Over a bil? Need a volley? Struggling to get a volley? Read this - it might help you.

Many new players over a bil have been asking for a volley recently and not understanding why they won't get one.

Hopefully this thread might provide an insight into the costs and profits from volleying, as well as some alternative strategies for making money.

You need to have something to offer the people volleying you.
- This could be existing cash
- Having an inactive to farm
- Doing jobs to get credits to convert to cash
- Finding active tutors to volley

These will make you more attractive when players are looking for who they should volley.

Details

When you get volley from 1k to about 350mil you will make about 28mil for crew which gives you 5k stats.

The two people volleying each make about 70mil with the person holding the tutor at about 350mil holding the risk until the tutor sells.

The people who volley you make about 20%. So a volley from 350mil to about a bil makes each person about 130mil. Sounds good right?

Again the person holding the tutor takes the risk - they need the tutor to sell in order for them to realise their profit of about 130mil when you cost a bil.

At a bil you will have made about 49mil to spend on tutors, which leaves you about 3mil short of 5.9k stats.

You now either need to work for that 3mil to get 5.9k stats or do some drop volleys which erodes your volleyers margins.

If you are a bil and you have no cash (let's assume you are 5.9k stats already) and you want volleying then this is where the problems start.

A volley to two bil from a bil will only make you about 13mil - this leave you at least 3mil short of swapping one of your 225k crew for a 16mil crew.

It also leaves you hugely overpriced - 2bil for 6.3k stats.

What if we volley you to 4bil from a bil? You would make 29mil which is again 3mil short of swapping 2x 225k crew for 16mil crew, and gives you 6.7k stats.

Bad news? This is again over priced. 4bil should be at least 9k stats if not 11k/12k as the reason you are being volleyed is after all for the people volleying you to make a profit.

Volleying from 1bil to 4bil with only 29mil of cash coming to you means a huge amount of time, effort and cost to get you to market value.

A volley from 1k to 1mil is about 140 hires. This is ten mins work for experienced volleyers, twenty mins if you are volleying with someone inexperienced.

Being frank the first mil is boring and a chore, especially when doing multiple drop volleys to keep you underpriced so we can sell you on.

Presenting a package of a one mil volleyed active is a very interesting proposition as it means the volleyer may not need to drop the pupil at the end of the volley with you and they may be able to make further margin.

Having 15credits means you can convert these to cash with the nurse. You can get credits by doing jobs. The first job gives you the most opportunity to get credits but makes you no money.

A strategy of farming inactives, doing well paying jobs and doing "opportunity" jobs will provide a balanced approach to make you your own money an get credits.

15credits is worth about 1.4mil if you have 13dorms.

The cash flow for the volleyers is hugely important - they need to have cash to volley. If their cash is tied up in tuts which don't sell then they have less opportunity to make money themselves.

So in summary if you want to be helped, then help other people to help you.

If you've got ten mil then volleying 3x active players to your max (10mil, 12mil, 15mil) will quickly give you 16mil for an upgrade.

Approach a bigger player and say ive got 3 actives at a mil - want to volley then to my max (about ten mil) to help me upgrade and give you some actives? Most will say yes.

Heck if they know you can find actives and take the hassle of the early volleys away they may even hire you.
