A book I am writing haha Cover: Summary: Jennete Has animal instincts. No really every day she psychs out as she calls it. When she does she can understand the animals in her neck of the woods especially the wolf pack that is the home of the wolf that calls her his mate! She has a great life, well great for her. She has a grandmother to makes up for the parents who ditched her. A ware wolf uncle who acts in place of the father she has never known and who maybe harbors a secret for her mother, his best friend. Her high school life is not at all boring what with Matt, Dylan, Andy, and Tyler the school super star, acting as her crew. Though sometimes they push for more. Torrent, the second in her pack though drives all thought of a normal relationship with the stunning boys out of the window with his fierce promise to protect hr from everything no matter the cost. Her fellow high school boy peers can't compare to that kind of devotion, but what happens when her best friend - who's a witch- decides to turn her wolf love Torrent, human? Will they loose the bond that has kept them for 3 years or will a rival pack destroy them both. Betrayal proves to follow in the lives of humans and animals. Jennete's simple world of instinct may become more complicated than ever before.
Chapter 1: part 1 I put my head down on the forest floor and let all the tension that had been storing up inside me flow out. It was simple, amazingly so to tune into my inner animal. No, I’m not a ware wolf I don’t physically change in to an animal,though the ware wolves do sometimes stay at my place when traveling,I'm a physic animal, a animal in the head not in the body. When I let my animal like instincts take over I do things I wouldn't do in public like nuzzle , growl ,whine and fight ( sometimes play sometimes not.).I have to tune in almost every day at night so I don't loose it at school with all the drama and boys who act like wild animals. I've been training with my grandmother though to help wit that she only haves to psych once every month. Finally I was in tune. I ran on my feet, snaking through the forest surrounding house I can still realize human things and do human things but my body wont respond usually. I saw the wolves come in from all sides running with me I understood the growls 'Pack member back, get Torrent.' Torrent was my wolf mate well in his book we were mates. I was 13 and they found me psyched out in the woods trying to hunt. Normally they would drive out intruders or kill them, but not me because they thought I was human until I spoke to them. I can speak the way of all nature a little but mostly predators. That got me a visit with the alpha, Winds. He asked what I was and I told him what my grandmother had told me. He asked why my mother wasn’t the one to tell me of my gift and i explained that too. It always skips a generation so I couldn't talk to my mom about it, if she and my dad were still around. Winds considered me and said that when I was animal I would come to the cave and I would be treated as one of the pack. That was the first night I spent with the wolf that had found me, Torrent. He followed me around and at the end of the day, lay with me in the cave. My animal self didn't mind his attention he was a big brown wolf with pale yellow eyes, very big and second in the pack. Though human me thought it was kinda of weird. Things got really weird though when I was getting ready to go and another wolf, Rider tried to nuzzle me. Torrent rammed him and growled narrowing his eyes, 'Jennete is mine!' I was really shocked, well I was still psyched out so I went up to Torrent and brushed my noes to his making it official that we were mates. Now I am 16, 3 years of being with the pack and Torrent. As we entered the cave a big blonde wolf came at me I crouched and growled and recognized Winter the big wolf who loved to play with me we wrestled for a while taking small nips at each other until we were both tired. 'Jennete pack play fun Torrent want to see you.' Wolf speech just cuts to the chase and leaves out all those annoying words you trip over. As if summoned the big brown wolf came up and pressed his mussel against my shoulder. 'Jennete, mate missed you lay? Play?' Torrent always wanted to do things with me that would keep me away from other wolves. He was very territorial. 'Lay, played with Winter already.' Torrent and I made our ways to the back of the cave were I rested, my head by his front paws hid warmth clocking me. I smelled blood and rabbit leaping up I ran towards the food, Torrent close on my heals letting me be in front the pack sniffed the food and let Winds eat first. I smelled for the rabbit and licked my teeth which were aching to tear into it. Torrent brought it over to our corner and we ate. After that Winds gave the call that signaled the running of the pack was to start, I begged to run out with the pack to celebrate the rising of the moon like they always did every night. Torrent finally agreed and we joined the rest of the pack outside, they were all moving around side to side waiting to run. Winds finally howled the okay and we all took off into the night. The wind rushed as I ran, blowing my golden brown hair to the side out of my face. Torrent running beside me howling at wolves that got to close. I enjoyed the feeling of running with my my mate. The night wasn’t a bad start for my sophomore year.
