  5. I think this may be the longest supernatural thread still going on. Good job. Detail is good, I don't have an critique for this story.

  8. Katze hissed at Susan, and leaped from my arms, running into the house. Susan arched an eyebrow, and headed down the hall. "I'm making coffee."
    "Coffee?"
"Tea won't be strong enough to handle what's going on." she muttered, and she disappeared in the kitchen.
Ian looked me over, led me into the sitting room, and sat me at a chair. He pulled another over, and perched on the edge of the seat.
    "Tell me what happened."
"My…" my voice cracked, and the years ran again. "My parents are dead… some things impersonated them, and t-tried to kill me too…"
I couldn't go on anymore. I buried my face in my hands and began to sob, my composure shattering. What the woman said was true, I had took my family for granted. Even though they weren't present most of the time, they were still my family. Ian comfortingly wrapped an arm around me, and I leaned onto him for support.
    "C-can't we call the police?"
"Unfortunately, we cannot." he muttered. I looked up at him in surprise, and he stood up.
"I have to show you something."
We walked upstairs to the study, and Ian pulled a huge book out of the oak bookshelf. He wiped dust off the cover, and placed the book on the desk with a heavy thud.
    The title read: "σκιά φατριών"
I looked at Ian questioningly, and he translated for me. "skiá fatrió̱n."
"Shadow Clan?" I muttered. He nodded, flipping the book open to a creased page.
"You see, the Shadow Clan is a society that's been around for centuries. They've prided themselves on doing good, and ridding evil from any place they travel to. So they say."
    "What do you mean?"
"The leader of the Shadow Clan believes in a world with peace and harmony everywhere."
    "And…? Doesn't everyone?"
"Well, yes. Even I do. But Utopia is completely unnatainable. History repeats itself, people make bad decisions consciously and unconciously." he muttered, closing the book.
    "By unconciously, you mean… us?"
"Yeah. And because we do our jobs, the Shadow Clan is bent on destroying us. They don't understand what they're aiming for is impossible. A world without the bad will just lead into chaos."
I leaned against the desk, taking in what he said. It was completely unreal… to be suddenly thrown into a world of sins and secret societies… it was overwhelming.
    "Where do I come in?"
"The Shadow Clan considers you evil. All the sins put together? Well, almost all of them. Persephone, you're extremely powerful. They want you dead."
I blinked, holding back another onslaught of tears. I was on a hit list. People didn't want me to exist, because of what I was. I clenched my hands to keep from crying, and stood up straight.
    "My parents? Why'd they… kill them…?"
"…they're going to try to isolate you."
My thoughts flashed to Jade, and worry pierced my stomach. What about her? Will they kill her too? I wiped at my eyes, and walked away from the desk.
    "Persephone?"
I staggered, sinking to my knees in one quick movement. I felt… numb, really. Ian rushed over, taking my hand to keep me upright.
    "Just… let me faint…" I muttered.
He gave me a look of understanding, and I let go of his hand, the carpet coming up to meet me. I didn't find it strange that I wanted to faint.

I just needed to escape reality for a while.
