  1. Im prepping ideas for stuff for a house warming party.

Will be my 1st ever house and a house im buying which is massive in my family coz its not common for us.

Need some kinda food but dont know what.
If i manage to secure the house im looking at trying to get, its in the middle of the bush. The closest town is a 50min drive away so take out isnt really a option. Will need to be stuff i can make myself thats easy to make and easy to eat. I have 1 idea on what i wanna make for a meal kinda thing. But wanting more possible ideas for meal food but also snacky food.

I dont wanna do a bbq thing coz it would virtually never get used again so dont wanna waste money on one

  2. I chose to keep living with my dad to have a better chance at being able to save up to buy a house. And now paying a mortgage is cheaper - equivalent to paying weekly rent price wise. And buying a house means those weekly payments eventually stop. But with rent it carries on until you die.

Ive never even done flatting before. This party is going to be a way to celebrate something so many people kept saying was impossible, something that will be the biggest achievement of my life, as well as a signal to my brain that life has changed and now i get to be out on my own doing my own thing without having to worry about other people getting in the way of my routines ect. And im excited for it. So dont want it to be a shit day want things to go good

  3. I’d say pasta, chicken and spring rolls to start with 😩 There are a lot of one-pot or easy recipes out there like cordon bleu or alfredo pasta mayhaps? Mashed potatoes and a salad as a side? Or if you want the snacky route, I’m thinking DIY taco bar, that would be nice 😂

  4. Dont know how many will be able to actually come. But im gonna be inviting about 30 people. Stuff that can last ok for a few days as leftovers if theres any is probly a good idea to

  5. A potluck is always a good idea if there's going to be lots of guests, its a good way to not become over-encumbered when hosting & at least everyone will have at least one dish there they'll enjoy.

Don't forget to ask about allergies / food preferences when choosing your menu.

Snacks plus meal is usually a good way to go. Fruit/veggie trays, chips/crackers, meat & cheese slices. Coffee/soda/tea/water options. Wine & beer if you'd like to to be an alcoholic event that isn't a rager of a party.

For the main course salad & buns/rolls to go with dinner. If you're doing all the cooking one main dish with sides is probably the way to go. Chicken/turkey/ham are well sized for hosting and have lots of recipes online. I'm a big fan of mashed potatoes and sautéed veggies with dinner but are also fairly easy sides. Making gravy with the juices from the meat you cooked up >>> pagacked gravy every time.

You could also opt for a slow cooker recipie if you'd like something that requires a little less looking after.

Don't forget to stop by your local dollar store for paper plates/napkins/cutlery/cups if you don't want to have a lot of dishes to do.

  6. Paper plates and plastic cutlery is 100% happening lol. But (if i get this house i want) im going to actually advise against drinking at all unless they are planning to stay the night. Being in the bush the road is sketchy. My 1st visit to the area tort me cars can still go sideways on corners even as slow as 16km/h. Its very tight and windy. And theres no phone signal. If they crash they gotta walk up to 10km to get signal to call for help. Ultimately its their choice if they drink or not. They are all adults and older then me. But they bringing their own if its what they wanna drink. I wont be providing anything other then water and maybe a couple fizz options drink wise.

Definitely want mostly snack stuff to make it easier as most likely some will probly leave after a couple hrs or whatever. Idk. Ive never done a party before. Its why im looking for ideas help lol. All of this is a suprize. Literally none of them even know im looking at houses. I want it to be a suprize
