River's Ripples. 5:00am Day 1 I stand and look at the darkess. I begin scanning my surroundings and sees a door in the distance. I begin running for the door, but it keeps getting further and further. I hear a familiar voice saying you can do it Hikaru. I then start sprinting after it and the ground tilts. I finally reach the door and turns the knob. I open it as a bright light shines in my eyes. 6:00am I wake up to the sound of my alarm. I begin slapping it repeatedly until it falls off the end table. It falls scaring Sophie half to death and she pounces on me. Sophie is my pure bread tuxedo cat. She purrs rubbing her soft black and white fur against me. I stand and slowly drag my feet walking into the bathroom and looks in the mirror. 6:15am I'm River Ushima, I am in my senior year at Sither Academy. My best friends are Hikaru and Axel. Hikaru is a honor student, her grade are much better than mine. She has short brown hair and green eyes. She's a bit shorter than me although she has a bigger bust then me. Axel is our class clown, he always makes us laugh. But somehow gets us extra homework. He has silky black hair and eyes as blue as the sea. River's Ripples
6:30 The three of us live on a island called Selvee, with the rest of the people in the boring town. I live on the ocean side and they both live on 5th street. That's about three blocks away from here. We meet here every morning for the school days and sleep in on weekends. I start the water and get in the shower. As I wash the suds and bubbles out my ginger red hair I hear a flush. 7:00 I scream as the water grows cold and jump out wrapping myself in a towel and chases Riley down the hall. Riley is my younger brother, he is a junior now.Waving my lufa in the air I begin yelling at him. "I'm going to kill you, you little runt." He laughs and continues running into the kitchen where Axel and Hikaru are waiting for me eating my breakfast. Axel blushes and looking at me with stars in his eyes then his nose bleeds as he falls to the floor. Hikaru points at me trying to warn me that I'm still in a towel. I look down covering my body and storms upstairs. Running late as always I try to hurry. 7:14am While I am up there I begin sliding my knee high socks up, sliding on my purple and back plaid skirt and My Sither High Black jacket. Underneath the jacket I'm wearing my usual white button up and a purple sweater vest. 7:20am Placing my hand on our school seal I say quietly to myself, "This year will be different." I slide on my shoes and slide down the rail of the steps. Waiting at the bottom is Hikaru holding my muffin. "Saved you some." She says squinting her eyes and smiling bright. I laugh and take it grabbing my backpack as we walk out.
7:25am Axel is there waiting at my gate holding tissue to his nose. Hikaru tries not to laugh as I giggle a little. "It happens all the time... From the heat y'know." We both roll our eyes as we walk down the road. He stuffs the tissue in his purple jacket pocket. "Ew, that's so gross!" Hikaru and I say together. He shrugs "what whould you rather me litter." We laugh and just as we turn the corner, we see the local bad boy. 7:45am Castiel stands with his knee bent as his foot is on the wall, arms folded. We try not to look at him as we pass. Then he stops me "Hey you.. Ginger..?" He calls out. I put my head down and turn to him trying not to look as he lifts my head. "You guys can go." he brushes his hand against the air shooing then away. They start walk down the road leaving me alone with him. 7:47am I look up at him seeing yet again he is out of uniform. He its wearing his black skinny jeans, red skull rocks t-shirt and a black leather jacket. He brushes his red hair out of his face and smiles at me. I look up seeing the twinkle in his eyes and smile back, then shake my head thinking. "What does he want from me, what does ot matter he is so cute."
