The cactus sighed, walking across the scorching sand. He had been walking for ten days strait, give or take a few hours running. He wondered how far away from the Center Sanctuary he was. He tripped, and stopped, looking up into the cloudless sky. "What a horrible week" the cactus said, "I need some water..." he firmly pushed his feet into the sand, taking in the trace amounts of water and sighing in relief. After a few minutes, the cactus took his feet out and kept walking north, hoping that he would arrive soon. He needed the help to take back what he had lost. Suddenly, he heard grunting behind him. He spun, and saw a mutant cactus, hunched up, disfigured face and snarling, loping towards him. The cactus grimaced, and punched his arm in the direction of the mutant, shooting his spines and impaling it, stopping it dead in its tracks. "I had hoped I already killed the last one" he said, frowning with his black circular mouth. The cactus spun on his feet and resumed his journey under the beating sun.
I like it. It sort of comical, considering what the character is, but at least this isn't another boring stereotypical love story. Bump!

After a few more hours of walking, and after a little more water and steep dunes that are hard to see, the cactus saw in the distance a large wall. He sighed in relief. "The Centre Sanctuary, thank goodness" the plant man said, walking faster. But with the shuffling on his feet through the sand he didn't hear the soft grunting and snorting from behind him. The cactus was smiling, but you couldn't really tell with his face, black oval indents for eyes and a small black indent for his mouth. He approached the door, and was curious to see a large fir tree man striding towards him, at least twice the size of the cactus man. His dark green needles were bristled out in his arms, and his long wood legs strode quickly through the desert sand. "Behind me, quick" he said in a low voice, deep and slow, "you are being followed" almost immediately after this was said, ten mutant cacti charged over the previous dune, snarling and howling with rage, their disfigured forms moving quickly. The Fir snorted, and swung his arm, easily knocking away two and kicking in the chest of a third "Go to the Sanctuary, I'll be there soon" he said to the first Cactus, who was smashing in the face of a mutant who got around the Fir. The cactus nodded and hurriedly walked towards the gate, rushing inside. "good, now that that is taken care of.." the Fir said, turning to face the remaining seven mutants left. "this shouldn't take long"
