why do you love music????

  1. I was talking to my friend recently, and they said, 'why don't you like rap' (he absolutely loves rap) so we had a massive argument about why I liked music and the music I like and all that jazz...

so this forum thread is to see what all of you like about music!! Yay I hear you say....

Anyway, this is the reason I like the music I like, which is sad, reflective songs..

so, firstly, i can alway relate to the words of the songs, if there is doubt in my mind about what the song is about, then I don't like it, so any songs like strong rap, reggae, or general songs about sex or women/men, I don't like...

I do not believe that the songs I like are only about the words or the song, it is also about the timbre of the voice that is singing and whether tht voice goes with that song an those words, so, like in the song because of you, she has the best vocal voice for this piece of music.

I know I have said that I hate rap, and I do, however, there are only two rap songs I like, these are both sad/reflective songs from eminem, mockingbird and when I'm gone, these are the only rap songs I like, as eminem's voice is perfect for those songs 

Anyway, so how about you? What is the reason you listen and love music??

    question from kat ️

  2. I don't listen to or love music

  3. I'm a total music junkie. I devour large quantities of it. Its been my personal mission for at least the past decade to hear all good music that has ever been made. It's really my only passion in life.

What I'm always looking for is something different, something I haven't heard before, something unpredictable and original.

Music is all about rhythm. Without rhythm, it's just not music. Obviously great melodies and vocals are nice too.

I hardly pay attention to lyrics. If lyrics are the main reason you are listening to music, go read a poem. That being said, one of my all time favorite artists is Bob Dylan, who is widely considered the greatest lyricists of all time. When I do listen to lyrics closely, I prefer them to be ambiguous rather than direct. I want the meaning to be open to interpretation.

My advice to everyone is to expose yourself to music that is outside the box. Keep an open mind, listen to new things and you will be rewarded .

  4. Yes, we should, but I am only listen to ones I like, I tried to listen different ones, but I just can't get into it...

  5. I like music that tells a story, or is about breaking free of someone or something. So anything about inner strength or some such thing, even if it's really deep and you need to scratch down deep to get that message. I also like morbid lyrics, and songs, that would probably make a room full of fourth graders cry. Haha! As you can imagine, I don't listen to much rap.

  6. I like music bc OneRepublic

  7. I like the meaning of songs....

  8. Deadmau5, hardwell, and aviciii ftw...true music

  9. Music feeds my soul. If I was rich, I would have a room in my house full of cd's, tapes, scratchy records. When I was a kid, I was a dancer. As a teenager, I had a radio show through my high school, and played my ever-growing collection of cd's. I have boxes full of mixtapes that my friends and I would mail to eachother. I went to a gig downtown at least once a weak. On Saturday mornings, I would hang out at a local record store ( Good Records in Dallas, TX ) and chat with the amazing employees. I waited in the 12 hour traffic jams to go to the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, TX every year (drive should only take 4 hours ?). I am notorious for singing and dancing in the car btw 

But it wasn't just about being a part of the scene. Whether you're happy or sad; in love, or broken hearted...there is a song out there that can express my emotions in a way words spoken cannot. The lyrics, the timing, the melody, so many elements play together to create something wonderful that I still can't describe. And the rush you get when one of your favorite songs comes on that makes you get up and sing and dance around your living room (or want to ). And whether I am pumping myself up for a night out, or curled up in some blankets on a quiet winter night, there is a song to go with that moment. Most of the important moments, like my first kiss, I remember the song that was playing in the background. Music enriches just about every moment that I can think of ️.

  10. Oh your friend likes rap? He must have a big dick

  11. I like music because I'm a hoe. :)

  12.  There's always idiots like that-that ruin things...Anyway, I like music because it inspires me. I like music that is deep and makes me think. I like music that makes me question reality and the way things are. There is also music that I love that has no lyrics just instruments. I like all different types of music because it is therapeutic. 

  13. I also quite like instrumental music, this makes me think and affects my way of life :)

  14. I listen to music depending on my mood.
When im sad or depressed i listen to a certaing song/s
When im giddy i listen to a song/s more upbeat and new
So i use music to basically display the inner depth of my emotion so i can soar

  15. that's deep 

  16. I can relate to some songs, and when i listen to music it relaxes me or cheers me up rap is okay in my opinion but some artists just ruin their songs

  17. Country for instance has meaning behind it. It actually gets to your emotions while rap is talking about nonsense
