Was asked by a few people to define the June "Pride" gifts' identities, so here Two-Spirit: A Native nonbinary identity. Someone who feels both male and female. Not to be used by non-natives. Trigender: A nonbinary identity that encompasses male, female, and a third gender identity. Controversial within the LGBT community. Transs**ual: A slur ? Please don't use it lol. Derogatory/fetishizing term for transgender people. Nowadays almost solely used as a term for pørn. Transgender: Refers to any person whose gender does not match the sëx they were assigned at birth. *Adjective, NOT a noun. "A transgender person" not "A transgender" Skoliosexual: Made up to refer to people who "are only attracted to nonbinary people," which of course doesn't exist because nobody has any way of knowing whether someone in NB without asking/being told. If you're only attracted to someone after being told they're nonbinary, that's just fetishization of NB people... Not a sexuality. Lol. Not LGBT. Polysexual: SEE Bisexual Pansexual: SEE Bisexual Nonbinary: Umbrella term for trans people whose gender identity falls outside of "male" or "female" Neutrois: SEE Agender Lithsexual: Someone who stops liking a person if the person likes them back... Not a sexuality, definitely not LGBT. Lesbian: A female-aligned person who is solely attracted to female-aligned people. Intersex: Someone who was born with neither a distinct male nor female body. Chromosomes, hormones, genìtals, reproductive organs, etc may not all indicate the same sëx. Many intersex people may go on to identify as trans, but intersex itself is not an identity, therefore not inherently LGBT. Hermaph****te: Slur for intersex people. Do not use. Genderqueer: Said to be a synonym for nonbinary but considered a slur by many nonbinary people due to containing the word qu**r. Do not refer to an NB person as genderqueer unless they've identified themselves this way. Genderfluid: A nonbinary identity wherein one's gender fluctuates; ie. one month they may feel agender, whereas the next they may feel male. Gay: An individual who is solely attracted to the same gender. Bigender: A nonbinary identity wherein one feels that they are both male and female. Bisexual: Attraction to two or more genders. "Polysexual" and "pansexual" are both synonymous with bisexual; the only point that's been argued with ridding the latter two terms altogether is that pansexual people "don't see gender" whereas bisexual people can have a preference for one gender or another. Either way, the "B" in LGBT covers all of em! Autosexual: Someone who'd rather jerk off than have sëx. Not a sexuality. Obviously not LGBT. Androgynous: Someone whose "aesthetic" is neither distinctly male nor female. Not an identity, not LGBT. Just a style. Asexual: One who is not sexually attracted to any gender/s. Not an inherently LGBT identity. There ya go Questions? ?
thank you! i agree with everything here. i would add that Two Spirit is not inherently LGBT because most native people i've encountered that identify as Two Spirit do NOT identify as LGBT (particularly trans).
corrections and clarifications need to be made to give out the right information. no one wants to be misinformed, eh?
Cree, to be specific. And it's not a 'gender identity' at all tbh it's a religious thing and it just means that all cree people (or all ppl in general) are born with two spirits, a male and a female one. It's not an identity you just take on. And ty for the list, Kitten.
i appreciate this. i’m still mad that i can’t edit the one i made because i would have liked to refine things. :’(
i just said identity not gender identity for two spirit diff native ppl define it diff ways tbh so i prefer to keep it vague because im white and don't want to overstep. either way, dont ID as two spirit if ur not native was the summary LOL
TLR I understand the motives, But if people keep making separate threads on the exact same thing it kinda looks like an attention thing after awhile And for half of these, I don't see how one could criticize a definition, It's a pride thing and you wouldn't want people to incorrectly label someone or whatever the case may be. Seeing at least three people having different definitions raises flags tho, It's contradictory to the other two threads. If the point of them is to let people better understand and/or respect it then everyone should be on the same page in my opinion, It just seems logical, Before this is perceived as hate speech or whatever tf I'm just trying to give input that would help the community as far as getting proper awareness around. Non-Binary strikes me as someone saying "Non-DNA" so my natural response is "So you a robot or some shyt?", Anyways it doesn't matter wtf I think and tbh I really don't care what others sexually/spiritually/emotionally classify themselves as cause it ain't my business in the first place and I know how to mind mine. The only reason I'm speaking on this matter is because it's getting repetitive af, And when it gets to this point it begins to get mocked (Example being BLM movement) so I'm trying to give advice on a matter that I have no clue about lol but I'm attempting to do it for the better of "the community", As I said earlier I have no malicious intentions but someone will feel some typa way because there's always that one person. I feel like you'll get the point, Clean the ideas up a bit so it doesn't give out the wrong idea, That's all. Oh and btw I saw what happened between Jaco and someone else so I'm making it a point to say rn that I will NOT be doing no back and forth bs.
I am learning a lot from these threads. Thank you all for providing a little bit more understanding of these terms. I want to avoid using any of these terms incorrectly or in a way that offends anyone. Respect.
My somewhat hostile response wasn't directed at you anyway, even tho ik i quoted. Was more trying to elaborate on it for other ppl reading, particularly the ppl who think it's appropriate to identify as two-spirit
:’( awwww jaco gets his name said but not me? i’m hurt. honestly. and i’m not gonna drag you back and forth because you’re at least trying to be polite and respectful, unlike someone.
Honestly the LGBTQIAAP+(extended it to annoy Jacob and to be even more inclusive ?) side of the forums is really stepping up this pride month ? go us.