Chapter 1: part 2 LILIN: I waited till Jennete was gone before approaching the wolves she was my best friend. I had to be able to turn Torrent human so they could be together some how. I saw the wolf and whistled his ears picked up and saw me. Jennete had introduced me to the pack before and they all knew my scent. As he came closer I whispered the spell; ' Let the one on fours open doors. With body of a human with wolf in the background, let Torrent and Jennete's Love be found.' Torrent whined and suddenly started to jerk back and forth until he was lying on the ground with spasms moving his body. His front paws tuned into arms and his back legs jerked back shifting into legs. His fur shrinking into his body. His snout shrunk back causing him into howl. Hie ears lowered and changed there shape this pale yellow eyes grew darker till they were forest green then brown to match his hair straight and messy. His teeth turned from sharp and pointed to a perfectly straight set of chompers. He shuddered and the change finally stopped. "What Lilian do to me?" He was still talking likes wolf only the growls turned to English and I could understand."I made it where you can be with Jennete in all times of the day and in all forms. You should be happy." Torrent looked at me and nodded."Come on I have some clothes for you. I'll cast a memory spell on you that will let you have my memories and you can go to high school with Jenny, and not flunk or anything. It'll also help you adapt to the human world more easily, like who's who and what that piece of clothing is." I laughed trying to defuse the tension. Torrent leaped up surprisingly able for the recent change. "I will see Jennete at school. I can be with her in this form?" I nodded, he was good looking but I was focusing on not looking down. I hoped Jennete would be just as happy with Torrents change as Torrent was.
Chapter 2: I entered woodland heights feeling very tired from the night before. I had barley made it to my bed before midnight to UN-psych and get enough sleep for school. I looked at my schedule and headed for Honors biology. Unlike the rest of my classes I was really good at animal systems and the way they functioned. I had Mr. Lumbard who was always nice to me and admired my knowledge on the dead animals rather than try and stump me like my old science teacher Ms. Roberts. “Why miss Jennete, how nice to see ya! I hoped ya found your summer nice.” Mr. Lumbard had a bit of a southern voice but it made him seem more real. His balding head was a speckled brown giving away his age. He always had a warm presence and was a little round in the tummy that some people nicknamed him Mr. Santa, what with his long beard that reached his chest being also speckled with white. “I had a very good summer spent a lot of time with my grandma and some with uncle Luke.” Luke was a werewolf who lived in town and always seemed to treat me like his niece. He had been good friends with my mom before she and dad left when I was three. I had just started psyching and my grandmother hadn't yet told my mother about the family secret, I took a bite out of moms leg. They had a heated discussion calling my Grandmother and making her tell them everything. I guess they weren’t ready for everything because the next day my parents were packing, at the end of the night they were gone. I still don't know where they are. Grandmother said that she still has contact and if I ever wanted to contact them to just ask her. Luke has taken care of me ever sense, well him and Grandma, she bought the house where my parents and me lived and now I lived there and when a Ware was traveling they could stay there too. “Well that's good. You need to get out more often and start hangin' out with us indoor folk.” Mr. Lumbard was always trying to get me to hang out with people my own age besides my one friend Lillian, but how do you get close to someone when you have so many secrets? I sat down in the second row lab table and who of all people sits next to me but Tyler Dall, captain of the football team! He had sandy brown hair, was tall enough that if he wanted he could rest his chin on my head. He had some bulk but his muscles were mostly lean and smooth. “Hey Jennete. How was your summer?” Why was Tyler talking to me? I was that girl who was good at sports and didn't try to be girly though I did have a girly features, as my Grandmother kept informing me when she bought clothes and complained when they didn’t fit around the chest area. She said it came from my mom. “Good yours?” Why was I talking to Tyler? He probably only asked about my summer to be nice he was a nice kinda guy. “It was awesome we had football camp and all these freshmen showed up,but only half were serious the rest were there only for the title. It was kind of funny actually. Then coach went over new plays that some of the guys thought were a little southern