7:50am He brushes dust off his shoulder and looks at me. He stands up staight and begins walking. "Come on Ginger." He say already half way down the road. "My names River y'know.. not Ginger." He giggles as I say that, like it's some kind of joke. "Ginger, how's about I take you to my favorite place tonight?" I begin having a million thoughts running through my head. --- Castiel and I were great friends in the past but, things got rocky when I met Axel. I never quite knew why. Axel would do the smallest of things to make me laugh. But Castiel grew angry every chance he got. As Axel and I grew closer, Castiel pushed away. This is the first time in a while we had spoken. 8:00am Finally, we arrive at school just as I was about to answer his question, the guidance counselor comes over. He looks at Castiel as if he was some kind of savage. "Miss Ushima I would like to speak to you alone. Castiel walks away putting his hands in his pocket, 8:05am Watching him walk into the school Mr. Samson says "This is going to be a good year for you don't mess it up by hanging with the likes of him." I look down hugging myself. "He's no a bad guy y'know." Mr. Samson look at me in disappointment. "That's not what his records say, just stay away from him." I walk away into the school and run into three girls. 8:10am The girl in the middle is my school bully. With her long blonde curly hair, is Kira pretty sure she can scare the three bears. The girl to the left is Yu Lee, I'm not sure but I think karate and make-up are the only things she knows. Lastly it's Rika, former nerd whom upgraded to contacts and was finally noticed leaving me in the dark. 8:12am "Oh look the hobbits here today." She says as her minions laugh. "Oh haha grow up." I say as I walk pass her to my locker. I begin putting in my combo 10-22-84. I open my locker and start putting my stuff inside. Taking out a few books and my journal I shut my locker and feeling someone behind me. "What you're still her.. leave me alone." I say clinching a fist.
8:15am Feeling breathing down my neck I turn around and punch the person behind me. I gasp putting my hands to my mouth. "Oh my gorsh, are you okay?" I say as Mark lay bleeding at the mouth. "Oh who am I kidding your hurt." He looks at me holding his lip. "It's okay, I'm okay!" He looks at the blood in his hand. "It's really that bad." He then faints and drag him leg, stuggling and waving my arms. 8:30am We get to the nurses office and I tell her what happened. I leave... Well a lot of details out. Okay so I lied, but I didn't want a weeks detention. I do have a life outside of school. Okay I lied about that too. I work at a caffe waiting tables. Well it'ts better than Hikaru's job. She attends kids parties usually beaten apart by the time she gets home. 8:40am I try sneaking into class and as soon as I take my seat, "Miss Ushima if you wish to pass my class you should be here on time." Mrs. Iris says in a stern voice. ignoring her I lay my head down on my desk. Hearing tic-tok noise from the clock, and the sound blah blah from Mrs. Iris' mouth I let out a scream knocking the papers off my desk. Soon enough the bell rings and I run out. 9:00am Running to my next class not watching where I'm going I run into Rika. "Oof!" We both scream and fall back dropping our books. We both go grabbing at out books. Instead of grabbing my diary I grab hers, and she grabs mine. She scoffs and pushes me back down and walks off. Castiel walks up to me and helps me up. Turns out we have this class together. "Do you wanna skip and I show you that place now?" He says persistantly. 9:10am I take his hand and together we walk up to the roof. He does some tricks on his skateboard and wheels around me. I turn and watch him as he grinds the edge of the roof. Then he hops off and holds it infront of him. "Your turn Ginger." I look at him worried and twittles my fingers. He places it on the ground before me and puts me on it. 10:00am He helps me ride around and after a while he lets go. I start riding around like I've done it my whole life. he starts playing music from his ipod. I start trying to dance and falls of scraping my knee. He quickly runs over and smiles at me placing a bandage over the cut then looks in my eyes. I look back in his feeling the world disappear. He then leans in for a kiss as I slowly lean as well.
2:00pm We are inches away from my first kiss. The door to the roof open and someone walks out. "Castiel!!! What are you doing with her." Kira calls out as my the world appears and crumbles. He moves his hand and I fall back and lay on the ground. What just happened, why is this happening. I'm a good person right? The last thing I wanted to find out is that they are dating. 2:12pm They leave the roof and I lay there staring at the sky. After a while I pull out my phone and look at the time. "I missed all of my classes." I say to myself in shock. I get up and run to my locker as the last bell rings. I grab Rika's diary and stick it in my bag. Walks outside and runs to my house, racing past Axel who was trying to get my attention. 4:00pm I quickly change my clothes for work then runs down the stairs, skipping steps and ignoring the pain in my knee. Hopping on my bike I ride all the way to the caffe and lock my bike on the rack in the back alley. I walk inside and clock in. "Just in time!" I whisper to myself in excitement.
