  1. Do you eat or avoid MSG?

    Just wondering

    I eat it

  2. no. yes. no?

i don't normally eat it, but i don't avoid it. if it's in something, i'll still eat it.

  3. My mother in law has extreme chemical sensitivity, and has to avoid excess sodium for her enzymes to process every day chemicals, and since I’ve been living with her, I’ve minimised the sodium I eat too.. noticed MSG foods I eat do make me feel pretty ill ?

  4.
  5. I avoid it. Some glutamate you can’t avoid and is completely healthy, but that’s bound and unaltered, not free/monosodium(MSG)/altered.

  6. Word on the street these days is it's racist to avoid msg.

It's no more unhealthy for you than taking vitamins. You see, to produce msg they extract glutamate from corn, beets, or seaweed. Then they mix it with table salt and water to stabilize it. That's it.

I can see why someone avoiding salt would avoid msg. But saying msg is unhealthy is like saying vitamins are unhealthy. It's stupid and racist.

  7. Tf is MSG?

  8. It a fud

  9. Um. I wouldn't call it racist tbh but as a relatively healthy individual i have no reason to avoid ig, so i don't. Idk why it gets the bad rep that it does

  10. Growing up we had absolutely 0 MSG in our household, like I eat it now I’ve moved out but I eat it understanding that it’s an addictive add in to food, it’s like sugar, they’re just addicting products in food to make you crave them, but like msg is found in tomato’s mushrooms and breast milk, so all in all, too much of anything is gonna be bad for you, as long as you’re eating things in a healthy moderation live yo life, eat them 2 minute noodles

  11. MSG isn’t the same as natural, bounded glutamate. MSG is processed and altered, and studies have been done that show large amounts of it may actually have bad effects such as migraines. MSG isn’t heathy, bound glutamate is.

  12. Large amounts of anything is bad for you tbh. It's nuffin to worry about imo

  13. I mean, what I consider “large” amount tends to be normal for the average person, especially when taking into account the amount of MSG in processed and/or cured foods such as cheese which is a massively common food for the majority of people.

Limiting MSG has amazing effects. There have been links between migraines and even ADHD where lessening the amount has positive changes.

  14. Otay but i'm talking about what doctors consider large amounts not what you consider large amounts. And most ppl are aware that eating junk food every meal or even once a day is bad for them. If someone chooses to eat cheese everyday they're probs aware of the negative stuff they're doing to their body

  15. That sounds a lil like propaganda. And again, i was talking about healthy individuals. I don’t have adhd or get migraines so those benefits (or potential downsides if they exist) wouldn't affect me.

  16. A lot of doctors, the ones I’ve personally spoken with about dieting habits or the ones who have done these studies, normally think the large amount would equal just regularly eating processed foods.. which a majority of Americans do. Most people really aren’t aware, tbh. You’d be surprised if you saw how people reacted to my random splurge of what’s in cheese and such.

Processed doesn’t always equal junk food, either, which is why many people don’t realize they’re taking in so many bad chemicals, such as MSG which isn’t one of the worst, but it’s still not good.

  17. You keep saying regular but just because a lot of ppl might eat mcdonalds or spam or chips or smthing everyday doesn't mean it's 'regular.' Ppl know that's bad and too much for their bodies, they just choose to do it anyway

  18. I dont knw what it is so

  19. Ahli, how are you finding the change to a US diet? I know there’s a lot of different rules for what’s allowed in the food there, certainly compared with what’s allowed here.
