Early this year Google implemented a new system for determining and displaying content ratings. You can find more information on this here. With this change Party In My Dorm was rated as a Teen game on Google Play yet remained 17+ on iOS. Because of this inconsistency as well as the fact that we rely on platforms (and their respective parental control options) to restrict underaged players we updated our Terms of Use to not ban players who were under 17 years of age, as long as they were at least 13 years of age and had parental consent. We recently resubmitted our ratings for review to Google and have obtained a Mature 17+ rating, which makes it easier for parents to restrict content they may not find suitable for their children. As we do not collect personally identifiable information we are not able to verify the age of new users but instead rely on the platform (Apple / Google) to verify that content is served to the appropriate audiences. Both of these platforms have parental controls in place that can be used to prevent children from downloading applications in a number of ways. We do want to keep Party In My Dorm a safe environment, and as such we have implemented the following age policies: 1) Players claiming to be under 17 years of age in a public channel will be silenced and receive a message that explains the dangers of revealing personal information as well as reminds them that this is a mature game. 2) Players claiming to be under 13 years of age in a public channel will be permanently banned from the game. We hope this updated policy continues to keep Party In My Dorm an enjoyable and safe place for all of our users.
