I drift back and forth in what I think should be done with silences, but for the most part, I come back to a specific belief. A first silence should be 24 hours. A second silence should be 72 hours and a 48 hour forum suspension. A third silence should be a solid week, and a week forum suspension to match. Only in extreme cases should a player receive another chance. Either force them to wait out a silence and forum ban for a full month, or review their past silences. If one is found to be unfair or not so serious, then by all means give them another chance. Beyond that, a player should only be given another chance if there was an unfair silence.... Or give them another option. Charge a player 4.99 to become unsilenced. That'd make them money and I wouldn't mind silencing more if it helped support the game. Anyway. That's my current belief on silencing. Haha.
The only people who would disagree with this are the people who would be afraid to get silenced. I think it is a great idea.
I have always believed in silences being linked to forums where if you are silenced then you shouldn't be able to post on forums. It doesn't make sense the way it is now because someone can bypass on forums and then they get silenced on the game but can't get silenced from forums (they can get banned in extreme cases). They don't need to be able to post on forums if they are silenced and shouldn't be posting on forums asking why they were silenced when they are supposed to email support.
You also always see the "silenced people post here" or "I'm silenced someone please message this player" on forums. This defeats the purpose of silencing to at least a small degree. I totally agree with your suggestion to ban/silence from forums when someone is silenced in the game.
Forums are for those (like me) who apologized, socialized, and kept playin since i had forums to talk. Communication is a huge factor in makin it far in the game. Silencing makes it tough Not to Mention I apologized for what I did and that allowed me back insilenced.
Sure it would be undesirable to not be able to post on forums if you are silenced. But I think when you look at the content that a lot of silenced players post on forums there are a lot of uneccesary posts. You wouldn't be permanently banned from forums unless you were silenced multiple times. Maybe this would also give people more of an incentive to not post something controversial and people would try harder to not get silenced. You can say that it is possible for a single silence to be unfair but with multiple silences, it's hard to come up with an excuse.
Take it out of our non-existent paycheck. Leo's right. It WAS his idea for the money. I agree with it.
4.99 to support game to get unsilenced? What kind of freaking stupid idea is that? Then mods who i shall not name who MIGHT be biased can just silence some random people and pimd makes money? Seriously man -_-
I understand that the ToU is there for all to see, but honestly! Who reads those things before playing? I hear what you're saying, Neon! It must be frustrating for mods to see the same breaches over and over again! Perhaps the devs could make the ToU easy to read flash screens as new players begin? Then at least everyone has seen them before playing...
Dark; read the whole post. Support is there to investigate silences. If a player is wrongfully silenced, they will allow the player to be unsilenced for nothing. 4.99 is for players that HAVE to buy extra chances. You want updates like Kaw, then don't knock the ways to pay for them.
I have read the entire post, but I'm allowed to have my view also. Or do I have to pay $4.99 for that too.
