Ombrelune Academy

Dear future student,

It gives the Ombrelune family great pleasure to announce your acceptance into Ombrelune Academie des Créatures Magiques, secretly located in the outskirts of Paris, France. This academy welcomes students from every nation, as long as they are of a supernatural kind.

The school term begins on 1st September. We await your letter in response by no later than 31st June. Please see the rest of the letters for further information on the academy.

Bellefeuille
"Beautiful Leaf"

This house is reserved for those with creative minds and nature nurturing souls. It was founded by Mr Fabien Le Roux. Moulin seeks calmness, serenity, creativity, and an artistic nature. These students are filled with love, and are normally of a gentle nature, although they have a poor sense of judgement. They are the students that put true care and effort into their work. Its colours are chartreuse green, and dark leaf green. Its mascot is the mockingbird.

Papillionlisse
"Sleek Butterfly"

For the ones with sophistication and grace, Papillionlisse is for the students with elegance and manners. The Papillions treasure beauty of the mind and beauty of appearance, and misbehaviour is most certainly the last thing on their minds; and they are sometimes thought of as haughty. Papillionlisse was founded by Miss Juliet Pieterse. This house seeks intelligence, understanding, politeness, and skill. Its mascot is the swan; its colours are baby blue, and cream white.

Moulin Rouge
"Red Windmill"

Those belonging to this house are of the cunning and calculative kind. They value mind over matter, and in many cases, go by the saying "the truth justifies the means". These students are clever and often some of the highest academic marks. Strongly competitive, and normally excellent fighters, these students tend to be blunt. Moulin was founded by Mr Laurent Delacour. Its colours are scarlet red and midnight black. Its mascot is the raven.

Vampire Schedule:

Vampires are creatures of nightfall, who may only go out during dusk — unless they've got a custom-made ring that protects them from the sunlight. They are incredibly fast and quite strong, with the ability to compel people. They must feed regularly, although some have better control than others. As soon as you turn into a vampire (if not a Pureblood), your looks, senses, and entire personality are enhanced and enheightened.

Werewolf Schedule:

Werewolves only turn every night, as soon as the sun sets. Although, as they learn to control themselves over the course of their school years, they will learn to control when they turn. A wolf turns for the first time on their thirteenth birthday; and this is the most painful transformation. The transformations afterwards are still extremely painful, but not as bad. They do not remember anything of their human life in wolf form.

Angel Schedule: (Pure and Fallen)

Angels are undead beings that return from the dead, because they have unfinished business, known as "Deathlock", that keeps them from crossing over. They are meant to be guardians for humans. Pure Angels sing beautifully and practice light magic, while Fallen Angels can summon ghosts and use dark magic. If an angel's wings are destroyed, the angel dies.

Mermaid/Siren Schedule:

These are creatures of the deep, with mermaids being positive beings, while sirens are the opposite. Sirens lure prey in with their beauty and voices and eat them. Yes, eat them. Mermaids, on the other hand, use their beauty and voices to watch over the prey that sirens attack. Both get hungry for blood and human flesh, and if a mermaid surrenders to this need, she becomes a siren.

Warlock/Witch Schedule:

Wizards practice magic, and have the option of being good wizards or bad wizards. Wizards use wands and staffs at the beginnings of their wizarding careers, however, over their academic years, they will learn to mentally cast spells, or use their hands alone. They are keepers of the peace and balance among the magical creatures.

Faerie Schedule:

Faeries are guardians of the forest and nature. They can heal people using their herbs and flowers. They conduct music in order to keep the wilderness in order. This music keeps all flora and fauna in unbroken balance. They fly, of course. If a faerie's wings are destroyed, the faerie dies. They may change size in order to maintain order. Faeries can also communicate with animals.

School Uniform:

As soon as you are sorted into your houses, you receive your school uniform which will be worn during school hours and during important formal events. The uniforms are the colours of your house.

Bellefeuille Uniform:

Girls; the ladies belonging to the Bellefeuille house wear nicely faded chartreuse green, silken and flowing tops, dark green blazers (optional) with dark leaf-patterned green skirts that go just below the knee. Mockingbird pins are situated upon the blazer, and everlasting roses to wear in their hair. Black leggings are worn underneath, matched with faded green ballerina shoes.

Boys; The gentlemen of Bellefeuille wear fairly dark fern green blazers with the mockingbird pin upon them, and trousers, with an even darker fern green tie. A white shirt and black school shoes are worn.

Papillionlisse Uniform;

Girls; the damsels of Papillionlisse wear their baby blue, silky blouses. An optional blazer with their house badge and (swan) pin are put over this in case of cold weather. Baby blue, ballerina-like skirts that reach the knees are worn as well. White ribbons snake around their waists. A thin and small tiara, identical to those worn in "Swan Lake", by Odette, is situated around their heads. Cream white leggings are worn, as well as baby blue ballerina slippers upon their feet.

Boys; the young men of Papillionlisse are required to wear their navy blue blazers with the house badge and pin upon if. They wear white shirts underneath, as well as a navy blue tie beneath it. They also wear navy blue trousers, and black school shoes.

Moulin Rouge

Girls; the gems sorted into the Moulin Rouge house wear jet black Alice-bands with little black bowler hats that slant to the side of them upon their heads. They wear sleek black suit jackets, (with the badge and raven pin on them) blood red blouses, and black pencil skirts and black leggings. They also wear scarlet red ribbons that snake around the waist, like belts, with black leggings. They wear blood red ballerina slippers.

Boys; the fellows placed in Moulin Rouge wear pitch black blazers with the raven insignia upon them. They wear white shirts and red ties. These young men wear black bowler hats as well. The trousers are black, matching their plain black school shoes.

The Campus:

Ombrelune Academie is very much a glittering palace, decorated in beautiful furniture and priceless paintings and scenery. Set near a large lake, smack dab in the middle of a stunning forest, not too far away from a refreshing meadow. Students share lovely dormitories with one person of their gender, in their house.

As students dine, they are serenaded by choirs of wood nymphs, orchestrated by faeries. Meals at Ombrelune are held in the grand dining hall. The meals are delicious, as described by students, yet they are light.

Students arrive at Ombrelune by Pegasus carriages, sorted into different years and classes. First-Years are welcomed by an orchestra, and a traditional ballet recital, carried out by students preparing to complete their final year. From there, they are sorted into their respective houses, and given the opportunity to get to know their roommate and unpack before the beginning of the year feast.

Despite the beauty, strange things are occurring at Ombrelune... Things that might just need solving before it is much too late.

How did you die: (Vampires and Angels Only) Was brutally attacked by a vicious drunk on a cold December evening when he was 17. He was left in that alley with his clothes in tatters. He waited for certain death, but a creature of the night sunk it's teeth into his delicate neck and give him a new leash of life.
