Chapter 1 (I'm posting this beginning to get a few tips on how to improve as I go on. Thanks for all the help!) "Ha! Take that, pesky imp!" said the young man, swinging a large hammer inlaid with gold and silver ornaments at the unfortunate goblin standing before him. He was tall and well built, wearing a blue tabard over his steel plated armor. His insignia, a golden lion with two heads, gave off that presence of royalty. His short, blonde hair waved a little from the wind, and his eyes danced with the flames of a warrior. After dispatching the final goblin with a quick blow to the skull, he placed his hammer on his back and walked over to a large oak tree. Tied to the tree was his horse, and near the horse was a burly older man, who had already mounted his own.
He was a dwarf, but taller than most. His bronzed beard covered the entire lower half of his face below the nose. The top of his head was completely shaved. He, too, wore a blue tabard with the lion insignia. His plate mail armor was covered with gold trim, and it glistened in the sunlight. He had a worn hammer slung across his back, much like the younger man's, but his had seen countless battles. There were marks all around it's head, and the handle had dents in it from where he would hold it. "Was that the last of them?" he asked in a tone that almost made him sound bored. "I don't want ta be out here all day, laddie." "Yes, Etzin. We can head back to the tavern now. But this time, YOU buy the pints!" the younger man replied. "Ah fine. I guess ya deserve it for all yer hard work, Avion. Ye've come a long way since ya began training with me last summer." "Thanks. But enough talk. I'm thirsty as hell."
Thanks. I've started the next one, but it's late and I have basketball in the morning. I'll try and finish it up early and post it before I go. Good night
The two headed down the dirt road through the forest, making their way to the tavern just outside of the town of Therrien. The woods were alive with the sounds of animals and creatures going about the day. Squirrels were gathering nuts and berries, deer drank from a pond, and birds sang from the treetops. As Etzin and Avion approached the building, a hooded figure suddenly appeared in front of them in a cloud of smoke. "I just hate it when you do that!" exclaimed Avion. The hooded figure laughed, then removed his hood. "Sorry, its been a while and I completely forgot," he said in a sarcastic tone. "You'll never change, eh Danny?" Avion replied. "I guess not," Dan said, giving a small hint of a smile. Danny was short, tan, and skinny. He always wore his black hooded cloak and had an array of knives hidden in places all over his clothes. His hair was short and jet black, and spiked a little bit in the front. But his most commanding feature was his eyes. They were deep brown, but one eye was bloodshot all of the time, which was due to a past accident involving a cannon and a broom, and the other was a dark blue. The blue eye had magical qualities, such as allowing Dan to teleport to places he had seen with the eye before. Nobody knew where Danny had acquired the eye, but nobody really cared to ask, either. Dan's past was full of hardships, which his friends knew he would rather not bring up.
The three entered the tavern and sat down at the bar. It wasn't filled up, but there were quite a diverse group of characters there. An elf and a troll were sitting at one table, discussing something that was apparently quite serious, as their voices raised and lowered and they waved their hands around. An orc sat in the corner and was drinking a pitcher of ale. His face was scarred heavily due to many battles. A human and another troll were arguing over a game of dice. The barman, a husky dwarf, came over to the group. "Welcome ta the Crescent Inn. What'll ye have, lads?" he asked. "Three pints of ale, my friend," replied Etzin. The barman quickly prepared the drinks and set them before the adventurers. Avion raised the glass to his lips and drank slowly. Etzin, however, downed his ale in a single gulp and ordered another. "We don't get too many warriors 'round there parts," said the barman, eyeing the group suspiciously. "What be yer business here?" "We were called to solve a goblin problem. Little bast ards were raiding the shops of the next town over," Avion answered. "Ah I heard 'bout that. Nasty little creatures, goblins are. I hope ya set them straight," he said. "Not ta worry, my friend. Avion here is a natural born goblin killer! Why, just before we arrived here, he downed three of the little buggers! He's gonna make a fine paladin some day!" Etzin said. He was obviously drunk, but nobody seemed to take notice. The bar had gone deadly silent.
Great job but heads up. Don't bypass the filter. If your going to swear or say bastard. Just say it and let it censor it out so you don't get into trouble.
Yep thanks for the help, and if you have any good pointers on how I can improve the story, don't hesitate to tell me. It's my first one and I want it to be good lol
"Did you just say... Paladin...?" the Orc said from the corner of the bar. "Hic! That I did, laddie! Best paladin in the nation, and royal son of the king, Prince Avion! Hic!" said Etzin, falling off his stool and slamming face first into the floor. "You think it's da one da masta be tellin' us about?" the troll whispered to the elf. "Obviously, you idiot! We are looking for the prince, which you'd know if you had paid any attention to the master's orders!" the elf snapped back. The group had gathered around the two paladins and Danny. Avion spoke up. "We don't want any trouble," he said, staring directly at the orc, who seemed to be the leader of the group. The orc gave an evil grin, showing his dark yellow teeth, bits of meat still hanging in between. "Well, boy, I'm sorry to inform you that that just isn't possible. We here have been sent to capture the prince of Sparc, and seeing as you're a prince AND wearing the Kingdom of Sparc insignia, we will just have to take you!" the orc said. You could just sense the presence of evil in his voice. "This is about to get ugly," Avion said worriedly. "I'd say so," agreed Danny. "Hic!" said Etzin.
Avion raised his hammer in a defensive stance. They were outnumbered. And these weren't any goblins. These were trained combatants, with actual fighting skill. Danny raised twin daggers and his magical eye scanned each enemy from head to toe. "Etzin, of all times you had to pass out n-..." Avion began, but he was unable to finish for the orc had unsheathed a giant town handed sword and was swinging it downward with tremendous force. Avion was able to deflect the blow, but still the impact it had when it struck his hammer sent him flying backward. He stood up just as the orc charged again. This time, though, he side stepped the attack and brought his hammer down hard on the orc's back. Screaming in agony, the orc fell down onto one knee. This allowed Avion to steal a quick glance at Dan, who was at the time fighting off the elf and the human. It was a battle of speed and cunning, and Dan was more than holding his own. Avion couldn't believe that his friend, who no more than a year ago could not even handle a sword, was doing so well in combat. However, he had little time for praise as the orc recovered and spun around, slamming the flat of his blade into Avion's chest. "You got lucky with that one, human. But it'll be the last try you ever get!" bellowed the orc.
I haven't decided how I'm going to incorporate you yet. But keep reading and eventually you'll be in there