4:30pm I walk to the back grabbing the tray taking the food to table 3. They ordered a decaf and a donut. I pour the coffee at his table. He seems a little suspicious wearing a dark black hoodie unable to see his face. I roll my eyes and walk away maybe it's nothing. I take a few tables orders and go back to the back starting more coffee. 5:00pm I'm just about tired of smelling coffee as the steam rises and smack against my face. I walk back out delivering their food then fixes the magazines to pass time. Then rearranges the goodies from hole to filled doughnuts, to logs and muffins. I look around and that guy is still here. 7:40pm "Can I help you with anything sir, we're going to need this table soon." He shakes his head and gets up bumping me out of his way. Hitting the tables behind me I watch as he leaves. As he walks out Castiel walks inside. I look at him and he smiles. I roll my eyes and takes the guys dirty dishes to the back. Brushing it off like it's nothing Castiel takes a seat. "Well aren't you going to take his order?" the manager says shoving me back out. 8:00pm "Welcome to Kumi's Koffee Kaffee, can I take your order?" I say without looking at him with a bit of attitude. "I'm waiting on my family they'll be here in just a minute." I go to walk away and he grabs my hand. "What's your problem!" He says irritable. I pull my arm out of his hand and walk to the back. Someone else takes their order as I wash dishes. 8:30pm I walk out asking if they would like a refill holding the coffee pot in my left hand. His parents nod and I pour as I look up I see Kira and she starts laughing seeing me in my work uniform. "Oh gawsh I need a picture of this one." Castiel takes her phone and slides it in his pocket. She glares at him taking a bite of her moshi and shakes his head. "You should listen to your boyfriend y'know." 8:35am Instantly she begins choking on her food. "Girlfriend!!" They say simultaneously getting wide eyed. Castiel jumps up on the booth waving his arms and yanking his hair. "You was acting like a @#$%& cause you thought I was her boyfriend. I stretch stratching the back of my neck then slowly walks backwards. "Oops! Silly me, jumping to conclusions." I quickly run to the back and take off my apron.
9:00pm I clock out and walk to the alley unlocking bike. Walking to the end of the alley I hear a noise behind me. I turn my head and see a trash can lid spinning. I walk over leaving my bike on the sidewalk. Stopping the lid I pick it up and put it on top of the trash. I turn to walk back and I see the guy from the caffe earlier. Castiel walks outside with his family and looks over noticing my bike. 9:10pm He pushes me against the wall and puts a gun to my chest covering my mouth. "You scream you die!" He yells at me as I look around at the people passing by near the sidewalk. Figures in this town no one notices a crime happening. Listening to him speak those word, I begin thinking how am I supposed to scream with your hand on my mouth. He grabs my bag with all my tips and starts running. 9:12pm Am I the only one who is crazy enough to chase after the guy whom could of easily ended my life if he wanted to. Cause that's just what I'm doing. He trip over my bike and gets back up running past Castiel. I get on the bike and starts peddling after him. Castiel leans into the car as I aost hit him. Riding through grass and down hills I get closer to him. 9:40pm I then ride down some steps that lead to our local park I crash into him. Flipping into a tree I hit my head as he lays in the middle of the road. Cars stop in front of him and get out seeing the gun and gasp. I slowly get up and walk to the guy grabbing my bag. The police arrive at the scene and I write a report. They hook my bike to the back and take me home. 11:50pm I walk inside with a few bumps and bruises. Hearing my father from the livingroom drunk "You're in big trouble missy, what makes you think you can be out all night?" I walk into the livingroom "I was almost robbed I wasn't going to let him get away." He scolds me taking my money and continues drinking. I run upstairs seeing it was all for nothing. 12:04am I lay in my bed hugging a pillow then grabs the diary. I grab my pen as tears fill my eyes. I look at the handwriting and it's not mine. I begin reading it and seeing all of Rika's secrets. Meanwhile at Rika's she's knocked out at her desk from all the homework and the diary left unread. 12:45am Day 2 I walk into Riley's room and shake him until he wakes up. "Hey can you see if your friend Liam can get my diary from Rika?" He nods and goes back to sleep and I go to my room closing my eyes. Lets just hope he reaches it time. Behind my eyelids I begin dreaming. Opening the door I see a bright light that goes dull. Behind the door is my future.
