Personally, I don’t believe that if someone is rich and they cloth themselves in high fashion or even just spend a lot of their money for seemingly pointless things makes them shallow, but rather an enjoyable “hobby.” If it makes them feel satisfied, then so be it, it’s their money afterall. And besides, there is not point in making money when you’re not going to spend it on things you want. If I had the amount of money like the next millionaire had, then I’d definitely buy something ridiculous as a glow in the dark couch. But I what I meant was that in the future clothes as extravagant as I pictured would be the norm, more so than they are now. Like, if you were walking on the street and you saw some random lady wear a peacock headpiece you’d definitely find it weird, right?
Lol... of course I do. But I meant people who are filthy rich. If you have millions upon millions upon millions of dollars, what are you gonna do with it...? I would like to treat myself, would you not?
That’s great, I would too. Spending all of your money on pointless things isn’t a good idea, yes, everyone knows that, lol. But again, wanting to treat yourself with YOUR money isn’t always “shallow” or whatever name you throw at it
I never said shallowness was bad. I do believe ppl who spend too much time on their appearance are shallow though. I also think people with millions upon millions of dollars are repulsive and don't deserve it 👌
How are they repulsive, though...? While I may not be a millionaire myself, I have a certain respect for those who are because they worked hard for it and therefore deserve every ounce of it. Doctors are millionaires, are they repulsive, too?
They didn't "earn it," many people work harder than millionaires, it's just the flaws of capitalism. There's nothing wrong w the profession of being a doctor, there is something wrong w how much they're paid. Many people go into the profession solely for money and have little interest in helping others which is also bad imo, there are a lot of bad doctors and nurses because of it.
I wholeheartedly disagree. There is nothing wrong with how doctors or anyone in the medical profession are paid. Their job is to help people. They obtained heaps amounts of knowledge of the medical field through hard work and dedication. Not anyone can be a doctor, that’s why there are so few and are paid most. And there is nothing wrong with people who go into the profession for the money because at the end of the day, they are still doing what they need to do in order to achieve their heavenly paycheck as well as help and treat those who need it. While in some instances millionaires, billionaires and even trillionaires may have earned their money through ways not morally correct, and I acknowledge its wrongfulness, but they still earned it. Many others have earned it in morally correct ways too. You can’t tell someone how they can spend their money. Besides, the rich are needed to continue a functional economy. More often than not is their money directly focused in assets. Forcing them to give it away would result in their investments to fail. Their businesses would fail as well, which in turn would cause massive job loss. It would be devastating... And how would non-divisible property be settled? The beauty in capitalism is the ability to make yourself and those who come after you something. Without it, you wouldn’t be able to create your own company, etc...
Good for you. That’s what i would do as well! I’d also like to buy myself a koi pond, Gucci slippers and a glow in the dark couch
It’s never been more obvious that our economy is very much nonfunctional. I bet you think the 1% don’t need to pay more taxes.
How is our economy nonfunctional? And no, the 1% don’t need to pay more taxes. It’s their money, they earned it, therefore they can do whatever they want with it, AND are NOT obliged to give it to people who think they are entitled to leach off their money. Taxation is and always will be theft. I don’t like my hard-earned money being put into things I’m not directly paying for.
I'd spend my money filling my Steam account with video games, and give the password to my favorite grandkid when I'm like 70
Listen, if anyone should be making the big bucks it’s doctors. The cost alone to go to school, then malpractice insurance, I can assure you if you’re ever in crisis you’re not gonna look up at the man or woman saving your life and wish they made less money. Lol that’s just silly come on now. Nurses don’t get paid enough. Although I’m biased. Consider this, I left nursing and started working in a restaurant while I go back to school to be a higher level nurse to get a pay bump. Because what I made as a nurse, is not much different than what I make in a bar. THAT is fucked. And you can’t fault someone for looking to a career that pays higher. If someone wants to be a doctor just for the money, yea they might not be as compassionate and caring as others, but I can tell you they still had to learn all the same shit, and they still have to do their job well to keep it. Doctors are essential. And keep in mind, you’re taught in nursing school to constantly be on the lookout for doctor error. If a doctor prescribes the wrong medication or adds an extra zero to the dosage and you don’t catch that, you lose your job and a lot of times your license. I can speak as someone who’s spent time in the hospital on more than one occasion, and has a mother who’s had extensive medical issues, I want the nurse taking care of me and my family to be paid well. That sort of turned into a rant, and I’m sorry lol
