Prologue It was by chance. Pure chance that the two of them met... Maria Tschetter and Kevin Heather. Two different characters as well and different backgrounds... Maria... age sixteen and international figure skater. A shy and kind girl. Frail and gorgeous. Kevin... age eighteen and a stunt pilot. Very dare-devilish and handsome. Outgoing and caring. It is curious to some about how these two met. It was just a regular day on March 2nd, 2011... ~~~~~~~<><><>~~~~~~<><><>~~~~~~~
Chapter 1 Maria's Point of View ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Maria! Where are you?! You need to be out there in less than five minutes!" "I'm coming Ma'am!" I shouted. I ran down the hall towards the rink. My God I was nervous... I had placed second for my last performance. I had scarcely even made it to the finals and my heart was racing. "You look nervous. Loosen up or you are going to fail and as your coach I can't allow that to happen." "Yes Ma'am," I said quietly. My coach... Regina Loren had been my coach for two years now. She was harsh and sometimes cruel, but I was used to it by now. "Your mother and brother have made it this time. They are sitting in the front so do well and please them," she told me before I was going to go onto the ice. I nodded and took a deep breath. I entered onto the ice and presented myself as the announcer spoke: Next up is silver medalist, Maria Tschetter, age sixteen from Toronto. A true Canadian beauty! She will be skating to a Romeo and Juliet mix by Craig Armstrong. Applause rang out and I began my number. My heart raced as the music played and I felt a fiery passion of the music as I skated around the ice. My life... this was my life. Kevin's Point of View ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I grinned as I heard the shouts and cheers of my fans down below. Shouts rang out as I did one more trick in my small beat up plane. That's right... I'm a stunt pilot. Dangerous as it is I love it. The thrill and the experience is exhilarating and it makes me feel real. "You did well Kevin!" laughed my best friend, Jake. "Thanks man. It wasn't my best though... I wasn't trying hard cause I'm pretty exhausted. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day so I'll do what I can tomorrow." "Haha, course you will! Brittney will be there!" "Brittney? Haines?" I asked. I sighed. Not her... damn it... I'd have to perform badly again. That girl really annoyed me, even if she was my oldest and longest friend. "Oh really?" "Yeah. She's coming with her boyfriend, Mark." Another sigh. That as*hole guy was my one rival in Colorado high school before I moved to Virginia. "Is something wrong?" "No. Not a damn thing... I mean, come on! What would make me more happy than my longest friend and her idiot boyfriend coming to see me?!" "Haha, so you are upset!" "Shut up! I'm trying to forget..." I said and I grabbed my waterbottle. Jesus... this was gonna be a long weekend... ~~~~~~~<><><>~~~~~~<><><>~~~~~~~ Authors note: If you want to know the songs I was thinking and she danced to then search them on YouTube Songs: •Escape (by Craig Armstrong) •Oh Verona (by Craig Armstrong) From the soundtrack of Romeo and Juliet ~Katie Shute
Chapter 2 Maria's Point of View ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was the end of the championship and I stood among all the rest of the skaters. This was nerve wrecking... I was going to die, I knew it! The announcer finally came on to announce the medalists. "Now to announce the medalists in this New York freestyle championship! Third place will go to... Nina Klassen, for her amazing number with the song Prelude in D minor by Bach! Well done Miss Klassen! I watched as the skinny girl went to receive her medal. My heart began to pound in my chest... Now second place goes to a very young and fine skater... Growing up in Toronto, Ontario, this gorgeous Canadian girl definitely deserves second place! The silver medal goes to... Maria Tschetter! She has won with the number Romeo and Juliet by Craig Armstrong! Bravo!" Applause. Sh*t... I knew it... I went over to receive my medal. Second place again. I wondered who would be gold... I hadn't seen any performance that stood out to me today... Now... for first place and the gold medalist... I announce that the winner of this years New York championship is... Anastasia Yurovski!" Anastasia Yurovski?! The Russian girl who was very serious and intimidating?! I looked towards the brown haired girl who went to receive her medal. She was pretty and she didn't even smile... So she was my rival then? Great... "Second place is great, Maria!" said my mother while we were driving to the hotel. "But it's not the best," I said quietly. "But I did try my all today. So it just means I have to practice harder." "I thought you did well Maria!" said Nathan, my younger brother. He looked up at me from his PSP. I smiled. "Why thank you Nathan!" He smiled back and continued to play with his PSP. As we stopped at a red light I sighed and looked out the window. Suddenly my heart froze. There was a young man standing, waiting for the bus. He had dark hair and light hazel eyes. He was gorgeous... He was dressed in leather and wore a few chain necklaces and heavy looking boots. He then looked right at me... Our eyes met for a second before I quickly turned away in embarrassment... My God... my heart was racing faster than ever! Kevin's Point of View ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Oh shut up and leave me alone!" I demanded. I had been walking along the streets in New York with Jake. I had never actually been in the Big City before... I had just arrived and it seemed pretty cool. "Oh come on! She said she wants to see you now! She's waiting at the hotel for you." "But she's with that idiot right? The one she calls her boyfriend?" "Yeah..." "Then I'm not going tonight. She has the patience to wait, I know her better than anyone. If she wants to see me, she can see me without her murderous companion." "Now don't be mean. You barely know the guy!" "Ha! I went to high school with him in Colorado. He was a year older but he always picked on people. I was the only one ever to stand up to him and beat him up. Of course he beat me up as well. But he's been my rival since." "Hmm... he's that bad huh?" "Don't even get me started! Anyways,
cut me off! ~~~~~~~<><><>~~~~~~<><><>~~~~~~~ "... Anyways, I'll catch up with you later," I said. "Where you going?" "Just for a walk. Well technically I'm going to take the bus, but same difference." "Okay, don't go too far." "Yeah I won't," I said and I grinned. I then turned and walked to the bus stop. Man... I was so exhausted... For a moment I felt something weird... As if someone were watching me. I looked around but there appeared to be no one. I then looked into the traffic and there was a car a few feet away... The girl in it was looking at me. She quickly turned away and I raised an eyebrow. Although I had only seen her face for a second... I had to admit she was pretty... She had light brown hair and green eyes... her face was pale yet ascetic. I felt an odd feeling arise in my chest...
