Can someone explain the failed logic of tradin 1b for less than what's required to make it and also w/o compensatin for the difference by addin an item to the deal?
I explain this in my guide to classical spinner sets https://forum.partyinmydorm.com/thr...-history-and-price-guide.143169/#post-5136239 All sets without exception are worth less than the parts/components required to make them. This is completely normal and logical for ALL sets and bentos aren't an exception. The most remarkable thing about them is actually how closely the sum of their parts matches the cost of the complete set, and that is due to their constant supply from the spinner.
If that's the case then y does it cost 40 chibis to make a bento if it's only worth 37 to 38 on the market it doesnt make economical sense to have ur highest in game currency to be worth less after its produced. That would be no different for u to go ask a cashier for change for $40 and they hand u $37 or $38 nexus the money u gave them depreciated the second u handed them the money.
Your dollars don't automatically combine into $100 bills when they are in the same place, dollars bills cease to exist and then have to be replaced. Chibis are not just 1/40th of a bento. They are individual and different items that are actually rarer (comparatively) than bentos and have their own value. It isn't profitable to combine them into bentos currently. You lose ~2c worth of value when you do that because bentos are more common than chibis. If you could literally break a bento into chibis. If that process was possible, we wouldn't have to wait for people to spin the chibis to bring them back up to a similar supply than bentos. People would be breaking their bentos all day because each time they do that, they effectively gain 2c in value. Until the day they become even again, and then if things change, they'll adjust it back to even. but the reality on this game isn't that. We gotta wait for chibis to be spun and that is way slower than just making some bentos by accident... and the longer we wait, the further their values will probably drift.
And the contradiction still stands that due to the "rarity" of acquirin a chibi should thus increase the value of a bento rather than lower it. Also I dont believe it to be commonplace for ppl to have more bentos than chibis, it's not as if u can get one from the spinner not addin the fact that only a certain combo of chibis make a specific bento. If there is a case where ppl have a lot of bentos it is from havin dropped either a cat for sale.
Another thing if chibis and their respective bentos r worth so much y r the harder to acquire peps and their bento seemingly worth almost nothin in game?
Or havin acquired chibis as payment for droppin in a club. The fact of the matter is the time and effort it takes to make a bento would suggest equivalent exchange for said time and effort.
When things are accepted as currency, weird things happen to their value. Sure there may not be as many chibis as bentos but how many people do you see with 40c for eveey 1o they have? Or more than that. The rarity is congruently related, not exactly the same. For years people thought the way you did, that they should be worth 40c but the reality was that bentos were getting more common, and chibis rarer, and it is a belief that it should be like money in the way you described that keeps the conversion rate as close as it is. The value of things used as currency is also inflated for its convenience: the ability to trade it for almost anything. Bentos became a currency on pimd. They weren't always it! People used to actually trade basically anything for what they wanted and bentos were just another item that could be traded for. But now you see the high demand for them. Some people regard them as the only way to get what they want. They don't do direct trades.
The rarity of chibis does not necessarily drive the value of bentos. It is mostly illogical that they would since they are independent items that could and do vary greatly in supply, demand, etc. What keeps them close is peoples' belief that they should be simply convertible. It's a false belief grounded in the real world, not the game itself.
I have no idea why pep bentos and chibis are worth less. I believe it was due to a misinformation campaign that occurred about 2 years ago but the fact that they haven't risen in value is due to them being divorced from the concept of being a currency for so long that it is hard to convince people to accept them. To fix that, people have to start buying them up at prices they can afford, go too high and they'll run out of resources before they do anything to the market. Scrape the bottom of the barrel and the market might move with them and they can turn some profit and continue converting and appreciating their value. But without many people putting in the time and effort, it's very slow progress when it's easier to go with the flow and just use the accepted currency.
The truth of the matter is bentos and chibis are an illogical form of currency and the only reason it's used is that people decided to use it. They're common. Very common. And it makes no sense that a stat item worth in game as 25 times more would be considered it's equal especially considering hunt stat items are limited editions and require much more effort than spinning a wheel. The whole system is massively flawed but as long as people continue to treat chibis and bentos the way they do you just have to accept it.
That is weird, I think I was on break from pimd when the pep misinformation happened but I was taught pep chibis were rarer and therefore the blue bento should've been valued higher than the other ones, long long ago😵
