School is officially out for summer break here, and my apartment complex has been rife with the shrieks of children. They don't usually bother me too much; I just ignore them, but today I got a soccer ball to the face walking into my apartment, reminding me how much I dislike the little devils. -.- Children being out of school is definitely what I dislike most about summer. I feel as though if I dared to ever have any, this would not change. Is there anything you dislike about summer?
I dislike the children being free too. They are awful, although I, like C. A. Lewis, recognize that this dislike of children is a flaw in my personality.
The sun, the heat, allergies, the flock of tourists that come to my city, people outside smiling and laughing... The beach, sand specifically. But yay no school zones.
Aw, don’t be too hard to hard on the kids. It’s usually not their fault if they’re being too rowdy. Moving on though, I definitely dislike the heat the most. I prefer winter because you can always add layers, but in the summer, once you’re stripped down.. that’s about as cool as you can get!
A rowdy child, like any defective child, is the fault of the parents. However, that does not mean we should not hold them to civilized standards.
Well of course, but children playing and accidents happening is usually not their intention, especially when they’re toddlers to pre/early teens. As annoying as they can be, I quite enjoy seeing kids out and about and having fun for once
Summer is the only season we have here with no allergies! One reason I like it so much, haha. Everything dries up from the heat, so no allergens. I don't dislike all children, but there seems to be an overabundance of brats.
I don't mind them having fun and playing. I did forgo to mention though that these are the same kids that broke my window 2 days ago because they kept hitting the soccer ball against it after I stepped out and asked them rather nicely to be more careful twice and not nicely once just before they broke it. So in this particular case, I feel like we've passed the 'kids will occasionally make kid mistakes' point.
I've been asthmatic since birth, so I can definitely understand what you mean by breathing being more difficult in the heat. I find a lot of outdoor sports nearly impossible in the height of summer, but the same sports are easy enough in winter. Like running.
I fence, and I hate doing it in the summer. With all the padding in the uniform and the fact it has to be long pants + long shelves + a full head mask makes it really hot... much better in the winter. ? Like talk about sweaty af when fencing in the summer.
Honestly, the sun itself. I have very pale skin, and a fragile complexion. Sun screen doesn't help. I can't be out more than 10-15 minutes after the sun has fully risen without being pinkend. Burned within an hour. Because of this, I miss a lot of summer activities I would otherwise attend.
I love it when my kids are out of school. I put them to work. I haven't had to take out the trash, sweep, mop, dust, or weed the garden for weeks now. My oldest could probably mow the grass, but it makes me nervous still. Some of his friends are taking over that chore at their houses and he's bugging his dad to teach him too. Driving the tractor is fun when you're 10. I'll probably let him. I hate the bugs in the summer. One of my daughters and I get eaten alive. And being preggo I can't take Benadryl for it right now.
Another thing I hate about the summer: trying to find dates for social events, and one of the women is probably possessed.
