Yawning, the guard was about to call a shift change, when he noticed something down the road. He squinted, trying to see what it was, and realized it was a man, covered in a long cloak and hood. "Halt!" the guard said, when the man was in range. The man kept walking, silent. The guard lowered his spear, which he had lifted at the sight of the man. "Halt and identify yourself!" He said again, a little less confident. The traveller was closer, and the guard could see that he was a huge man, easily a foot taller than himself. The traveller stopped, ten feet shy of the guard, and threw back his hood to reveal a grinning man in his late forties, brown beard and long hair speckled with spots of grey. "I'm sorry if I startled you, sir, but I get a laugh out of it," The man said in a rumbling, loud voice, a twinkle in his eye and his grin widening "and I wondered if I could enter the town" The guard sighed with relief that the giant man was not a foe, and nodded, shouting through the gate for them to open it. The traveller thanked him, and went through. After a few minutes walking, the man entered a tavern, approaching the counter. "Hello there!" He said to the man behind the counter, who paused. "So, if you are the man I think you are, you finally came back," the chubby barman turned, a wide smile on his face, "the elusive and mysterious giant... Guy, was it?" Laughing, Guy gave an answer "I can't believe you remembered my name. It's such a hard one, don't you think, Ted?" Ted, as his name was, laughed with him, his potbelly shaking as he reached under the counter and slapped a large mug on the counter and filled it up with his finest beer. "On the house, for an old friend!" Guy smiled, thanking him, and drank a good half of it in one go. Over at a nearby table, there were some rowdy farmers, big lumbering men who had come in for a drink after a long day, and they were harrowing a barmaid. "Hey beautiful, my wife wouldn't mind if it was you I bedded tonight... Hell, being the bitch she is she wouldn't care at all!" The largest one said, grinning a drunken grin, many empty glasses in front of him. He reached out and gave her a slap on the butt, in which she squealed and slapped him, stalking away. The farmer growled and stood up, making to follow her, but was suddenly blocked by a large person. Guy stood there and smiled at him, but it did not reach his eyes. "Calm down, sir, just sit and take a drink-" he began, but then the farmer exploded at him. "Who do you think you are, butting in on my business?!" he shouted, raising his ham sized fists towards Guys, too drunk to see the way he was positioned, ready for battle, "Move before I make you!" Guy stood his ground, and the man let out a terrible yell and swung his arm, then stopped with disbelief as he saw it thump harmlessly onto Guy's chest. "Well now," Guy said with a devilish grin, "I guess it's my turn" he brought his fist up and into the mans stomach, making him double over in pain, then took him and flung him bodily at his friends, who stood to help. They all fell over, and scrambling up, the other two grabbed the big one and fled, dragging him out the door. Guy turned and sat down, going back to his drink, smiling gleefully. I hope this story is okay... It was a spur of the moment idea, that why his name is Guy... I still hope everyone likes it. Please no negative comments, I know my writing is terrible
