  1. Warning, Implied Self-harm.

    Bicycles

A common two-wheeled or four depending on your age contraption that individuals use to get places or for exercise. How about a device used for escape? I'm not talking about going off somewhere. I'm referring to a stress or anxiety reliever, instead of doing things you could later regret. Just hoping on that bike you barely ever use, you know the one. The bike that you got for a holiday and rode it for two weeks then it just sits in your garage, collecting dust.

One day you just can't take it anymore, and you throw a tantrum with yourself. Grab the bike and take off, the anger bubbling up as you pedal. Grumbling to yourself until you've biked up a hill that leaves you out of breath. Tired and frustrated you let yourself just roll down the hill on your nice pair of wheels. You don't even have to pedal because the momentum just builds up on its own. Suddenly you feel a sense of childish joy and a rush that you haven't felt in a while.

You feel alive and happier than you have felt since your downfall. The bottom of the hill approaches and you can't wait to just keep on pedaling. Starting your turn and eyes widen because in the short distance in front of you there is another hill. In your mind you can't help but undermine yourself but you get yourself up that obstacle. Drenched in sweat, legs sore and unable to get your breathing in check but your home is just at the bottom of the hill. Your mind is clear of all bad thoughts and feelings you had before coming on this ride.

Returning home feels like a godsend and you hug the people in your home and from that day forward you start riding your bike everyday. It baffles everyone, because your mood improves and you feel better about yourself. Sometimes you have to ride twice but that alright because the bike is made for you to ride.

    It's always the better alternative.

I hope you all liked it, and criticism is greatly appreciated. This is the first in the many I have planned but only if it people will read. I won't post and waste space.

  2. This is nice, and don't stop writing and posting on here if you think no one will read your stuff. A lot of people lurk on threads, and just read the stories/poems without commenting on them. Just because you don't get replies doesn't mean people aren't reading them.

  3. Thank you for telling me that. I'll post a little later then.

  4. This is pretty deep, I love it.
