Wrote a little something about Brazil and the World Cup. While the whole world focusses on Rio De Janeiro, Once the cup has been won will anybody care though? Poverty is rife, favelas have been bulldozed, Violent crimes are on the up and hunger has rose, Fifa has kept it quiet, no drama's been exposed, While Neymar hits the heights, the poor experience new lows, Billions have been spent on girders and concrete, But that doesn't digest into something to eat, That doesn't do justice to the people on the street, Who've been evicted without choice with no shoes on their feet, TV sets from Norway, Kenya to Indonesia, All ignite in awe as they are engulfed in World Cup fever, But the sad truth is that outside the stadium cantilever, Starvation is real from Sao Paulo, Natal to Curitiba. Brazil has a huge population and they have so many problems with regards to violence, hunger, poverty etc. Their government have spent billions on the World Cup while disregarding the poor and in some cases bulldozing favelas (shanty towns) to make some on the cities seem more appealing to tourists/fans. Just thought I'd share.
Yeah thats y im so torn when it comes to watching the world cup. All this stuff is for the benefit of the higher classes in Brazil. When i was there, the lower classes were protesting against the world cup. But then again, its a similar situation w the Olympics and arguably the cities in which the Super Bowls take place. Not saying that makes it okay but yeah. Cant help but watch all and yet feel guilty for doing so
It's not called soccer tho. I'm just correcting your illiterate ass. Anyways, focus on the troubles of Brasil.
Bumped Vatica It doesn't make me enjoy the football any less but it's still a little sad to think that all the money spent and people's lives it effects is all for just one month of football.
