The Academy

Everything had been awesome. Since I turned 16 life had been a party. I got my first car, my drivers license, and a huge confidence boost. Me Emily, Sophie and Leliah had but that car to good use too. Almost every night I would sneak out when my parents fell asleep and would go to some huge party, but tonight was special. Tonight was Amber Shelly's huge Christmas Blowout party, and anybody who was anybody was going.
I quickly changed into a little blue dress with matching pumps, my makeup was already done so I opened my window and climbed down the vines by it. I dashed to my car before quickly and got in. My car was a Prius so it made almost no noise as I drove to Emily's house. She was waiting behind a tree where her parents couldn't see her, with her blond hair and white dress she stuck out like a sore thumb. She hopped in as I drove off.
"Took you long enough." She said as I drove to Leliah's.
"What are you talking about? I'm early!!!"
"Late!"
"Early!"
"Late!"
This continued until we got to Leliah's. Leliah was walking out the front door as I pulled up.
"Seriously Charlie, why are you so early?" She said as she was getting in.
"Ha!" I exclaimed, turning to Emily."I told you I was early!"
"No Leliah's just late too!"
We argued as we drove up to Sophie on the curb. Sophie never wanted to be picked up at her house, in fact she made a point to never tell us where exactly she lived.
"Charlie," She said in an exasperated tone,"Why the hell are you always late?"
Emily made victory noises as I grimaced in annoyance. Sophie always knew how to push anybody's buttons. Emily continued to do her 'I told you so' dance all the way to Ambers.
Finally we came to her giant house, really more of a mansion then a house, and got out of the car.
"Come on guys, we've got an entire party waiting."

The four of us headed to the house we were greeted at the door by Amber. Her blond hair was sort of a messy-pretty and her lime green minidress made her emerald eyes pop.
"OMG guys I'm so glad you made it!" She said as she ushered in people.
"How could we not?" Emily replied, "Everybody's coming!"
Amber laughed as we disappeared into the crowd. Leliah went off to find her boyfriend Trevor, Emily danced her way to the center of the dance floor, and Sophie just disappeared, probably to find the beer. Soon I was alone by some snacks. Suddenly some random dude crashed into me.
"Holy ****!" He exclaimed as we fell.
"What the hell?" I yelled as I got up.
Then I got a good look at him. He had brown hair that flipped to the side and tan skin. He was fit and it looked like he worked out. As I stood there staring he actually spoke.
"Hey I'm sorry about that." He said, "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." I said, finally regaining vocal ability.
"Hey I'm Tony."
"Charlie."
"Winning."
We both laughed.
"So Charlie," He said, "How bout a drink?"
"Sure" I said as he lead me through the crowd.

The rest of the night was a alcohol induced blur. I have almost no memories of it whatsoever. All I can remember is lots of dancing, alcohol, and boys. But I woke up the next morning with a splitting hangover and a missing shoe. Emily shook me as I groaned.
"Em where am I?"
"You're at Amber's house."
"What happened last night?"
"You got totally hammered."
"No duh Em, what time is it?"
"7 I think."
I jumped up, my parents always woke up at 7:30 no matter what day it is.
"Quick Em we have to go find Sophie and Leliah!" I yelled as I ran around looking for my other shoe.
"Charlie it's up there." She said pointing to the chandelier.
"How'd it get up there?"
"Beats me."
We got it down as fast as we could and started to look for Leliah and Sophie. We found Leliah next Trevor behind the pool, and Sophie passed out under a table. After all of us actually knew where we were we ran to the car. Emily ended up driving my Prius because I was way to hungover as were Leliah and Sophie. She stopped by Leliah's house and the corner with the bench for Sophie. Emily then dropped me off at my house and parked the car.
"Hey listen Em," I said as we got out, "I'm really sorry that you have to walk home."
"Hey it's no problem," She said nonchalantly, "I only live a couple blocks away."
We said our goodbyes and I ran to the vines by my window. I quietly climbed up and looked at my clock. 7:26, I was gonna make it!
"Well look who finally decided to show up."
Oh crap.

