Revenge "Oh, so this was your girlfriend?" I smile up at the man towering over me. I wiped some blood off my cheek with the back of my hand, "My bad," I continue in a playful manner. "Why?" He only has one question, one word, for me. "Ha, ha, are you mad?" I shove the kitchen knife into the woman's corpse one last time. Soon, lights of red and blue fill the air. "Hands up!" My hands immediately fly upward into the sky. -One month later- "Don't leave this apartment, that is the only rule," The tall man says, closing the door behind him. This man is the same one as the man on the night I was arrested. Although it was unusually dark at that hour, I could still see that he had the same dark mocha-colored hair and long, handsome face. "So, like a prisoner?" I retort. "Not quite, to put it in terms of words, I'd say you're under house arrest. You're not gonna be tied up or anything and you're free to use anything around the house," The man replies calmly, taking off his jacket and placing it on a coat hanger near the entryway that lead into the kitchen of his small apartment. "So why're you doing this again? Revenge?" I sit down at a nearby table, questioning his motives. What else could he want than to have me, the murderer of his girlfriend, dead? "Mhm, I'll do it, I just won't tell you when," He opens a cupboard to take out some ground coffee beans and starts up his cheap-looking coffee maker. "So it's like those criminals on death row, not knowing what they're execution date is? You're trying to wear away at my mind?" It's a rather typical plot of revenge. How lame. "You're free to draw your own conclusions," He smiles and hands me a cup of completely black coffee. Ugh, I hate bitter things. It makes me want to piss him off more. "And what about that?" I point to a large kitchen knife on the edge of the kitchen counter, "You sure you want that there? What if I killed you with it?" "You're free to do that as well," He simply took a sip of his coffee. I hate this guy, thinking he has the best of me. I mean, what kind of revenge involves letting me do whatever I want aside from leaving the apartment? I saw he didn't lock the door, so maybe I was free to do that as well. "What part of this is revenge?" I ask bluntly, taking a swing of the coffee, only to spit it back out again. Bleh, bitter and hot. "All of it," His calm expression remains. His emotionlessness pisses me off. All I want to do is make his calmness fade. I want him to be mad at me. "Your girl was pretty. I should have raped her before killing her, but her scream annoyed the hell out of me. She kept screaming 'It hurts! it hurts!' Soon, she started screaming 'I want to stay! I want to stay!' It was all very sickening," This definately will piss him off. I smirk at my efforts. I continue, "But guess what? People who think like that and actually want to die, don't feel any pain." "I see," He says expressionless as ever. Why won't he snap?! He gets up from the table, finished with his coffee, and starts walking away. "HEY! YOU GONNA PUNCH ME OR WHAT?!" I blurt out without thinking, "I offended you, right?!" "It's fine, I'm in the middle of my revenge, after all" He smiles back at me like he knows me, "Since we'll be living with eachother for a while, why don't we try to get along, okay, Mason? My name's Noah by the way." "Even though I'm the target of your revenge?" It all seems sketchy. I've made up my mind that I won't get tricked and fall into his trap. Not that easily anyway.