3:00am I run faster and faster trying to get away. Everywhere I turn there he is watching me. I hear his voice echoing in my head. "You scream you die." I hear repeatedly as I try to tune it out. Then everything goes limp. The silence grows throughout my head. Then I get striking to the ground by my father drinking whiskey. The room spins out of control and I wake up screaming. 5:00am I pick Sophie up and hold her in my arms stoking her. "It was just a bad dream is all." She purrs and snuggles into me. I then snuggle back then place her in her kitty condo. I rub her head as I walk pass. I walk inside the bathroom running the water for my shower. I step inside gently going over my wounds and in the other room I hear my phone going off. 5:30am I walk out and check my phone ringing our my hair. I answer it and a frightening voice says "Watch your back I'm coming back for you," I hang up the phone quickly. I drop to the floor hugging my knees. I crawl to my window and look around just to make sure I'm not being watched. Peeking through the shades I only see trees, leaves, bushes, and our trampoline. 5:40am I start getting ready for school. I grab her diary and stick it in my bag. I slide on some random shoes and walks back to the bathroom. I start brushing my teeth and looks around feeling like someone is watching my. I finish and check my teeth. "Ahhh perfect!" I look at my watch seeing I'm done early for once. I then make my way downstairs hoping breakfast is ready. 6:00am Smelling moms pancakes I smile and sit in my seat. "How was work last night mom." I ask as she begins fixing plates. "What happened to you?" She analyzes the mark across my face and the rest from that guy. I look down picking up a piece of bacon. "Nothing, just fell." she stares at me in disbelief. "That is a hand print I doubt you JUST fell" she says placing her hands on her hips. As if she'd believe me of I told her. 6:10am Hikaru walks in with Axel and they see that I'm awake. "You ran right past me yesterday, I had some great news " he says before reaching the table and seeing my face. As soon as he sees he hugs me tight taking my breath away. Hikaru tosses the paper on the table for me to see. "You made the front page, btw someone bailed him out. 6:20am My mom begins reading over my shoulder and looks at me. "Just fell huh? Is there anything else you're hiding from me?" I nod and look down. "Castiel.. and I, we're talking again." She kicks me out the house and I stand there holding my plate. "Well thats awfully sweet of her." We all begin taking what we can before my mom comes out snatching the plate.
6:30am We start walking out my gate as Castiel pulls up on his motorcycle. "Come on Ginger, we've go site seeing to do." He says as I run over to him. "River!! What about Axel and I.. are you really ditching us again for that piece of @#$%." I look at her with anger, unable to belief she just said that to me. They make their way to school as Castiel takes me to the beach. 7:30am We arrive at the beach on north shore. This is where the rich stuck up people usually go to hang out. It was quite confusing for me since last I seen Castiel, him and his mother lived in a shack. Not to mention in the worst place in town. "Did you bring a bikini Ginger," he ask as he lifts off his black t-shirt. I shake my head staring at his wash board abs. He smiles at me gliding his hand through his hair. "It's okay there's a shop over near the boardwalk." 8:00am We are walking along the beach me in a black bikini with a red laced trim. Also brand new flip flops. Back at the store he spent over $500 no matter how many times I refused. It's the last one, he said. You will you great in it he said. Although he was right I look amazing in it I still don't like being pampered. 8:30am "I'm glad you decided to let loose and have a little fun with me." He says noticing my smiles placing hand on my cheek. We stop walking and once again leans in for a kiss. "IN COMING" Jook yells as I get hit in the head. I begin think of his familiar voice but I just can't. Maybe it's the ringing in my ear after the hit. Who knows, all I know is that hurt. 9:30am Castiel's holding a ice pack on my head. "Why is it everytime I around you I get hurt?" I ask as I giggles. Castiel looks at me emotionless and then begins laughing. "Maybe I'm just bad luck y'know." I push him playfully forgetting the awkward moment. He leans over and kisses my forehead. 10:00 He leaves me for a short time and goes over to talk to Jook. Not knowing who he is, or even how they know each other I decide to stay where I was. I look around the beach seeing a dog playing. and children laughing. I look back at Castiel as he looks around slipping Jook a wad of cash. I look down holding the ice pack to my head. As I go to look back over at them Castiel is standing there holding two ice cream cones.
