There once was a time in the past that’s called “Forgotten Era”. This was the era that people forgot about since they said that it was too sinister and unworthy of being told and studied, but I’ll tell you about it because I believe that every story has a lesson. The Forgotten Era was the time when humankind is the most careless. There used to be a kingdom floating in the clouds but it’s gone now. You see, the kingdom floating in the clouds or Sky Kingdom was built by the Intel-kind to serve as the house and protection of something that contains something bad. The Sky Kingdom was guarded by dragons that blew fire at intruders. Not only is the Sky Kingdom protected but the kingdom itself is the armor for the said threat. Humans did everything they can to open the gates of the Sky Kingdom and obtain what’s inside, but to no avail. The humans thought that what’s inside would help them rule planet Earth, but they were wrong. During the Forgotten Era, the humans were able to defeat the dragons with their new toy called “Technology” that the dragons weren’t able to fight against. The said weapon called technology was able to defeat the dragons, and open the gates of Sky Kingdom. Their leader was the one who entered first and saw the item that his ancestors tried to obtain for thousands of years. The leader knelt and bowed, “At long last! The world… IS OURS!” he said with pride and glory as he stood up and approached the item, a cube. He picked it up and raised it for his men to see and they all cheered. As he did that, the Sky Kingdom shook and started collapsing. The beautiful kingdom floating in the clouds collapsed and only the cloud remained. The humans successfully evacuated and reached land. The leader invited everyone to the “cubing ceremony” that same day and everyone gathered at the Capital. He turned the cube’s pieces until every side of the cube formed different symbols. The cube glowed and floated, a streak of light emerged from the cube then it broke in half, causing everyone to look away and shield their eyes from the light. After a while, the light died then they looked back to where the cube was but it was gone. A woman with horns and bangles stood at where the cube was. Everyone cheered; the cubing ceremony was a success! “Milady,” the leader knelt and bowed; everyone followed. The woman gave him a kind smile and motioned for him to rise and he did. He grinned from ear to ear as he bowed. “We seek your help, Milady. We are the human race. We pose no threat to others and we want peace on Earth,” he said with his head low. “What do you seek in particular, human?” the woman asked in a booming yet calm voice. “For the humans to have peace and be separated from the Intel-kinds,” The woman grinned, showing her fangs but no one saw it since their heads are bowing low, “Your wish is my command, human. What will I get in return?” she asked and the leader was a little shocked, he raised his head, “But, Milady. I thought you give a helping hand willingly without exchange?” The woman sneered, “It’s not my fault that your kind is not that smart and doesn’t know a thing about me, human. I even doubt that you know my name,” “You’re Alma, Spirit of kindness,” The leader said. “Yes, that is right, but the last bit is wrong. My name has a little… irony in it,” Alma replied as he approached the leader, “Spirit of Kindness, Alma. Quite right on the meaning but that doesn’t mean I act in accordance of my name, so… what will I get in return if I grant your wish?” she added “I will give you everything in my possession!” the leader replied in a shaky voice as Alma loomed over him. “I believe that’s not an equivalent exchange,” Alma sneered, “I want something of equal value,” The leader gulped and a bead of sweat rolled down the side of his cheeks, “B-But, Milady… I don’t possess anything that has equal value of what I am wishing for,” “That’s not true, dear. You do,” Alma said closing the distance between them, wiping the leader’s sweat, “I can replace you so I’ll be the one who will benefit from your wish,” The leader was a little confused, “I believe that’s not possible, Milady,” “Oh yes it is,” Alma’s lips curled to a cruel smile,” The leader was about to speak but was cut-off by a piercing pain that he felt in his belly, he looked down and his eyes widened. Everyone in the Capital gasped and panicked. Alma’s hands shifted to a long blade and pierced into the leader’s stomach. “Wh-Why…” the leader muttered. “I told you, dear. My name meant the complete opposite,” Alma whispered. “B… Bastard,” he managed to say and Alma pierced her hand deeper into him and he cried in pain, making Alma smile in pleasure. “Good night… stupid human,” she sneered before pulling her hand out and shifting it back. Blood gushed out from his stomach and he fell on Alma’s feet, she kicked him away and looked at the people at the Central. Everyone was too shocked to react, too shocked to escape so instead, they knelt and bowed their head really low, fearing that Alma might kill them too if they don’t praise her. “All of you here are now… are my dogs. You will now serve and praise me. Defy me, then death will pay you a visit,” Alma boomed making everyone shake in fear but they kept their head low. --- [POV] * Irvine “Irvine, the humans released Alma,” Mao, my second-in-command said as he entered my office and sat at the chair on the other side of my table, across me. “I believe that can’t be possible, Mao. The humans aren’t strong enough to fight against the dragons,” I said not looking up from the papers I’m signing and organizing. Mao showed me a picture of a cloud and I looked up at him, slightly confused, “That’s where Sky Kingdom used to stand, but it’s gone now,” he said. “That can’t be possible,” I said smirking, “You’re joking,” He looked at me with a straight face; I sensed that he’s telling the truth so I stood up and hurriedly left the room. Mao followed behind me as I burst into the Control Room and everyone there was standing and looking at the monitor, showing the clear sky with only one cloud in it, the cloud where Sky Kingdom used to be. “That can’t be,” I said and everyone turned their heads to look at me, “How were they able to do it, did anyone see?” “We saw all of it, sir,” one of them said with a blank expression, “They used… our technology. The only thing the dragons feared and the only thing that can open the Sky Kingdom’s gates.,” My eyes widened, “How were they able to obtain the technology?” I asked… no one answered. I slammed my fists on the wall and one of them stepped forward. “They… were able to steal it, sir,” a woman in the front