5-8c is way too much for a painter’s box, and frankly at 10c you’re being cheated. You can easily get them at 2-4c if you’re savvy, and I’ve personally never paid more than 2c for a painter’s box. Orbs shouldn’t cost more than 3:1c, and occasionally you can get a better deal. You’re right in that color doesn’t affect value, and you can easily trade for different colors since they’re all roughly in equal demand.
Having issues combining? Try doing one of these things. Sometimes it takes a few tries to combine.
