Chapter One Seraphina doubled over and hurled, the remains of her super expensive squid ink pasta leaving her system like a waterfall, only to give her a burning mouth and a big pat on the back. Jeanette just stood there, watching the scenery while absentmindedly patting her on the back. They were on the hallway by their deck, Seraphina holding on to the railing for dear life and Jeanette enjoying the scenery. Phina batted away Jean's hand after regaining her composure, and stormed off to their cabin. Jean sighed and followed suit. was only a mere 10 feet from where she standing, so Jean caught up with her seasick friend easily. "I told you we shouldn't have gone on this cruise." Phina whispered hoarsely, opening the door and crawling into Cabin 154. Jean gave her a warm smile and shook her head, she was enjoying it way too much for Phina's liking. Phina rolled her eyes and slumped down onto the bed, exhausted. Suddenly a lightbulb appeared above Jean's head and she abruptly pushed Phina off the bed. "Oww...." Seraphina muttered some not so nice words under her acidic breath and glared at Jean. "What the heck was that for, dude?". Jean huffed at her tomboy best friend and told her to brush her teeth and put on a pretty dress. Phina refused immediately by shaking her head so much it looked like it was going to fall off. Jean offered her a fifty-dollar bill and after some more bribery, Phina had finally gotten up and locked herself in the bathroom, dragging a disgusting dress with her. Inside the bathroom, Phina was sighing. She hated this trip, she hated that when she boarded the luxurious cruise majority of the passengers were of the male sex, she hated everything. She didn't like to mingle, and she surely did not like to travel. She was born to be a boy, she always told herself. Maybe she ended up being a girl because of karma or whatever. She shook her head and moved on to brushing her teeth. She moved on to wear the disgusting white dress with floral patterns that took Jean so much effprt to make her bring, and scrunched up her nose after seeing the sight in the mirror. That Phina looked so girly. She tied up her hair as neatly as possible, because Jean was a girl and girls tie messy buns. She put on her converse and grabbed a blazer, then left the bathroom. Jean nodded at Phina delicately and dragged her out. Their deck was deserted, so they headed to the top of the ship; the party place. They called it the party place for one reason and reason only. You go there, you never go back sober. It was right above the first class decks, loaded up with swimming pools, jacuzzis and lounge chairs. In all honesty Phina found this weird as they were right on top of the sea, why the hell would you actually need a swimming pool and a jacuzzi? The DJs would play hot remixes and techno beats all day, aided by the HUGE speakers that broadcast everything to them. Once in a while two drunk guys would fight, or two drunk girls would catfight, there would even be strippers dancing on poles in the night. As long as you're in the party place, there's no limits. While going up the stairs to the upper decks, Phina checked her watch. It was 7.27. Three more minutes till the party started. The party would be full of people doing 'it' and drunk people. It began every night at 7.30 p.m., and end at around 4 a.m.. Phina dreaded going there, it was too much for her to handle. She sighed and made a silent prayer. Fifteen minutes into the party and no trouble yet. Phina sighed in relief and leaned back against the soft plush couch. The area was open air and people were allowed to smoke. Phina could smell the horrid stench coming out of people's mouths, she really couldn't take it. But there were guards by the entrance and exit, and you couldn't leave if you were sober. She had never even drunk before, not even a sip. Sometimes her friends would offer her a bottle, dare her to take a shot, but she politely refused and left. It sounded surprising for a tomboy like her, but that was the way her life was. Her train of thought was interrupted by a sudden clearing of a throat in front of her. She looked up to see a tall boy and unkempt chestnut hair and sparkling aqua eyes. The way that he was smiling down at her nervously made her get the impression that he wasn't drunk, and she couldn't help but to smile too. "Hey," he said over the music. For some reason, Phina fell in love with his voice. She responded with an eager wave and patted the seat beside her. He grinned and sat down. She inhaled his scent, it smelt like a meadow with fresh flowers, the smell that reminded her of her childhood. "Stuck being sober, eh?" He asked, drumming his fingers on the armrest. She nodded, trying not to embarrass myself. She rubbed her feet together shyly. "What's your name, babe?" He said after a minute of chewing on his lip. Her eyes widened as she realized what he had called her. Her chuckled merrily a sound her ears liked. She smiled and small smile and spoke up. "My name is Seraphina Walters. And you?" She bit her lip nervously, maybe he didn't like her name. She mentally hit herself for thinking that way. She was a tomboy, she couldn't fall in love with her kind. He grinned widely and replied. "Russell." She smiled and gave him a nod. "Nice to meet you, Russell." He then smiled back and gave her a friendly hug, while whispering into her ear, "We're friends now." An hour passed by and Phina couldn't have thought of a way to spend it any better. They talked about their interest and turns out, they had a lot in common. She didn't know why, but she felt like she knew him for years. "Hey Sera..." He started, it was a nickname he came up with. "Yeah?" she replied. "I have to go," He continued. "But you're sober." She reasoned, she didn't want him to leave. "I won't be for long." He said. "Be careful, okay?" "Yeah. And I'll see you tomorrow." "Where exactly?" "Outside your cabin." She nodded and fiddled with her bracelet, then suddenly she felt two hands on her face. She looked up to see Russell staring straight into her eyes, then she felt his lips on hers, for a second of two. Then he was gone. She stood there as the feeling from the kiss he gave her lingered on her lips. Was she falling for a guy? Was she doing the one thing she swore not to do? She pondered for awhile, then her thoughts drifted to getting out of the party. She would've been glad if Jean was around, but she wasn't. "Oh shit..." she muttered. Oh shit indeed, Seraphina.