row of the crowd started, I clenched my fists, I stormed out of the room and went to the Military’s Gym where they trained. I opened the door hurriedly and they all stopped their training and looked at me. “I have an assignment for all of you,” I said and they all cheered. “Finally!” “Time to kick human ass!” I clapped my hands to catch their attention and they quieted down, “I’m not asking you to kick human ass. I want you to kick a sorceress’ ass,” I said and their eyes widened. “They… did it?” one of them asked and I nodded. “Huh, I thought only our technology can open the gates of Sky Kingdom?” “That’s true,” I answered, “They stole it, they were able to obtain some of our technology so the humans were able to get the cube, Alma,” “Do we have a chance against her?” “You do,” “What do we need to do?” “Use ‘it’, even though you think you don’t have the power… you can do it. As long as you pronounce it properly,” As I said those words they all looked down, thinking. They saluted to me and said, “We will do everything with all our might to defeat the sorceress!” I saluted back and they smiled. I left the room as they went to prepare for battle. --- The Militaries equipped themselves with their best armor and weapons and rode their vehicles. “Are you all ready?” their commander asked. “Sir, yes sir!” Their commander smiled and motioned for all the operators to move-out. The vehicles moved forward, slowly approaching the humans’ home. There was a border between the Human and Intel territory, they made a hole on the border and they were immediately faced by Alma. Alma smirked and spoke, “You’re too late, Intel-kind. Too late,” she said and snapped their fingers and in a blink of an eye, everyone was teleported. Since the place was different, not Earth, they had difficulty breathing. They suffocated and died. Irvine and the others in the Control Room saw this happen. “Sir, what now?” one of them asked. Irvine was about to answer but the person he’s talking to suddenly disappeared. Everyone in the room gasped and one by one, they disappeared and ended up at the same place where the Military was teleported to and died like everyone else. In a span of 2 minutes, the room was empty; the only one left was Irvine. He covered his face, his legs felt wobbly so he fell to his knees, “I’m sorry… I’m so sorry...,” he cried. Tears rolled down his cheeks as he slammed his fist on the ground. He stood up, regained strength and left the room. He fixed his tie and there was no trace of weakness and sadness left in him. He saw the hole that the Military made on the border. He climbed through the hole, entering the Human territory and there he saw the humans in pain, sad and suffering slavery. In the middle of the Capital, Alma stood. She was a little shocked to see Irvine still alive then she realized something. “You’re still here. You’re a human, no?” she asked grinning from ear to ear. Irvine didn’t bother answering the question as he glared daggers at her, this made her laugh devilishly. “Silence means yes. Well, you’re trash. You won’t be that hard to throw away,” she said as she raised her hand and shifted it to a blade, the same blade she used on the human leader. She charged at him and pierced his heart. She was expecting him to cry in pain but instead he spoke, “You can’t kill your kind, Alma. Don’t forget that.” “…What?” Alma said, shocked. “You’re a…,” she pulled her hand out and backed away. “You’re a sorcerer?” she asked. He didn’t answer but instead, he started mumbling something under his breath. “Answer me!” she yelled at him but this didn’t make him stop mumbling. “Stop that this instant!” she started to panic. She tried to approach him but he got thrown away by the protective shield around him. She wasn’t able to do anything but stand there and wait for him to finish the spell. As he mumbled the last bits he motioned his hand in circular way and a portal opened, he reached inside it and pulled out a weapon, a spear. “You can’t use that on me!” Alma yelled, “You can’t!” “Yes I can, and I will. Our kind was born to protect, and bring peace and order. We were not born to destroy, kill and cause imbalance here on Earth. Those who defy our mission shall be executed. We can’t kill our own kind but with this, The Spear of Harmony, we can but it can only be used to fight evil,” Irvine said. “You can’t kill me if you can’t catch me,” Alma sneered but her fear was evident in her face. The battle between them was intense but Irvine got the upper hand. He was able to pierce Alma in the heart and she cried in pain, “Good people will always triumph,” he said before Alma turned into a cube again. “This will be the last time I’m going to imprison you, Alma,” Irvine said. The humans gathered around and cheered. Irvine smiled at them but his smiled was immediately replaced by a frown. “I’ll grant your leader’s wish. Other races like the Intel and Sorcerers will leave Earth. You will forget everything about us but I’m sure, your kind in the future will talk about us in legends or myths. We may be known as aliens or faeries in those books and would only be read for entertainment but I want you all to learn from this. Just because we’re different would mean we’re a threat. We may look different but we’re still the same as you, living. We’re all different in a good way. We’re not only different in physical appearance, we’re also different inside. We have our own differences, we’re all unique. No one’s the same, but being different is not a bad thing. We’re born different but we should never think that your race is superior to another. You all probably thought that the Intel-kind were there to pose threat on your race because they look superior but no. Their aim was to improve and once they’re done with their upgrades, they will help you but then, you started seeking Alma ‘because you misunderstood their actions,” Irvine said. It was a lengthy speech but that wasn’t all, “I’ll erase all your memories but this speech, my speech will be stuck in your mind so you’ll remember that being different is not always bad. You can be different in a good way. In other words, every single person, every race, is unique in their own way,” after saying those lines, he performed a spell that made them forget about what happened, the Forgotten Era.
Omg! That was amazing! Kinda long though, would've been better if it was broken up into paragraphs more clearly
Myuu~ Sorry! It's a one shot so it's long. Sorry if the paragraphs aren't separated properly. I copy pasted it from my MS Word, to FB then here so the spacing probably changed or something. Well, I'm glad you like it.
