Word of the day: Voluntarism - will to power/not reason. Will has primacy over reason. Reason is out and will is in. So hip. The world is irrational and chaotic so we must fabricate. Fabrication gives us an understanding however it is not an ultimate truth because, "There is no Truth." God (Oh no), matter and everything else is currently out of the picture. Nietzsche also says, "God is dead," and the question has been asked, "Who killed God?" Us. We killed our belief in God because in all of honesty, we may say we believe, however NOBODY lives like they believe. Strength is valued. Virtu = Strength (Roman) Virtue = Excellence, Arête, (Everyone else) Slave classes (morality) adopted a code that emanates from resentment. "At what?" They resent their own inability to combat the aristocratic class in equal terms. In order to level the playingfield, they needed to commit devious acts.. They supported democracy, promoted the principal principle of equality to bring the aristocrats down to their quality, and tried their own religion and begin to impose it on everyone. Love, charity and humility are absolute values which are then associated w/ God and Jeebus. However, once the Christian morality is in place, the strong stands beyond good and evil. There is one who may transcend the values of Christian morality: The transvaluation of values. Superman can do it. (Ubermich or something like that.) he goes beyond good and evil. Superman is contrasted against the herd. (The crowd). No military might, no batman, no metropolis, no x-ray laser vision, no clothes-removing glasses (damn it!)..etc. The value of creativity is something that comes from your inner soul. The superman is a "rope" and becomes a guiding light for the herd so they may realize the full of creative power. The herd: conformity like Sheep. Count your friends to help you sleep at night. Superman: the ultimate hipster commander. The herd avoids challenging life situations. Superman confronts obstacles which requires discipline. Nietzsche rejects the belief in God, (which pretty much put him on the hitlist during his day), and quotes, "God is dead." Man must depend on their self rather than their belief in external bodies. The superman must have self-control, discipline, and invite pain as an obstacle to be overcome. Nietzsche runs the streets with a lantern and yells, "God is dead. You have killed him." He means that the belief of God is dead. It has been succumb by the tax of >empiricism<, >skepticism<, and >mechanism<. Empiricism, "I know my world through experiences," which is limited because my experiences are limited. Skepticism, people began to be skeptical because they thought the human beings could not possibly know everything. Mechanism, the world is dead, everything is pushing and pulling. Things only move is something move it. Laws of science prove it. Descartes idea is a "clockwork universe." Of course people believed in God, however, "Is your belief in God the same as the Christians following Jeebus, the Jews wishing for their freedom?" Probably not. Deism, the belief that there is a higher power which had created the world and then ran off. (Absent God) God created the world perfectly and gave us reason for the laws of the world. God does not intervene in his creation. Journal entry #5: discuss 1) Nietzsche's two types of morality. (Express in your own way)..haha I can't wait for this. 2) In what way does his superman transcend good and evil according to Neitzsche? 1-2 pages, 1" margins. Please do not get butthurt, analmad or buttfrustrated over my notes because you do not agree with it. It isn't an argument. These are my notes which are based on a series of ideas presented by a philosopher in the late 1800s. Stay Frosty, -CJS
Foot, believe it or not, I do not actually force you to open my threads. You cry about me constantly, I wouldn't be surprised if my name is tattooed on your chest with hearts all around it. You seem emotionally drawn to me.
Yuuzan, did you know that Nietzsche didnt support the idea of the belief in God? I thought the phrase I may or may not have said, multiple times, "God is dead," may actually denounce the idea that I am a priest.
