I know you can get silenced for a number of reasons on here but I find it sort of silly how you can get silenced for calling out a scammer. I’ve seen this one person who has been scamming people for a couple days in Campus and Pub chat. When people call this person out they either get a warning or just silenced. I understand it can be annoying having these types of messages in the chats but I think people should be warned when there’s a scammer out there. This person has been scamming people out of those 99ec masks that can only be gifted. So people saying “Open a trade so you don’t be scammed” I understand that but at the same time if someone is saying they’ll gift these masks to people for whatever amount of bentos I don’t think they should abuse that trust.
The reason is because it is a public accusation. ATA has no way of monitoring whether or not accusations like that are legitimate because ATA does not monitor private messages. Someone could easily start calling you a scammer, and ATA would not be able to punish the person for lying if public accusations like that were permitted since they would not be able to verify it. And I think that people do not want ATA to start monitoring PMs. The best thing to do instead of calling out individual scammers is to inform people of common behaviors so they can learn to identify potential scammers ー i.e., 14cs accounts promising to send EC gifts, people rudely demanding you send the bentos before they drop/gift, and the like.
