I think it's worth discussing ways to improve communication across the server. As it stands, campus chat is often dominated by languages that many players from other regions don't understand, making it difficult for a large portion of the community to participate in conversations. While everyone should be free to speak their preferred language, the result is that campus can sometimes feel inaccessible to players who don't share those languages. Perhaps PIMD could explore better translation features or other solutions that help improve communication across the server. The goal isn't to exclude any community, but to make campus feel more inclusive and engaging for all players. Also, how about a dark mode ahem š
From help center concerning the language . Only purpose was to inform on the current direction of the game *
Appreciate the info. I meant translation tools for player chat rather than translating the game itself.
I feel like this would be a technical pain. Besides having to accurately translate every line of text in the game, how would this really improve the gameās QoL?
Nahh no need. If you are interested in talking to people who speak different languages then just learn the language. Same way that they are made to learn english to some degree to interact with others. Google translate is average at best. This will only go wrong if it was added into the game. Even english is different between different english speaking countries. I had to learn american english, their words and ways of speaking, to be able to communicate with majority of other players on here coz people struggle to understand me otherwise coz of different ways of saying things, different slang, different sayings, different words for the same things. Why is it always 'conform to me and my way' instead of 'let me learn your way of life'.....
THIS REPLY SHOWS HOW UNEDUCATED YOU ARE, GOOGLE TRANSLATE?, should I ss everything chat i see on campus then ask Ai or Google to translate it. Pimd is an English game, if you can understand everything in it and know how to use, how is it hard for you to write in English. Do you know how many people in this world in different countries that are playing pimd and you want her to go learn every language. How many do you know?, how many can you speak. There's nothing wrong in speaking or writing your language but do it privately, not in public chat and stop being a nuisance to other players. This is why pimd isn't fun anymore bc I can't communicate with people when I'm seeing language that will take months and years to learn. If you can't speak English, don't play an English GAME. Thank you š
How about putting language barrier, English only, bc this is getting out of hand, the mod aren't even doing anything, some even join to speak in their language, how is it helping, if everyone start using their language, how will the game continue or progress. Please help us to solve this issue bc I'm running mad on pimd š¤
No....i specifically said google translate is average at best. Meaning its a bad idea to add it to auto translate things said in the game. No one is making you talk with everyone. If there is someone you want to talk to easier then take a interest in learning their language. OTHER LANGUAGES ARE ALLOWED TO EXIST. You are making this a bigger deal then it needs to be. This is a international game. Stop trying to erase other languages from existence. This push from so many people trying to make english the only language in the world is fuckd
Everything in PIMD is in English. The game mechanics, posts from devs/mods and so much more. Majority of the time I see only English in public channels and on the off chance I do see different languages in public settings itās between 2-3 people, myself included. On a game that preaches about inclusivity trying to make this game only have English speakers and no other language to cut off that language barrier is a little extreme and it could be taken really harmful for other languages and backgrounds. I genuinely donāt see an issue with someone speaking in their native tongue. Some also do not speak English as their first language so the English to their language barrier would also be an issue.āŗļø it doesnāt stop others from participating in conversations with other people and its not harmful to anyoneā¦unless it is used to hurt people. I think having a diverse game is pretty great to seeš©µ
Most ppl prefer speaking in their native language and take pride in doing so, whenever they can. One doesn't have to understand each and every chat in public channel. If one has friends in campus, one may use the language they both understand. As far as help/club banner/gifts/buy/sell is concerned, it is done in English only. I personally find diversity in public chat channels fun and interesting. I'm Indian and speak Hindi and English, but pimd helped me learn some tagalog, lots of nepali, and some more native languages. I find it fun without a translator. Translator will only create confusion when it will not translate accurately, as the chat used is never grammatically correct.
There are games with working translation features. So it is possible to include, since other developers have done it. It might not be perfect but no translator is. Even google translate struggles. The game lacks quite a few QoL updates anyway, would be nice if they started to work on these features more. Now if I check campus, I barely see english being spoken. Thatās fine, but itās hard to jump in any discussion on a whim like before. After the new channel system was updated, I started to see less English being spoken.
