UPDATE Chat Channel Updates

  1. I agree with this, right now Union seems to be like a catch all for the leftovers.. And they don’t fit together super well.

  2. When the mods "humble" brag about all the silences they're giving out..

If I get silenced for posting in the wrong chat because there's now way too many chats, I legit quit.

And constantly telling me "this chat is for blah blah blah go to blah blah instead" isn't helpful when I have a memory worse than Dory's.
Can't ata at least put it permanently in the banner at the top of the chat or something?

  3. My take on this update:

The devs hearts might have been in the right place, but all of this? It’s killing the community.

There are far less public chatters now, and don’t try to explain it away by its, “split up now.” No. There’s so many people just avoiding chatting in public all together now.

Beyond that, this was far too sudden. Did the devs ever bother to ask their community? Or just a select handful they knew would agree with this update?

Why can we be silenced for asking about trading in campus now? Even with a, “grace period for warnings.” The student exchanges moves like a snail & no one will bother checking it anymore. The devs are effectively pushing trading exchanges even more off PIMD. I shouldn’t need to go anywhere else to ask about trading - but it’s easier than messing with these chats.

All of this just feels far too rushed, and honestly? Our complaints will go upon deaf ears. Ata devs have stopped listening to their community. Just money hungry who could care less about any true fun people have on here.

  4. I don’t really have an issue with the update itself, and I can understand why the change has been made. For me, the bigger issue is the communication around it, or the lack of it.

I appreciate this may have been discussed with long-standing players and that a decision was made, but given the scale of the change, it probably would have helped to have some sort of notice period pre update. Even just a couple of weeks or a month of “this is what we’re planning to do and why” would have made a big difference.

If it was just a simple name change with the chats staying the same, I don’t think many people would have minded. But changing the whole chat system while the app was live meant people were in the pub one minute and orientation the next, which understandably felt a bit messy.

I think that’s why it has come across poorly. It makes things look less professional than they probably are, and from what I’ve seen, it has only led to more frustration towards ATA and more pressure on the mods, who now seem to be dealing with a lot of the backlash.

So, tldr, I don’t think the update is bad. It actually seems like a good change overall. I just think the way it was rolled out could have been handled a lot better.

  5. I agree . I just think they attempt to do this but did not give “a specific date on when it will roll out/ be released in batch or whatsoever and that may also come across as “poorly handled”. If they were to give prior notice like the changes on the old party drops and which they added a specific date than maybe it comes across better

  6. PiMD avatars can be quite sexy, isn’t that a contradiction?
While it’s an understandable question, we don’t feel that it is. We are advocates of the “Cosplay Is Not Consent” fan convention movement:

“Cosplay is Not Consent” is a crucial movement and policy widely adopted within the convention community, emphasizing that wearing a costume—no matter how revealing, detailed, or suggestive—is never an invitation for unwanted physical contact, photography, or sexual harassment.

Sexy avis does not mean public chat is an explicit/adult-content space.

... a lot of the avis are far beyond just sexy. They move into being completely naked except for a strategically placed towel or object or even tiny skimpy transparent "clothes" that wouldn't even function as underwear... yes, cosplay is not consent. But in keeping with the new look of pimd, the approach to the avis should be revised as well. Avis can be gorgeous without being almost naked.

  7. Honestly student union shouldnt allow any kind of chat unless its the purple club post for parties which currently seems to be broken.

  8. After a few days of seeing how this goes, I agree with everyone saying rp and looking for friends should go in campus. Student Union makes more sense to keep things strictly club/gameplay related....like lbh post, club recruitment, flash banners.

Would also really like for the purple club ads to be fixed soon.

  9. I totally agree union should be only club related. But I kinda really like the idea of them just having their own arpee corner that everyone else can just unfollow rather than throwing them back into campus cus tbh

But I kinda really like the idea of them just having their own arpee corner that everyone else can just unfollow rather than throwing them back into campus cus tbh I don't really wanna see them there either. And I feel like we should all have the option to opt out of rp clutter altogether lol