10:20am "You two were talking for an awful long time, was it anything important." Castiel look at me eating his ice cream. I start eating mine "wow this is really good." He smiles at me. "It wasn't anything important... I owed him money." I continue eating my ice cream as we reach his bike. We both finish then get on the bike we go for a cruise. 12:00pm We arrive at the mountain summit. We sit on top of a rock looking at the view. I see the train slowly riding across the tracks below, and boats in the ocean. I kick my feet and Looks at him as he places a flower in my hair. I giggles "So are we finally alone?" He grabs my hand and takes my inside his cabin. "Now.. we are alone." Looking worries I go to step outside. He stops me with his arm blocking the door. "Nothing is going to happen I promise." He says with a honest look in his eyes. 12:45pm We lay in the bed in the guest room. I count the ceiling tiles as he watches a movie. Messing up over 100 times I finally get it right. He scoots me closer to him. I lay beside him watching as we hear his bike start up outside. "Stay here, I'll be right back!" He shouts as he runs outside after his bike. I lay there and look at my phone. "No service, figures we are in the mountains." I look over seeing his phone. I pick it up and begins going through it. Before I can read the message it dies. I fold my arm and lays down as he walk back in. 2:00pm "And you're positive there is no other way back?" He looks at me annoyed "For the last time, without my bike I'm useless but if you'd like to walk by all means." He motions to the door and I fold my arms. He takes my hand and kisses me passionately. I kiss back falling into his arms. He holds me tight and takes me out back. I get into the hot tube and relaxes. 2:30pm "Aren't you getting in?" I ask politely not wanting to be alone. He nod "Just one second I have something to do first." I smile and lay back closing my eyes. I hear what sounds like him talking to himself. He slips into the water and cuddles beside me. I bury me head into his chest. He rubs my head softly. 5:00pm I get out and walk inside and he follows close behind. A bunch of people start working their way inside the house. "Whoa what the @#%& is going on here?" He puts his arm around me. "Something called a party." He walks over too Jook leaving me with a ton of strangers. Watching Jook carefully I notice in big crowds he seems a bit quiet and out of place. 7:50pm More people show up and he is begins sitting quietly alone. I walk over to him and sit down. "Are you okay?" Jook looks up at me and says "I... I ca... can't. Too...m..m..m..many people." I smile notifying it'll be alright and goes to look for Castiel. Castiel dances to the music and pulls me in.
8:00pm We are dance and going crazy as peoples leap into the pool. Castiel run and flips in as I watch. He pops his head out of the water and waves for me to get in. I shake my head and someone pushes me in. "Get yer ass in there!" I feel like I've been falling for days. My life is flashing before my eyes. 8:45pm When I was a little girl I was out by our pound. That's where daddy kept our koi fish. Castiel would let them nibble on his finger. I tried but I couldn't reach them. I leaned further and fell in. Spinning and wirling I couldn't find my way back up. I felt like i was being pulled away. Castiel pulled me out and yelled for my dad. He came running and saved my life. That's probaby where his drinking came from. --- Falling into the crystal clear water I begin freaking out. Castiel rushes to me and pulls me close. "River!! River!! I'm here please.." he said in a calming voice. He then pulls me out and we go back to the guest room to talk about it. 9:01pm "What happened back there. At the pool I mean." I look at him with tears filling my eyes. "I can't swim I never learned since what happened at the pond." He looks shocked and pulls me close. "I'd never let anything happen to you." he says as he rubs my back. He cups my face and kisses me. I kiss back as he lays on top of me. The night rolls in and the wolves howl. 1:20am Day 3 Most of the people are dunk crashed on the floor, as I walk toward the kitchen in one of Castiels old shirts. I pour a glass of orange juice and take a sip. I take a drink up gliding one leg up the other. Finishing I wash all the dishes and straighten up a bit. Jook stands there watching me. I look back at him as he takes a sip of a four loco. 1:34am "Castiel's lucky y'know, I'd die before I let a girl like you go." I smile and walk back to the room. I lay beside Castiel and he smiles in his sleep and I lay on his chest listening to his heart beat. I wrap the blanket around us and snuggle close. Thinking of what Jook had said to me. I begin closing my eyes and drifting away. 2:45am The room spins and begins to low as my dad grows furious. "Oh so now you think you can stay out all night too?" Echos in my head. I begin running through the forest right into the arms of that guy. "I'd die before a girl like you go." he says in a sincere voice. I take his off hood and it's Jook.
