I found out that Vannessa have not been going to the canteen to eat, and I found it worrying so I proceeded to find her , only to see her sitting on a bench near a tree , alone. “why are you sitting here alone? You brought your own food?“I asked. “this are leftovers from yesterday and I like being alone..” Vannessa reply . I then remember that Vannessa might have financial problems as she was only living with her mother. “hey would you like to eat with me in the canteen? My treat.” I offered. “can I really?” she said as her eyes lit up. And we walked to the canteen. As we were eating , I asked , “ do you have a mobile phone , so that I can asked you about some problems sums that I’m unsure about” “I don’t have one” she replied “WHAT? WHY?” I panicked “I don’t think that I would have the need to own one” vannessa replied. “ITS SO UNSAFE , I DON’T CARE , WE ARE GOING TO BUY ONE ON SATURDAY! I’M GOING TO WALK YOU HOME TODAY!” I then thought , wouldn’t it be considered a date since its just the two of us? I blushed. Vannessa did not reply and ate silently. As we walked home vannessa said that she wanted to buy groceries , and we did so.i offered to carry the bag of rice she bought , and I thought “ how was she able to carry this with ease?” and we finally reached her house. She invited me in , and I met her mother , Kathryn , she was a nurse and kept insisting for my number, and I gave it to her and we talked. “ thanks for being friends with my daughter , I was worried as she does not talk about school with me.” , “ she changed ever since her father passed away when she was young I’m glad that you could be her friend” said Kathryn. “I feel bad now , I treated her more like an enemy rather than a friend” I thought and went home. That Saturday, I brought her out to buy a handphone , and insisted that I pay for her , but as stubborn as she was she rejected my offer coldly. But that didn’t stop me I decided to bring her to the nearby café to eat some cakes which I paid for and exchanged phone numbers thereafter. Once again , she did not go to the canteen, I found again at the bench and approached her. “hey are you not eating?” I asked. “nope , I’m saving money for my cram school.” Vannessa responded. At that time her phone rang , Vannessa picked it up and her face turned gloomy. “what happened? You look pale….” I asked “my mom… she got into an accident and is now in the hospital..” her voice shaky , and face about to tear up.. I grabbed her hand immediately and said “what are you waiting for lets go! Which hospital is she at?” I asked as we ran out of the school gates to flag down a taxi there. As we sat in the taxi , I held on to her shaky hands , it was smooth and small , I thought that by holding her hand it might have worked as her face seemed less anxious… as I looked at her face my heart skipped a beat , she was kind of cute……. As we reached the hospital , I brought Vannessa to her mother’s room only and it turns out she was fine , and the accident was not big as she only fracture her arm and leg.
