Scavenger hunts were released to celebrate the release of parties to PIMD and to encourage people to actively participate in them. There have been multiple phases and evolutions of these hunts. Some of the scavenger hunts are still ongoing, and they acted as the prototype to both 'sets’ and ‘drops’. In this guide I want to take you through their 2-year prime, discuss the rarity of some of these items, and provide a price guide for them. The fact that there is no limit to the number of sets you can make led to some of the components becoming quite rare, and they can only get rarer. Higher numbered items were harder to get. The latter four in each set are labelled ‘expert’, and must have dropped from harder parties (probably the pros). A lot of these were collected as they dropped from late 2012 until July 11th 2013. The items were also subject to duplication via a glitch that was discovered at the time and later patched. Suggesting stats that would match its rarity however as you can see here, it dropped from pretty plain and easy parties that could have been easily farmed. So why is it so rare? People were more concerned about getting the harder items, so just got one of the ‘granted’ ugly squashes and ended up combining it to make their corgi-copias, and there weren't many left over. Be warned: If you wish to collect this set. The components still combine to make the corgi. This can mean wasting 40 bentos worth of stuff. Be careful. The devs listed the parties that each component would drop from, and those will be included in the spoilers. 1. In the event 'Collect all 8 reindeer pugs', collecting one of each of the pugs would cause them to combine into the Santa Pug, and players would then receive hunt rewards for reaching certain milestones of numbers of Santa Pugs collected. This scavenger set is a hunt drop like the santa pug, and also the first hybrid set because not all of its components drop randomly from parties but one was a gift. It no longer combines so the items that dropped from parties are very common. A trend on PIMD is that as time progresses, more active people, and more people partying lead to more things being collected each hunt. Spoiler 1. Gorilla chocolate = 20:1c 2. September 3 - September 11, 2014 Spoiler Another hunt incorporating scavenger items to create hunt ‘drops’/progress markers was Pokeymons! The components of this set are some of the most wide-spread and abundant tradable items in the game, pokeymons are popular collectibles for players new and old. Probably the victims of a duplication glitch, people can have thousands of these items. The set no long combines. But the four pokeymons are far more nostalgic than the set anyway! 1. These old hunt drops from 2014 became a super-abundant item, collected ravenously for their cheap statistical bonus. Despite only being 15kcs each, people would buy 200 of them per bento because so many were around, and they were random drops from cat cafe (although remarkably rare, barely increasing their population from before rerelease). I remember a few keen collectors, each with over 200,000 in the early days. With some collecting over half a million. But due to this mass-hoarding, they've become quite scarce, though still a cheap source of misc bonus. The components are considerably harder to find, although not much. 1. Mummy Pug = 2c Spoiler 2. Vampire Pug = 2c Spoiler 3. Werewolf Pug = 2c Spoiler 4. Zombie Pug = 2c Spoiler _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- These are all of the Scavenger items... Originally statless. After these hunts, the devs, for the most part, desert the idea of basing hunts entirely around this format, of finding a handful of different items and then combining them into a set. The next chapter in the story of pimd showcase items will be the 'Set Hunts'. Where drops are collected from parties, these drops then combine to make distinct items, which are then combined to make Hunt sets.
Wow! You made an entire guide and nobody even gave you 1 bump?! I am disappointed in you forums. This is why you cannot have nice threads anymore, you have no respect for the time and effort keto put into this. Shame on you all!!!!! Bump.
This is very good. Also i really enjoyed combining these back then. Also im out of the loop with the worth of some of these items. What is the currency?
Currency in trade is usually chibis and bentos since chibis are on spinner constantly, means their supply is somewhat consistent.
This guide is super useful, thank you so much! I’ve been away for 4 years and I’ve been living off your guides for the last day to try and get my head around the new chibi/bento currency system!
Good guide, but I think the corgi hunt prices are far too low for their extreme rarity. When the hunt was on, people weren't looking for the squash, but rather the tofu turkey was the hardest to get.