but I think that they can really help us win state this year sense none of the other teams will be using them or know how to block them. My favorite was-” Wow I thought tuning him out a little, that boy can really talk about football. Mr. Lumbard tapped on his desk and said that for the first month we were going to talk a lot about cells but them we were going to dive in on evolution and animal systems aka dissection. I took the notes but wasn't that focused on them because Tyler would now and then brush his knee against mine. Also when he started a new line on his notes his arm would always touch my arm! The animal in me knew what he was doing, he was making it clear to me and the others in the class that he was interested. Though human him probably thought he was only silently flirting. When the bell rang and I was getting my stuff together, Tyler went up to Mr. Lumbard and talked with him until I headed for the door. He paused in the doorway letting me go first but that only made my shoulder touch his chest. I headed down the hall toward my geometry class and say that Mrs. Beckens was teaching it. She didn't really like me because she also taut my freshmen algebra 1 class and I am not know for my math skills. “Miss Jennete how nice to see you I hope you have decided to try and take math more seriously this year. Remember though if you slouch off like you did last year I will tell your Grandmother that you will be taking counting money which does not give you your math credit now does it.” Some times it bugged me how she, the devil in a human form could possibly have landed a husband. After the horrors off math was over it was time for my favorite class, P.E. I saw Coach Lenn and gave her a wave. She was a tough teacher with the sides of her hair shaved and the rest spiked up. She had a tattoo on her back of a knife and ruler crossed. Everyone, including me thought it was wicked cool. I saw that we would be sharing the gym with the boys because their gym was under reconstruction. Lilian, my best friend in school, walked up to and gave me a big hug “Hey Jenny how was your summer see you got a tan.” Lilian was always hyper and never sat still, she was also a witch and knew about me and Torrent she was always super hyper about that. I told her about the runs and how Spring and Winds had pups. So that made Winter an Aunt, though that was a human thing. Winter just knew that the pups were her kin and she would protect them. I was about to say how Torrent had let me hunt with him when a tap on my shoulder stopped me. I turned around and there was Andy also on the football team and really a really good runner on the track. "Hey Jennete, the guys were wondering if you were going to be the photographer for the football games again this year?" I was in year book cause the photographers got to wander around school and don't have to come back to class until the end to turn in the cameras. I usually took pictures at the football games early on and in class go find somewhere to sleep. "Um sure but why would they need to know that?" Andy looked away and from what I could see kind of blushed. “Oh it's just that some of the guys liked the pictures you took. That's all” He walked away heading back to the guys were they all started to high five and laugh. Boys were just really stupid sometimes. Lilian said it was like I had animal magnetism with guys, though I didn't like anyone as much as animal me liked Torrent. Coach Lenn came up and said we were to get into a group of four two girls and two guys. Me and Lilian walked over to the side of the gym and were trying to go unnoticed and just get with the last pair of guys. Everyone knew my and Lilian were the best climber and runner, also Lilian could duck and catch while I had perfect aim when Coach Lenn decided Dodge ball was in for the P.E. meal of the day. Our plan never worked out though, 4 pairs of guys started to maker there ways towards us but Andy and Dylan got to us first. “Hey guys want to pair-” Andy started to ask but Dylan cut him off “Why do you guys always come over here? You two could pair with any of these guys." Dylan was a jerk and heartthrob, bad combo if you ask me. I looked at Lilian and she smiled at me "Oh we just want to not seem like we're picky that's all." She winked at me and giggled. We spent the time racing with the other teams and of course our team won. Earning us a pick of what we were going to do tomorrow in class. Lilian wanted to do the rope -don’t ask me I can not tell you why- but Andy,and Dylan, and I wanted to do dodge ball -better option then rope-. Dylan winked at me on the way out of the gym when my wandering gaze had fallen on him by mistake. I was walking to yearbook when Lilian stopped me. "Hey so you know how you said you like to spend time with Torrent when you psyched. Well I may have found a spell that can help you." She smiled and so I had