I sat and watched in horror at the television screen as the sun, the gigantic source of life that we all know and love, slowly began to collapse in on itself. This was insane! Hell, this was goddamn impossible! As the news report ended and the tear-ridden face of the young, female news reporter disappeared, I just sat there. My god, this was it. Life as I knew it was over. I didn't want to believe it at all. Perhaps this was a dream! It had to! Yet, I wouldn't wake up. I wanted to yell and scream and cry. This was unfair! I'm too young for death! I haven't experienced everything I had wanted to! Why did fate have to ruin my life with this tragedy?! My mind began to race, when suddenly, I felt calm. I began to remember the good times in life; all the laughs I had shared with others, all the friends I had made, and all the fun that I had had. I may be missing out on a lot of life now, but I didn't care at this point. My memories were fond ones, and that's all I cared about. I decided to walk out into the world, which grew colder and began to lack light as time progress. My good friend sat on his car in the street, just looking at the sky. I walked up to him and said, "So... How are you holding up?" He looked at me and sighed, "Fine, I guess. I eventually figured out hysterically crying won't solve anything, so I just decided to... I dunno, live a little longer." I climbed up with him and sat by his side, looking up at the sky with him, "That's understandable." "Yep." And with that, we fell silent. Speaking and remembering would only make this harder on us. I did want to have at least one last laugh with him, but knowing that'd our last laugh almost brought me to tears. The world became colder and darker as we sat and waited to die. It would all be over soon.
