"Sunny! Close the goddamn door!" Chris shouts over the moans and groans and screeches of the undead trying to get to the seven pieces of fresh meat inside the local high school. The door is shut, but I haven't started on a barricade yet. Someone pushes me out of the way- Todd- and forces a table in front of the door. Chris and Kelly help place a desk and Talia pulls me away from where they're working. Talia slaps me, and stares at me with her impossibly dark black eyes. They were so out of place on her. "get your shit together, Sunny. It's not just your life." she says and turns back to help the boys while I stand and stare, my face already bruising. Marian is on the floor, rocking back and forth and crying, and I know I should comfort her, but if I speak or move I'll end up screaming. Instead, over walks our teacher, Mr. Blancinship. He rubs her back and whispers something to her. I turn away. I don't want to watch that. In a few hours, with Marian and Blancinship helping, they get a barricade up. We're in the cafeteria, so I've been in the kitchen, gathering food. Everyone but Todd and Chris sit down to rest. "find any water?" Kelly's voice is dry and weak. I walk into the kitchen and come back with a carton of milk and water. I hand him two water bottles and some milk. I put the carton on the floor and go back for food for everyone. "Todd, Chris, come eat." Kelly takes an apple and a bagel and downs them to quickly. "go slowly." Talia is back to her normal, gentle self. Petite and white, she's pure beauty. I've always wanted to look like her, and when I feel that way now, I can't help but burst out laughing. Everyone stares at me. "you've nothing for three days." Mr. Blancinship rose an eyebrow. "care to elaborate?" But I just kept laughing until I was crying and then I couldn't stop crying. Talia stands. "I tried a water fountain earlier. It worked. I'm going to go see about the showers." Marian pulls me to my feet. "we need to go at once." I wipe my eyes. "after you." I try to say, but because I haven't spoken or had any thing to drink in days it comes out dry and broken. Marian and Talia giggle and Kelly hands me some water. "you sound thirsty." he winks and sits back down next to his twin, Chris. Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. Someone is pounding on the door. Everyone freezes. Marian whimpers. Todd gets up and grabs the aluminum bat that helped us get here. He peers out the small sliver of bullet proof window and takes a few steps back. Then someone not in the school shouts, "Help! Please! Anyone!?" but the voice isn't real, it's got something monstrous under a fine layer of human. We hear it breathe heavily, before the banging resumes. "Marian, didn't you shout that when we-" "yes." she whispers and shudders. "oh my god." I say, and sit down next to Kelly. "they imitate us?" Talia's eyes went cold and she started to shout. "I am infected and I copy what you say!" until she was whispering it and crying. "I am infected and I copy what you say." it hissed and I could almost hear its fingers running against the door, blindly searching for meat. We then tried to sleep, every once in a while waking up because an infected would scream something human. Marian cried and Talia cuddled with her. Kelly held my hand and Chris watched the doors with Todd and Mr. Blancinship slept the whole goddamn night through.
I think it's a great story, but here's some advice...: Put spaces in-between paragraphs. Remember to use upper-case letters. Other wise it is fabulous!
I really don't care about double spacing my paragraphs. It's fine as is. Also, I don't feel like checking, but sorry if it says it's when it needs to say its. Auto-correct.
SOPHIE DAHLIN'! I love it. It's very interesting and it lures in unsuspecting readers... I wanted to read more after I finished reading. ,_,
