World Suicide Prevention Day 2017

  1. Are you aware that over 800,000 people commit suicide a year?
    With World suicide prevention day on the 10th of September and world suicide prevention week in the upcoming week, I'm trying to raise awareness.
    The not-for-profit organisation To Write Love On Her Arms is trying to raise money to help people in need receive the councilling and therapy they need, so if you can, go donate... every little bit helps!

    If you have any coping methods or helpful advice, please comment them. And if you want others to know that if they need to talk, you'll listen, again comment.
    Everyone needs someone.

    We need to change the stigma, it shouldn't be taboo to talk about mental health.

  4. ️While there's this 1 day and this 1 week, I also believe that people struggling should get help anytime they need. I think it's wonderful that there are people to help, people who have helped, and people who will help️

    Coping Methods/Helpful Advice:
    • Don't bottle your feelings. There's always someone to talk to or to vent to, whether it's a family member, friend, therapist, counselor, or a caring stranger
    • Be in nature/go outside, even talking a short walk helps to clear your mind and to think
    • Exercise. Good for body, good for mind; this can also help get rid of tension and frustrations
    • Pets! Almost everybody loves animals, and if you can find one, they definitely help
    • Pick up a new hobby. Finding something new in life can be fun and exciting, even if it's something small
    • Writing/journaling. Another great way to vent and get out feelings in a healthy way (especially if you can't or don't like talking to people about your thoughts, etc.)
    • Music. It can be calming, it can get you excited, it can bring back good memories, it can get you to dance. Music all around is just great
    • Toys, games, distractions. Sometimes we just need a break from the world and all its stressors
    And just some other things to keep in mind for when you're down:
    • Any amount of progress you make counts; improving your mental health doesn't have to be a one-day cure
    • Be a friend to yourself
    • Smile, even if you don't feel happy
    • Laugh a lot
    • You're worthy, and you matter️

  5. If all you've done today is get outta bed... I'm proud of you.
    Sometimes small things like that take soo much effort, always be proud of yourself for doing that one tiny thing.
