine the rest of mine and Jeremy's lives. Then he spoke. "We find the defendants... Find out next update
Sorry for not updating for a few days! I'll do three updates today to make it up Alex's POV "We find the defendants, Alex and Jeremy, both guilty of the murder of Mary." said the man in the glasses. I heard boos and yelling coming from the audience, obviously not being pleased by the verdict. "That's impossible!" screamed Jeremy. I took his hand in mine, instantly calming him down from what he would later regret doing. "Thank you," Jeremy whispered to me. I nodded, tears filling my eyes. What would happen to both of us in jail? We would probably never see each other...that thought completely breaks my heart. "STOP!" someone screamed from the back of the room. I turned around...it was Marissa. Jeremy must have noticed her, too, because he immediately tensed up at my side. Marissa walked down the middle of the court. Everyone in the audience and jury were giving her confusing looks, wondering what she was about to do. She was holding something in her hand, but I couldn't tell what it was. She walked up to the judge and handed him what looked like a disc. "Play it," she snapped. "It's proof." "Proof of what?" the judge snapped back. "Play it and you'll see," she said, thrusting the disc into the judge's hands. She stepped back and crossed her arms over her chest, waiting for the impatient judge to give in. He finally did, and handed the disc to a police officer next to him, who put the disc into a CD Player nearby. A few moments later, a screen appeared on the TV. A shiver went down my spine when I saw what it was... It was the night at the jail. It showed me with turned around with my hands covering my eyes, and Marissa and Mary on the other side, talking. I missed all of this, I guess I had blacked out. In the video... "Mary, stop," Marissa said slowly. "You don't want to do anything you'll regret." "Oh, but I won't regret this," Mary said evilly. "You guys have caused me enough pain for one lifetime." "What are you going to do?" Marissa shivered. Mary just smirked, satisfied that Marissa was scared out of her mind. "I'll see you in hell," Mary sneered. Then I heard a gunshot. But Marissa wasn't holding the gun... Mary was. Mary killed herself. End of video Gasps of horror bellowed from the audience. I heard children crying from the echoing gunshot that rang in their fragile ears. The judge sat there in astonishment. I thought he was going to have a heart attack. The same man that spoke for the jury earlier stood up again. "After observing this video," he spoke blatantly. "We have established a new verdict. We find the defendants, Alex and Jeremy, innocent of all charges in this case. We declare Mary's death as a suicide." "Court adjourned," the judge announced. After walking outside of the building, Jeremy and I hugged each other tightly. "We did it," I whispered in his ear. "Anything's possible as long as we're together," he whispered back, hugging me tighter.