to ask her what it was or she would be pouting the rest of the day. "What does it do lily?" She giggled some more, "It turns him human, until like you he wants to be an animal or he's under stress." I gaped at her, she couldn't be serious right. If Torrent was human he would follow me all day I would have a boyfriend we could hold hands and maybe even kiss! No I wouldn't change Torrent. He choose me as I was and I should do the same, but still we couldn't really be together only in thought and Torrent was second in the pack. He would become alpha when Winds died. He deserved a real mate one that could be in the hunts and there all day not only at night. "Lilian I will ask him if he wants to but I don't mind him being a wolf soon he will move on and then so can I to humans or ware's." Lilian looked away "Well you see I kind of already asked him, sort of well not really but hes happy about it just like I know you will be and he's going to be here tomorrow. I just need him to finish the memory spell and then he will be as smart as you and can come to woods! So I was just letting you know not asking sorry." My eyes opened wide and I shook my head. Torrent, my Torrent was a human, he was going to be coming to my school and I was going to have to see him not in my animal self. What if he didn't like the human me? What if he did and didn't want me to turn with the pack? The pack! What will the pack say now that there second is a human because of me! Oh Lilian has gotten me in some tough spots before but nothing like this. "I have to go lily." With that I walked away knowing that somewhere in Lilian's house my Torrent was asleep learning about geography.
Chapter 2: part 2 I walked in to my yearbook class and suddenly wished I hadn’t. Amanda chief of the yearbook was yelling at Sandra about her getting the names backward or something when they turned and saw me."Jen, you go and take pictures of classes and students who are wearing school colors with the teacher outside okay." Wow and I thought Amanda didn't like my pictures. She looked over my shoulder to see Nathan walk in with Henry. Nathan was an okay guy kinda tall though with oxford shirts and practically no muscle to speak of, but Henry was a full blown case of nerd. He had glasses tucked in shirt and Lego hair. His dream was to become a hard news journalist and own his own new company, he was Vice chief editor of the year book and was known for getting any information any way he could. With his ego he thought he was better then everyone else and only hung out with Nate because they had lived next to each other sense preschool. Nathan saw me and waved, he knew that I didn't really like to take pictures and would sometimes cover for me. "Nate go with Jen work like a tag team okay go go go we don't have all day people." Nate and me got through the classes pretty quick and on our last class we encountered the J.J.T. They were the popular girls in our school; Julie, dumb, pretty, and was so blonde her hair was almost white, sometimes I thought that with all the bleach she used her hair would just fall out one day into a dissolving mass of chemicals. Tiffany, nice, smartish, and should have gotten better friends in my opinion. All coming up to Janice, blonde, wavy locks that were natural (this fact surprised me because her eyebrows totally were not blonde but a deep brown that made her seem to frown all the time),and such a total mean girl that some of us (not me of course) want to throw her in the way of a bus to see if she would survive. "Oh hey Jennete here to take my picture. Your yearbook club should be happy I wore gold today maybe it will sell out this year unlike last year where like you had 30 books extra.” Ugh nothing smart or good came out of Janice's mouth. I took the picture with the J.J.T and got out of there fast, usually Ashley would be with them but she was in yearbook causing her to be a back up popular girl. She was smart and a red head and when it was just us yearbook people really witty, that girl could find a joke in everything and make a remark that was extremely insulating yet it make you smile. I didn't know how she could put up with those girls. It was 10 minutes until class was over and lunch would start so I told Nathan that I was going to catch some z's, he nodded and agreed to cover for me. I woke up to the librarian saying it was lunch time and I needed to go eat. I headed down and saw that Lilian had saved us a table. As I headed over I saw Dylan,Andy and Tyler were waving me over, I was going to ignore them when Lilian popped up right next to me and led us over. I saw that Tyler had just gotten out of football cause he had wet hair from the showers. "Hey guys, what's up?"I didn't know really what else to say. "Oh we wanted to invite you to a party this weekend. Dylan's parents are out of town and it's Saturday, Friday is the game and we need some r