"Charlotte Anne Richards!" My mother yelled, "Where in Earth were you?"
"I wasn't anywhere Mom, I swear!"
"Then how come your car was gone last night?"
Silence, she had me. Mom smiled her evil smile, the smile she got when she knew she won.
"So I'm going to ask one more time, where were you?"
Suddenly my twin brother Karl burst in. Karl was a total nerd, and a mommas boy, so obviously he didn't go to the party.
"I know where she went!" He said pointing his finger, "She went to Amber Shelly's Christmas party!"
"Amber Shelly!" My mom all but exploded, "You know perfectly well that Amber Shelly is the worst of the worst! Of all the places! I would have been happier if you went to jail!"
She continued saying stuff like that for a while.
"And I hope for your sake you didn't even LOOK at a boy!"
Crap, again. I completely forgot about Tony. I don't even know what happened last night. As I sat there being yelled at my phone started to buzz.
"That better not be a boy!" My mom yelled as I looked at the text.
'i had fun last nite-tony'
Uh-Oh.
My mom snatched my iPhone away before I could delete the message.
"TONY!" She screeched, "Who the heck is Tony?"
Before I could say anything she continued.
"That's it! I'm calling Emily and Leliah's families!"
She continued shouting as she went out the door and stormed downstairs.
"Rat." I said as Karl stood there smiling.
"Sneak." He said as he walked off to play WoW.
Now everybody was gonna get in trouble, all because of me.

I sat in my room for what seemed like hours, actually I was in there for hours, until finally my parents walked in.
"Charlotte Ann we need to talk."
I hated it when he called me that,M but no matter what I said he wouldn't stop.
"What you did was reckless and stupid, and I don't think its the first time either."
Mom just stood there. I smiled to myself, no doubt it was killing her to keep her mouth shut this long. Finally she couldn't keep it in anymore.
"Charlie, we're sending you to Lady Fierce's Boarding School."

I stared at them in horror.
"You have GOT to be kidding."
My Dad sat down next to me.
"Sorry kiddo, it's no joke. You're going to boarding school wether you like it or not."
Then he and my Mom just got up and walked away. I couldn't believe it. It was like somebody had dropped a load of cement on top of me. I had to talk to somebody, and I knew exactly who.
"Hey Em... yeah I got caught to... listen, get the others and meet me at DeeJays in 10 minutes."

Soon the four of us were gathered at a table.
"I can't believe it," Leliah said drinking her Chai, "your Mom called Granny about the party."
"Yeah," Emily chimed in, "she called Ruby too, guess who's on babysitting duty for the next two months."
"Wait that's why we're here?" Sophie said confused, "I thought we were just gonna get some coffee."
"I'm afraid it's more serious," I said staring at my coca, "my parents are sending me to boarding school!"
"No kidding, so's Granny." Leliah said looking shocked.
"But why?" Emily said confused.
"I'll tell you why," Sophie said, with that look on her face that she gets when she's gonna say something weird, "The government is gonna try and corrupt their minds and brainwash them, but don't tell anybody I said that, the cameras are everywhere."
And on that odd note Sophie ran out the door and towards the park.
"Well that was weird." I said watching her go.
"Come on Charlie focus!" Emily said, "We need to thing of a way to get you guys out of boarding school."
"Sorry Emily but my parents weren't budging, they're sending me to boarding school no matter what."
"Yeah, and you know Granny. Once she decides something theres no changing her mind."
"Well what am I gonna do?" Emily said on the brink of tears, "My best friend is going off to boarding school with my other best friend while I'm stuck here on diaper duty."
"Well at least you'll have Sophie." I said.
Just then Sophie ran past the café, screaming about government conspiracies, and that's when my phone rang.

I answered my phone.
"Hello?"
"Charlie you better get your butt over here, Moms getting pissed!"
"Karl?"
"No it's the tooth fairy, of course it's me!"
"Fine, tell her I went to get some..."
"Some what?"
"Milk"
"Milk?"
"Milk."
"And I'm lying for you why?"
"Because I've got five bucks"
"Fine bye"
"Later"
I hung up and turned to Leliah and the still sniffling Emily.
"Sorry guys but I need to get some milk and then go home."
Emily looked up.
"Milk?"
"Milk."
"Well bye then."
"Cya"
As I walked outside I saw Sophie talking to some guy about the aliens in the government.

Fifteen minutes later I was home.
"You have the milk?"
I turned to see my Mom standing in the doorway.
"Yeah."
"Thanks."
She took the milk and walked inside. As soon as she was out of sight I gave Karl five bucks.
"And next time it's gonna be more." He whispered as he walked in. I trudged in after him.

In my room I opened my laptop and logged on to FaceSpace. I looked in news to see that I had a friend request from Tony. Accept. Then I updated my status. 'miserable, even the THOUGHT of boarding school makes me wanna hurl'.
