The Gauntlet By Percyous Prologue The boy walked through the rubble, a sack hanging over his shoulder, wearing a black hoodie pulled up covering his face, jeans, black gloves and black gym shoes. He constantly pulled down his right sleeve as he walked. Glancing over his shoulder every once in a while just incase he was being followed. He walked with purpose towards a small building laying in ruins. He quickly looked around agian before hurrying down a flight of stairs and into a dimly lit room. "I want a passage to the refuge." the boy said as he stood infront of five men wearing all-black. Four of them held m16s and the last one had a Glock tucked into his belt. "Who are you?" the one with the pistol and probobly the leader of them asked the boy. "Percyous. When can we go?" the boy replied quickly and smoothly, eager to get away from the toroki. "Nightfall, and after we find out for sure youvare human." the leader replied as he pulled a hand held metal detector from a crate and walked towards the boy. The boy placed his left hand over his right arm, making sure the sleeve was down, then he stared at his feet and waited to be discovered. The leader began scanning the boy, however the detected remained silent, silent, silent, "BEEP BEEP BEEP" the metal detector suddenly cried out as it went over the boys arm. The men immediatly began to raise their weopons but were waved off by their leader. "What you got there?" the man asked as he put away the metal detector and took out his pistol and aimed it. "Nothing." the boy lied easily, but his arm was immediatly grabbed and the sleeve pulled back to reveal a shiny metal gauntlet attached to his arm. "You lied. You are a tokori spie arnt you?" the man stepped back as he said this, waiting for a response. When he got none he immediatly leveled the gun and attempted to pull the trigger. The boy quickly held up his right arm with his fingers balld into a fist. The man attempted to pull the trigger but nothing happened, "What? Jammed?!?!?!???!?!?!?!?" the man exclaimed and was immediatly shoulder to shoulder with each of the four others who had their weopons raised. Each attempted to pull their triggers. Each recieved the same result. "Jammed!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?" was their simultanious reaction. The boy then turned over his hand and opened his hand so his palm could be seen and all except him were surprised to see the leader's pistol take itself apart and hover in midair. The boy's metal covered hand motioned back towards him and was followed by the glock's ammo cartridge. The cartridge came apart as it got closer until there were only ten bullets left and they were in his palm. The boy cupped his hands, blew into them, then spread his fingers and hands as if releasing a bird. The bullets floated in midair, waiting. He quickly flicked his wrist and five of the bullets sped off into the men's heads. The rest followed his hand back to a small sack hanging in his belt. The guns dismantled themselves next to their owners and remantled themselves next to the boy. After putting them away he jumped into the black jeep that had been waiting on the other side of the room, clicked a button that opened the garage door, and sped off into the moonless night.
Angel's POV I sat with my head leaned back and my machinegun positioned over my legs, ready for a quick grab if needed. The refuge transports barely came these days, there were barely any more survivors. The refuge base was out in the countryside, far away from the main city and therefore most of the toroki. I estimated maybe three thousand people lived in the holes/bunkers built underground here. Everyone had a role here. No free loaders except babys. Even a miner like me. Of course I am sixteen, almost there. Yet they still find it ok to give me a gun and treat me like a child at the same time! Our leader is..... Ugh....... My thoughts were interupted by the feint sound of the refuge transport's jeep. I jumped up along with the other two gaurds as it rolled into the small partialy underground slope/garage that led to the house we were in that had the secret entrence to tunnel city. My arm was raised in a wave until I saw the person jumping out as soon as it rolled to a halt. He wasn't one of the transporters..... "Hello miss. I am percyous and you?" he asked immediatly sticking out his hand and watching the others out the corner of his eye. "I am wondering where the others are." I replied to him, "Dead." I had to quickly mask my shock before I could continue, "How?" "They died by this gun's bullets right after they scanned me." he replied as he pulled out the leader of that team's Glock. this was.... Hard to believe. But he couldn't have taken them out himself, and he did have the keys, so he must be legit. I quickly led him down to the basement then knocked twice on the back wall then gently taped the butt of my weopon on it. Part of the wall slid open to reveal tunnel city. "Wow," was all he could say as I led him through the tunnels, past travellers selling their finds, past people talking on the sides of the tunnel, past different people sharpening swords, spears, and knives etc. We finally arrived at the newest apartment building where I pointed to the first door on the right. "Thats yours. Key card is under your mattress." I told him, slid my all access card over the scanner, then turned to leave. "Thanks." I heard him say as I left the stone building.
"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" The boy exclaimed as he slamed his right fist into the wall. The spot where he hit crumbled and showed another wall of dirt behind it. The boy then turned and walked to his sack where he pulled out a knife and began attempting to pry the gauntlet off his arm. When the gauntlet refused to budge he gave up and tossed the knife over to a desk that sat agianst the northern wall. The boy was oblivious to the fact that there was a girl outside his door listening to him as he began having a conversation with what seemed to be himself. "Will you please shut up?" he asked quietly as he plopped down on his bed which was agianst the eastern wall. "No. They won't think I'm crazy because they won't find out." he suddenly said after a moment of silence, "Because if they did they would either kick me out or kill me. And yes, they would actually do that if they knew. It would look too much like I was a tokori spie rather than the refuge I am. Kind of like what happened with the transporters." at this he stood and walked to the dresser on the southern wall and began opening the drawers and looking through them. "Look, I won't. End of story, so get out of my head and leave me in piece!" he exclained as he brought down his left hand balled into a fist on the dresser. Hearing the thump of his hand hitting the wooden dresser the girl jumped slightly and stood still trying to hear, but by this time she could no longer hear him as he put clothes, guns and bullets into the drawers. The girl decided not to waste anymore time and ran away through the tunnels back to her own home.
Just sayin, you don't need to put "By Percyous" because we can see who wrote it Remember, just a comment. Take no offense
I put that because my brothers might write their own. If they do it'll say By percyous' little/older brother or by percyous' cousin etc
