Hey guys, so I was scrolling through the stories and rps etc... and I either haven't seen or missed a thing on writing tips. So I got planning and thinking of this. I'd love for someone or possibly 2 people to help me with this, so just wall me/comment with a short paragraph saying why I should choose you. I'm now working on the first post on how to start a story.
Section 1: Getting started. From Charles Dickens to JK Rowling to the small authors that don't earn much royalties to every author, some amount of planning went into their novels. Planning doesn't have to be detailed to a t. Start off with a basic list. - What genre/s is my story going to be? - What message/moral/point am I trying to convey? - How original is my idea? - Am I serious about this story? - Who is my target audience? Going in depth: - Do you want to write a saucy romance story? Or maybe you want to keep your reads begging for more in suspenseful mystery thriller? Or perhaps you want to educate and enlighten us with a historical fiction? The choices are endless! - What message do you want your readers to ponder? What moral do you want our readers to consider? What point do you believe your readers should take away from your story? - Have you seen this type of story too often? What twist will you give to make it stand out? How can you captivate your readers? - Do you just want to get your ideas out? Or do you want to consider a potential career path? Or is this just a semi-serious story? - Who do you want to captivate the most? Who are you trying to reach out to? Who do you wish to connect with the most? Just consider those in depth questions. Pretty basic right? So once you have that list done, read around. Or watch movies. Read books or watch movies similar to your idea. Get inspired. Analyse the book/movie/s. See the room for improvement, take note of good ideas. Once you've read and watched and read and watched, get planning more in depth! Good luck guys!
