The Coffee Stain Coffee stains are fairly common things, but are they just a stain? An annoying, golden brown clump on a piece of brilliant, clean paper? I don't think so, coffee stains are so much more. A stain indicates usage. Take a good book, look at every page. Now try and tell me that there is not a single stain. I won't believe you. Maybe there is no coffee stain, but there ought to be a mark. Something that indicates that the book was well used and loved can certainty be found in a man-made, unique blemish. If the book has a wonderful fault such as this, it can easily be determined that it was well read. The person reading it had settled down, book in one hand - perhaps on a table - and a mug of hot coffee in the other. In this position - hopefully of relaxation - the stainer opened their mind and loved the book. Being immersed, not wanting to take their eye off the words, but desperate for a sip of hot, replenishing coffee, they moved their hand and slightly missed their mouth, creating a beautiful mark on the pages. Of course not every mark appears on a book, many appear on papers. A coffee stain on a paper doesn't show the usage or love that it does on a book, but nevertheless, it still portrays a message. It shows the paper was carefully looked at, studied, and read. Just like on a book, a coffee stain on a piece of paper, has meaning. Each mark produced is truly unique and wonderful. Every stain has its own shape, size, and, of course, an everlasting warm scent. And not only is it there as an indicator of the afore mentioned, but it also exists to promote creative thought.
