  1. "I don't need you." I was all I said. And then she was gone.

    Or so I thought.

"Today's the day," I Said aloud, standing at the bottom of the stairs of the Hawthorn Insane Asylum. I walked up the stairs and into the Asylum where I was greeted by a girl with red hair, jumping into my arms.

"I missed you so much!" She sobbed into my shoulder, wrapping her legs around my waist. "Please don't make me come back here again..." she said sounding perfectly sane.

"I won't, not ever, Tess." I said, stroking her hair and holding her tight. "I'm so glad you're better now and Darker is gone. Now we can finally live life normally."

    That was two years ago.

I sat up in bed, panting, grunting, and rubbing my eight month old, big, kicking belly. "Good god, you're suck a night owl," I said to my little kicker.

    I looked at my clock:
    2:34 am

I sighed and looked over at my fiancé. Fast asleep, of course. I got up and walked downstairs to the kitchen and heated up some milk. It always seemed to help the kicking. "it's probably the warmth." I thought.

    *BEEP* went the microwave.

I got up and walked over to the microwave and retrieved my mug. When I closed the door I screamed at the reflection in the microwave door and dropped my mug, causing it to shatter and spray warm milk everywhere.

I turned around fast but got dizzy from the speed and used the counter to brace myself.

"Tess!" He shouted, running down the stairs, baseball bat in hand. He flipped on the light and saw me starring at nothing, so he ran over, grabbed me but the shoulders— forcing me to look at him—, and asked me, "What did you see, Angel?"

    "Darker..." I said.

"****it!" I shouted, kicking the refrigerator. "You were all better! That lasted for two years! Why do you have to go crazy again when you are carrying my child!" I punched the wall, putting a hole in the wall and busting my knuckles open. Tess sat down at the table and started to sob into her hands.

    "Our child..." She cried.

The sight of her crying because of me made me sick and a wave of sadness , sorrow, and regret washed over me. "I'm sorry, Love." I said sitting down right next to her, trying to rub her back but she just leaned away and said, "Don't touch me." she was obviously in pain from the baby. I could tell from her face expression.

I felt something wet hit my foot. I looked down, it was a drop of blood, followed by several others. I looked up at where the blood was coming from and pulled Tess over to Tge sink and washed off the blood.

    One strike.

    She really had seen Darker.

I ran and got a bandage from the bathroom and dried Tess's arm off with a rag to apply the bandage.

"I'm sorry I didn't believe you," I said, wrapping the bandage around her shaking arm.

I looked up. She was crying again and shaking, obviously from fear. I carried her over to the couch and sat there with her until she fell asleep then carried her back to bed.

    -—Tess

I ignored the blood pooling around my wrist. I was too upset to care. He thought I was crazy again. And now he thinks he can make it better with rubbing my back? Uh uh. No. That's not how it works.

Joe gasped and pulled me over to the sink and cleaned the cut on my wrist. Then he went and got a bandage.

    Strike one.

    This proves I wasn't crazy.

"Any second and she should be coming home with the baby." I said to my new dog, Duchess. "So I need you to be extra good."

Duchess barked happily and spun in a little circle. We were both excited to see the newest member of the family, Kyle. I had been up all night the past three days making the finishing touches on his nursery.

Let's just hope Darker doesn't decide to pay her monthly visit tonight. Tess will be so tired that I'm going to have to take care of Kyle. And I really don't want Tess to have a meltdown from lack of sleep and stress.

I got so anxious that I started pacing. Soon I heard the shut of a car door and I bolted to the door.

She looked exhausted and kept looking at Kyle to make sure he hadn't woken.

Once she got inside she put Kyle's carrier on the coffee table and flopped down on the couch. Soon she was asleep.

I sat down next to her and slowly and carefully took Kyle out of his carrier and craddled him close. He was so pale he looked porcelain and he had curly, jet black hair and he was the tiniest baby I had ever seen.

I layer down on the couch and Kyle stretched his little arms and moved his little head so his head was resting on his arms. And I laid Kyle down on my chest, held him tight so he didn't roll off, and fell asleep.
