I walked down the corridor, swerving past the excited teenagers that swarmed the halls. Summer vacation was in less than a week and I was already planning each day. I heard someone calling my name and I look up and saw my best friend Luke leaning against his so called "chick magnet" which was actually one of those cars that earned a good junk yarding. I jogged up to him and smiled at his stupid grin. "Summers just around the corner, can you feel it?" he cried in excitement. Just then big, fat raindrops fell from the sky. "Well, im guessing it doesn't want us to feel something." I wiped a big raindrop off my face. "oh come on Cara, there's always sunshine after the rain." Nick joked. I mocked a laugh, "you are just so full of shi-" suddenly I felt a big pain in my stomach and doubled over, gasping. It was a big pain, it felt like somebody was hacking my insides out with a dull stick. My red hair fell in my face as I collapsed on the wet cement ground and started screaming. I felt Nick grab my shoulders and saw his brown eyes full of worry as his blonde hair started dripping water. My eyes blurred with tears as I forced a grin, I had quieted down and I forced myself into a sitting position. By now a group of teenagers had formed a circle around us, drawn to the commotion. "ah, sorry everybody. My bad." I say, so embarrassed I felt my face turn red. The pain had subsided by now and I stood up. Nick propped me up as I leaned on him. The crowd started dwindling as a teacher walked through. "what the hell is going on?" she asked, her beady eyes staring at us. Nick saved me from answering, "ah- sorry miss, Cara collapsed and I was just about to bring her to the nurse. "just don't be late for 3rd period." she said and walked away, soon finding a unfortunate student that she started yelling at for reasons unknown. "we're not actual going to the nurse, are we?" I groaned as Nick started walking with me. "of coarse we are." he said. His usually grinning face and joking voice were gone. "But I'm fine!" I complained. "it was just probably something I ate." he looked at me, unconvinced. "see? I'm feeling so much bet-" the pain came back twice as worse, and it felt like my veins were on fire. I screamed, doubled over, and started coughing. With the coughs, thick droplets of blood spattered the pavement and I fell over, this time hitting my head as well. I kept hacking and the blood trickled down my face as I started crying. After one last cough that spattered Nicks face, I blacked out.
I groan as my head its something hard and i slowly open my eyes. I see people staring down at me, including my parents, Nick, and a doctor. "Where are we?" i groaned, then i tried to sit up and felt the sharp pain in my stomach and gasped. "Your in the hospital honey." mom said with teary eyes. "your Sonogram will be in 10 minutes." the doctor said, ruining my fear by being terrified. "Wha- What is that." i asked. The doctor chuckled. "dont worry, its the same things pregnant women get so we can see the baby." I relax a bit "oh, ok." Nick leaned towards me "you never told me you were pregnant!" he joked and i pushed him away, suprised by how much strength it took. Once we were at the room where all the stuff happened i got scared again. The doctor lifted my shirt and rubbed a cold jelly on it. Then he took the monitor and turned it on, next he took the weird metal thing and put it on my stomach. We all looked at the screen. "Congratulations, you are not pregnant." the doctor says, and everybody relaxed. The doctor looked around a bit and his face started getting more and more serious. Soon he turned off the machine and wiped off the jelly off my stomach. He turned to look at my parents. "I think it would be best if we could keep her for the night, just for observation." the doctor said. I was horrified. "why?" Nick asked, "I think there might be something there, im not sure yet, but just for this night." my parents looked at each other and nodded. "But, she will be safe?" Nick asked, "We'll make sure she is very safe in here." Then the lights of the hospital went out.
I hear everyone shout in suprise. "Whats going on, doctor?" my mom asked. "its probably just a power outage, we get them sometimes." the doctor says, comforting her. Suddenly the pain comes back and i hear myself screaming, more blood dripping out of my mouth. "Cara!" i hear Nick yell and he comes over, grabbing my hand. "It hurts!" i whimper, blood dribbling down my face. "give her some space!" the doctor says, pulling Nick away. I feel anger boiling inside of me and i growl, grabbing the doctors shirt. He looks as suprised as i am. "Maybe her friend should stay close to her, to comfort her." the doctor says, looking at Nick. He cautiously comes back to my side and i reluctantly let go of the doctors shirt. "Cara, its going to be alright." Nick says, stroking my face. I look at him, panting and coughing. I was so thirsty. I feel myself cough up more blood and i wipe it on my hand. Suddenly a banging sound happened On the door, like something was trying to get in. The door burst open and there stood a disgusting thing, it looked at everyone and hissed as it saw me. It started slithering towards me, fast.
I scream as the things scaly, green body slithered closer. its tongue shot out, it was forked and blue. It looked at me with beady, yellow eyes. "you are not yet awakened." it hissed. Suddenly another figured swiftly entered through the door, holding a sword. The creature looked at it, hissing madly. "an awakened one! Why have you shown yourself here?" it asked. The figure turned out to be a guy- a very hot guy at that. "I am here to protect my own." he said, and swung his sword as the creature leaped at him, slicing it in two. Its organs were spilling out and i felt Nick gag beside me. The man stepped over the mess, stepping in its yellow blood. "you must come with me." the guy said, handing me his hand. I cower away from it, scared. "She is not going anywhere with you!" Nick yelled, slamming the guys hand away. The guy looked suprised, his black eyes looking at Nick and the guy brushed back his blonde hair. "very well, protector if the unawakened one." the guy says formally and nods his head, looking back at me. "you can call me Damien." he says to me. "Cara." i automatically replied. "very well, Cara, i must show you the extent of our power" Damien says, smiling, taking off his jackets, producing two giant slits in his shirt. I see movement and suddenly two giant black wings produced. Everybody yells in fear and suprise and Damien kneels for a second and then heads for the door. "i am different, as will you. I will be there for your awakening." he says, before he dissapears.
