5th Annual Drawtober Art Challenge Our intent is to inspire creativity and to allow artists, both experienced and not, the opportunity to challenge themselves. This means that sketches, and rough drafts of projects are totally fine! In this challenge, judging will be based on how you decide to interpret the theme, rather than skill or overall product. In celebration of this being the 5th year of Drawtober, we’re going back to the beginnings of the contest but making the prizes a lot better! There will be 3 different themes to tackle this year. Themes 1 and 2 will have a duration of 1 week each, followed by Theme 3 that will last for 2 weeks. Rules Spoiler ✩ All types and forms of art are acceptable! Here’s an example of my interpretation on this theme: Spoiler I was really inspired by the idea of some Ancient Greek mythology, and wanted to play with a limited color palette and a singular brush only! So…if you enter ANY theme this year, you’ll be entered for a chance to win a modcrate! But, multiple themes will not result in more entries. In total as the main prizes of the challenge, there will be 10 winners and the crates will be raffled off. This year we’ve also invited some of our fellow mods to take part in the contest and pick their favorite entry! Each winner for these will receive a mod crate each too!! This is so beautiful! I can’t wait to see what the entries are and I better start looking into ideas for my own entry! 🏃🏻♀️
https://imgur.com/gallery/556yTri I hope this works.. been a long time since I last did something like this, so.. This is my entry for the first prompt for Drawtober: Immortal The Turritopsis Nutricula is nicknamed The Immortal Jellyfish because it can completely restart its life cycle to save itself from starvation, unsuitable water temperature, or even death. It reverts itself back into the first stage of its life cycle and repeats the process over and over again, essentially being biologically Immortal. I did a lot of research on the phenomenon back in high school, and this prompt made me think of it immediately.
One day, Paul wandered the timeless streets of Athens, Greece, only to stumbled upon an altar inscribed with "The UNKNOWN GOD." He was struck by the absence of a grand statue; this divine presence remained a mystery, unseen and unfathomable. Inspired, I took my synthetic brush and poured my soul onto the canvas, painting it a luminous white with delicate watercolors. With reverence, I inscribed "THE INVISIBLE GOD," embodying the essence of immortality that lies beyond sight but resonates within our longing hearts. 🎶Steven Green - Immortal, Invisible🎶
For me immortality is both a curse and a blessing. A blessing as you get to experience so many things in life but also a curse a you watch the world changes and the ones you care about fade. Spoiler
Created this artwork as a parting gift for my colleague, capturing her iconic look from when we first met and work together 3 years ago—bright pink hair, cat-eye eyeliner, iced coffee, Crocs, and a book. For me, keeping someone in your memory is a way of giving them a life beyond time, where they continue to live on in your heart. Here are the rough sketches:
Immortality is like a bottomless sea that drags you down deeper and deeper, with nowhere to go. Like an endless loop that swallows your own humanity as you witness every change in life. Progress. <3
Tbh I only draw very casually so I'm not very good at it but it seemed fun to join in so here's me interpretation of Immortality:
The image evokes a haunting atmosphere of isolation and moral decay. In the center, a lone figure stands at the intersection of an empty street, framed by shadowy, abandoned buildings. The sky above is consumed by ominous red and black swirls, resembling a distant fire or a crack in reality, perhaps representing moral destruction. The figure’s solitude in this bleak environment could symbolize the human condition when detached from ethical principles, wandering aimlessly in a world devoid of compassion or justice. The towering, featureless buildings on either side represent society, now cold and indifferent, as it turns a blind eye to the disintegration of virtue. The sky—blazing with red—can be seen as a metaphor for the consequences of moral corruption, a landscape of ruin that awaits those who forsake their ethical compass. In this setting, immorality manifests in the form of alienation, emptiness, and impending destruction, leaving humanity adrift in a broken world.
༆ The Curse in Disguise ༆ Immortality is a 'Curse' in disguise of a 'Blessing' Living a thousand years and more Watching other's Death yet you cannot Die yourself is a suffering Seeing Countless wars where no one wins Losing others and the only thing you could do is...watching their lifeless body deteriorate This is drawn by me and here's some layers proof (I tried using PS today, usually I use ProCreate 🧍♀️) Okay Byeee, thanks for listening to my tatertots! Be back when the next theme comes out ( ˘ ³˘)~
